I agree, a little more communication would be a good thing imo. However, we may have found it harder to sign Jonas (given that Pompey were interested at £8m not so long ago) had anyone known anything about it.
-
Is Nicko that Blackburn fan? Yes, he's a shit ITK who writes in the Mirror.
-
3-1 ManU, Diarra, Johnson and Mvuemba all missed for Pompey, everyone else scored.
-
I'd like to point out that, sadly, Xavi could not be on his way to Newcastle. I read the interview with Waddle, the man was talking complete and utter unadulterated fucking shite.
-
Well, I understand it better than Nile Ranger's myspace page.

That table can't be right, surely, since we haven't been in the premiership for every season yet we're down as having played as many games as anyone. Also, like the post HTT, think you got a bit confused here though: "Martins will excite and frustrate equally, mostly excite." How does that work?!

No chance.

He's a cut above. Sure there's been an admiration thread for the great man on here before.

Either way, if Everton are interested they will put the cash up for him. Have faith. Not if Moyes doesn't think he's worth it. Moyes has passed up the opportunity to sign plenty of players he's wanted in the past because he wouldn't budge on the fee or wages. Am I remembering correctly that you were in for him last year? If so I'd be surprised if a deal for him wasn't done for half the original asking price a year later.

They've just signed Owusu-Abeyie (sp) who is a former Arsenal right winger... replacement?
-
Thats because they were playing 4-5-1 and he had the freedom to roam. Put him in a 4-4-2 where the manager actually gives him set instructions, and he'll struggle bad. Ability wise, he's nothing special (other than his heading and his movement). Arteta on the other hand, is a class player. Edit: Basically, Cahill is just a better version of Kevin nolan. I'd have said he's more of a poor man's Paul Scholes tbh, but that's just splitting hairs. I agree with what you're saying to an extent, but I still think he's the most effective CM outside the top 4.

I disagree, makes a huge difference to the Everton team when he's playing. The difference in the results they were getting last season when he was in and out of the team was striking.
-
When he was available he was more or less always in the first team iirc. He's a good player with bags of potential but if he did come I think our midfield would still lack the invention and creativity it needs at the moment. Plus I doubt he'd come cheap and leave without seeing what Hughes can do with City ala Dunne. I don't know about that, he's not the best at running with the ball but seems to have excellent vision and distribution skills from what I've seen of him.

I reckon it might have been Nile Ranger.
-
Any confirmation of this?
-
Would be an unlikely but excellent signing imo.
-
I thought about this, he's looked good when I've seen him. Would be happy with him as 4th choice. Interested to know what 1878 thinks of him as a player.

Any 20 year old in the Championship who even remotely looks like a striker will probably come with a price tag of £6m with no guarantee he could score at a higher level. That's just the way the British market is. See M.Chopra as an example.

Aye probs, i doubt they'd even go 4-4-2 either tbh. Infact, i can't see anyone but ourselves lining up with a straight 4-4-2 next season. I was just trying to think of the most logical system without thinking TOO hard. Fair play. Still think Spurs are too lightweight in the middle. If Modric plays there they'll need 1, if not 2 central midfielders significantly better than they currently have if they want top 4 imo. Cahill is a class above anything they have in there.
-
Hang on, I thought Smith played every game because he was Ashley's favourite player....
-
Just got back from Peru, and am the proud owner of a genuine Peru Solano 7 shirt. Magic!
-
That may not be how they actually line up, but if Spurs really put Jenas and Huddlestone in the centre they'll struggle, regardless of their other personnel.
-
I rate Dean Ashton, but if West Ham have really rejected a £15m bid for someone that injury prone they need their heads looking at imo.
-
By the way, on topic, I'd be hugely underwhelmed and generally disappointed with the signing of Healy as a Smith replacement; I haven't been impressed by what I've seen of him in this league.
