  1. Who does he play for now? I remember him being decent but not any more for Chelsea.
  2. Good point but it generally is, which is why a player coming in who can score/create an extra 15 goals would mean the world of difference. Someone who can turn draws into wins and losses into draws by doing something out of the ordinary. We don't have that type of player. Yet. I think that's what we all crave. I'm convinced we're looking for one (attempting to get Modric and Aimar), I just hope we get someone who can really do it. Me too. Just got to trust the boss and hope he comes up with something special. I'm hopeful. Same here. I'm quietly optimistic, but I don't want to get my hopes up too much!

  4. Good point from ONut, of the teams above us (catchable) I'd say only Tottenham and Villa have done better in the transfer market. Pompey have lost their most important midfielder, Blackburn have lost two of their best and most influential players, City seem to be in turmoil but we'll see, Everton haven't got anyone in yet and West Ham have also struggled. It could be very tight from 6th to about 12th this year.
  5. I quite enjoyed watching him play us at WHL last season.
  6. I hope you realise you've described our situation pretty much perfectly there. I suspect so. I do, but we had a lower starting level than Villa this summer, so it was/is only to be expected. I'm reasonably happy with us for similar reasons brummie is with Villa, although we could do with an extra body or two this summer, and I have to accept we're still a little behind. Just making the point that I wish our own fans had such a balanced view on what it takes to get up the league. I'm happy to see us moving forward and think we will do this season, even if it's not straight up to the UEFA Cup spots like some seem to be expecting. I'd say I'm content at the moment. We seem to be moving in the right direction, thinking about the future and building a team and a squad. UEFA qualification would excite me, but I wouldn't complain about anything above 10th that showed promise.

  8. Pure shite, I'd honestly rather have Ameobi. He was shocking and very lazy. Easy day for Ramage says it all. Man I miss HTT, he wasn't ignorant of foreign football at all. "Ashton better than Torres"
  9. How many players you got so far this window now and how much spent? sidwell, friedel, gusman, cuellar and young? nicky shorey as well iirc Curtis Davies actually signed this summer, having technically been on a year long loan last season. About £30m spent I make that. I think that's about right. Davies - 9 Cuellar - 7.8 Young - 5.5 Sidwell - 5 Shorey - 4.5 Friedel - 2 Guzan - 1 Total = 34.8 Out Moore - 3 Sorensen, Berger, Mellberg - all free. Spend = 31.8 He's got a lot of holes in the squad still to fill, to be honest, so he'll need to spend a bit more yet. Some decent signings there, and the squad is definitely improved, but I can't help but think that maybe, for all that money spent, you haven't got any real top class quality with the possible exception of Friedel. I think that's the real difference between becoming the best of the rest, which is a reasonable target for Villa this season, and really kicking on to challenge for the major honours.
  10. Sums it up quite nicely, I think.
  11. Well if we don't get him we've missed out on a decent signing that would have certainly given us strength in depth and if we do sign him he's only someone who you wouldn't have been too fussed about if we'd missed out on anyway. Fuck
  12. I think he'd be a decent signing and would certainly give us strength in depth, but I wouldn't be too fussed if we missed out. This transfer's win-win for me!

  14. Why "hopefully Derdiyok"? I'd personally prefer someone who would start instead of Viduka, rather than sitting on the bench. He'll be ahead of Viduka, the fat twats finished. Played very well towards the end of last season. Will be interesting to see how he recovers from his injury though. He played well for 20mins here and there. I thought he was a very important player in the formation, linked the attack together very nicely. I don't think the formation we were playing at the end of last season will work at all unless we get in a player capable of replicating his role.
  15. Same.. he's always looked rather lazy to me or something.. His job is to score goals, he's done that to a World Class level over his whole career, what more do you ask for? Could get fuckin stuck in a bit, the lazy cunt. Yeah, he's a lazy tosser. Keep Smudger!

  17. He called Smith as not taking part in the PSV game at about 1pm that day. That's about it I think. He also said the deal was on hold as there were some problems with personal terms didnt he? That's not something he can prove though is it? Whereas he was bang on about the PSV game. If this is proof, Nicko said the same night that personal terms were holding up the deal. I think if you were to define an exact opposite of proof, it'd be something along those lines.
  18. If, and obviously it's a big if, there is a big name signing coming in that we don't yet know about I would expect it to be a central midfielder, given the fact both Modric and Aimar seem to have knocked us back this summer.
  19. Even though I know he's almost certainly making it up.... it's fun to get excited.
  20. You really see no problem in achieving it?
  21. i would like to see a list simply based on trophies won..... european cup ,euefa cup ,cup winners cup, league champions, fa cup, league cup.... nowt else. http://www.krysstal.com/trophies.html There you go cheers, but oh f***, we're a place lower, i will change my mind to the first list, lol If you just look at league titles, which is the important one, you move up two places. Fuck off. Sunderland go above us if we look at it like that!
  22. What's so bad about it? Apart from the predicted team, that is.
  23. Who did Blackburn sell behind his back?
