Eh? Which part did you not understand?

Be a bit hard on south London, like, meaning only Charlton and Millwall left on that side of the Thames, and both of those way over in the east.

But when you call someone a doubled barreled insult like that, the first word is never neutral, it's always picked because it's being infered by the person shouting it that it's a negative trait to have, isn't it? Fat, ginger, ugly, spotty, talentless, midget, black... You never hear someone call Peter Crouch "You tall prick" it's always "Lanky prick". You don't hear "Rooney, you muscular arsehole" or "Barton, you brunette shitbag" do you? If Michael Carrick puts a two footed challenge on an Arsenal player they might call him a northern wanker, would Newcastle fans do that, even though he's northern and it's a valid description? Why do you specify "southern twat" rather than just twat? It's inferring that you don't like southerners, that being southern is a bad trait to have and so forms part of the insult. So what's the implication of calling Shola a black cunt rather than just a cunt? Why not Geordie cunt? Point extremely well made!

And more than the other English players Mourinho's being linked with, Cole will probably appreciate going abroad to get away from the media spotlight. Still think he might lure Gerrard, too. It's his last chance for a big move to a potential trophy-winning situation.

Millwall.

OK, so now we need to know why the planet Mercury doesn't rotate. Pretty sure Mercury does rotate, just very slowly. I bow to your superior astronomical acumen.

More likely to get Ashley Cole and maybe Gerrard. He's apparently after Lampard, too, but I think that's less likely to happen.

Like the way Real get Internazionale's name wrong in an official press release.

24-team competition sounds wank. I'd rather have some kind of knock-out competition involving every European team.

Why? Games in the middle of the night, ffs.

They had something on SSN before saying they were going to have something in place which wouldn't allow this. how can they not allow it? if a company wants to sponsor man city for an extremely large amount of cash per season i dont see how they can stop it Maybe they can't, but they can stop such a team from participating in European competitions. -
They were already banned; the Triesman thing is the reason (or excuse) they stay that way.

I don't think it was any great surprise that we gradually lost all of Keegan's flair players after Dalglish took over, but to suggest that his battle plan was always to bring in the likes of Barnes and Rush is nonsense. Apart from the Premiership, we had our first Champions League campaign coming up. It wasn't Dalglish's fault that we had to sell players to pay for Shearer and it wasn't his fault that Shearer copped a pre-season injury. Rush was signed on the last day it was possible to bring someone in and get them registered for the CL. I remember it being a gut-wrenching disappointment, but I'm sure if Dalglish had had any money to spend we would have got someone better. I blame the board more than I blame KD. He wasn't backed that summer. The next summer, he got around £15 million to spend and then was sacked just a few games into the season. Madness.

What about the one that got knocked out of the World Cup by the USA in 1950? -
More a complete piss-take. But apart from all the bits that make me laugh out loud ("the documentary Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence" or the bit about short Mexicans and the adjustable tripod) he's also spot on when he drifts into actual criticism (fifth para, or the second to last).

I'm looking forward to further match reports from Wingco at WSC. Here's the Wing Commander's take on England-Mexico: http://www.wsc.co.uk/component/option,com_kunena/Itemid,73/func,view/catid,27/id,381439/

They spent about £5 million up to promotion in 1993.
