We are. If you think Butt/Guthrie is an uninspired midfield, you should check out Mokoena/Andrews If and when RSC leaves they're in real trouble imo.

I agree, exactly the sort of player we need. I'm not suggesting him as a target as there's a less than zero chance of us getting him, but Essien would be perfect for us.
-
sorry, my knowledge of north east teams outside of the big three is useless I'm afraid. Isn't Krul on loan at Carlisle? In the North-West?
-
these at west ham were great! "we cant see you sneaking out" sung at some lower league ground when the lights went out man u- "cheer up ameobi, how hard can it be to be a single celled organism in a shite football team" That's genius

This summer we replaced Ramage, Milner & Faye with Bassong, Gutierrez & Coloccini. Which three would you prefer? That's pretty much the point I was making. We can't really tell about Xisco and Nacho, but the scouting team seems to have done its job in the sense that we've brought in some decent players. If we can get 3 or 4 more in with only Smithy out we'll comfortably be fine.
-
We actually picked up some decent players despite it all in the summer. A few more and we'll be fine, it's the quantity rather than the quality that's the real issue in a relegation battle (bar cm which could do with an upgrade).

To keep me entertained during Gilette Soccer Saturday tomorrow I've gone for Us, Villa, Stoke and Wigan to win with the scummers to draw at about 75/1.

Rooney wouldn't have been absolute fucking shite until the last ten games of the season.

It doesn't matter how much is offered, it'll alway be that he's asking too much. If any sale doesn't go through, then yes. He says he's desperate to get away. How desperate? If he's desperate to sell he'll cover his losses or make a small profit and get the deal done. If he wants to keep the club he needs to start running it like a proper club and invest money. On the other hand if he wants to keep the club and NOT invest, he is just bleeding the club dry and putting it's future at stake. That's really all there is to it. Couldn't agree more.

He looks about 60 with that beard.
-
Both of their goals came from the side he was defending as well. Would have been three if it was Bramble

Keegan didn't play Zog either. Don't know about Owen. He'd have been more likely to stay, but I've got a feeling he would have left regardless.

Comical cobblers. Malouda was absolutely shocking and Deco completely anonymous. Actually I'd forgotten about Malouda, he was garbage too. Deco was anonymous, but he didn't do anything as badly as Duffer did.

I concur. Back four were excellent yesterday, Coloccini was world class and Bassong was excellent. As someone said Enrique was cracking defensively but distribution continued to be poor and Beye was Beye. We looked very solid, Chelsea struggled to break us down. One game! That same back-four were awful at home to Wigan and do not fill me with any confidence that such performances can be repeated on a consistent basis, mainly due to the tactics, selection and more significantly the midfield admittedly than the defence itself. By the same token surely the starting 11 who performed so well, should be kept for the next match? Ye I bet if I started a thread in the same vein as this one many would have Duff and Butt in particular nowhere near the bench never mind the starting 11. Didn't see the Wigan game, I can only go on what I see, and that back 5 played and defended as a unit yesterday. The second paragraph is completely irrelevant to the debate.

Duff was comfortable the worst player on the park yesterday. Bottled several challanges, didn't make any runs off the ball and did fuck all with it. Very poor on a day that most played their hearts out.

Who's going to be the new captain then? Not many candidates. Cesc seems to be one of the few guaranteed starters when fit, but is he really captaincy material?
-
Is that fucking praise-worthy? City are still at best 90% full, despite having broken the british transfer record and the other two get fucking woeful crowds. I don't give a shit if they're up. Fill your ground, then get back to me.

I'm certain we'll get dicked, but I'm actually looking forward to the day out. Sadistic?

In his early days Jackie would have to organise his shift at work around getting into town to play for Newcastle. When he was a pro he would still take the bus to SJP for a home match and was reluctant to get on first when supporters insisted he did. He was just too modest. Guess he'd be using a Bentley or a helicopter these days. Aye he used to work down the pits and employees once staged a protest so Jackie could leave earlier for the match which he was very embarrassed about. The classic story I've heard, and I like to believe is true is that - upon being told he was having a testimonial game (because he was struggling financially, and the club wanted to help him out) wor Jackie replied 'will anyone turn up?'
-
I've heard that too. We've all seen the videos. On another note, when did Willy become shite? I thought he was just about the best defender in the prem when he was at Chelsea.
