  1. Yeah, I forgot the time when blue, yellow, brown and red lasers came down from the sky, and the game where Emre cheekily opted not to wear shorts. Are you serious? Pretty fucking memorable if you ask me, don't see that everyday.
  2. He was excellent that day. Problem is, from then onwards whenever England were struggling he tried to replicate that performance by doing everything himself and was pretty much always shit.
  3. Useless in every major tournament he played in for England mind.
  4. I'd get rid of those fixtures if I were you, Yorkie-brummie
  5. Think it's been used in some form of Rugby. The problem is that it gives the lower ranked teams time to get some form together in the build up.
  6. Think he said he'd never play for England. I think he does qualify though.
  7. I'd be absolutely delighted if we stayed up next year. Have to aim higher though otherwise we won't stand a chance.
  8. Don't be ridiculous. CMackail-Smith would be an awful username. Time for bed.
  9. Much as I agree...all I can think about is football becoming as shit as that clip of women's football that made Keys and Gray cry with laughter. I'm sure it wouldn't get that bad, would it? I might kill myself if it did.
  10. I'm not surprised, she's bound to have stretched it. It'll be far too big now.
  11. There was one, in Nottingham. Not sure if it's still there but I had a meal in there with some mates who went to Nottingham Uni about 7 years ago. It's still there. Went there for a mate's leaving do before he went abroad: underwhelming. Expensive beer, mediocre food and chubby birds. Mind you, chubby birds who had cracking norks. Still the only one in the country I think.
  12. Didn't he play for Bolton for a while? Left winger?
  13. Still. To be fair, he's right. That does sound fucking ridiculous.
  14. I don't think many people are basing this on international performances, none of them have been consistently at their best for England. Oh, well, bugger. I dunno then, cos whilst I prefer the other 2, Scholes' performances have ultimately ended in medals. I thought you might have confused English with England there...none of them have been as good for country as club. Beckham has at times, but he's always been shit at tournaments. In this case, I'm probably gonna go with Stuart Ripley. Fair play, it's either him or Jason Wilcox.
  15. Just checked on wiki, seems you're right. He got 20 in 02-03, not in any other season though. I never thought of him as playing as a forward mind.

  17. Fucking yanks I play saturday league at the moment, which is supposedly of higher standard than Sunday leagues, and I'm surprised I haven't seen anything kick off properly yet. I think it's partly because my team are a very sound group of lads but it's got close a few times. Having said that I was on the receiving end of a horror tackle 4 weeks ago (still got massive bruising) and my own team were laughing at it, the cunts.
  18. Scholes used to rattle in 20+ for a while at his best did he not? In a genuine 442 too? *waiting for everything I've just said to be disproved*

  20. ManU 98-00 (if I remember my dates and football correctly) were different class.
  21. Fair play, your English is good enough that it wouldn't be surprising for it to be in your genes. Fucking scandos: not coming over here, learning our language...
  22. “Sports Direct has promised not to run confusing or deceptive closing-down sales after the Office of Fair Trading accused it of breaching the rules on misleading advertising. Although the group denied breaking regulations, it has signed an undertaking to not mislead customers. The OFT announced yesterday that it had received complaints from members of the public that Sports Direct had displayed "closing down" adverts for months at a time. The stores that carried the notices, however, never closed down or were only temporarily shuttered” I suppose this was just naivety as well? http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2008/may/21/sportsdirectinternational.consumeraffairs The one on Oxford St had 'Closing in less than 10 days' plastered all over it before Xmas. It was still open in February.
  23. Out of interest when did you start watching English football? That isn't a dig in any way, genuinely interested. Was born in 89, so since 89. Although I don't really remember much before around Euro 96-ish. Have you got some sort of English heritage then? You're a few years younger than me but I don't really remember all that much outside Newcastle pre-96. I think the thing that will 'cost' Scholes in this poll is that he was never quite as good at international level as he was at club level. Having said that, he's probably still done just as much, if not more, for us at major tournaments than the others have.
