  1. Owen's goal was a cracking 25-yarder apparently
  2. Scarier still, Roeder also said in that interview that Huntington was a class above anyone on the park for the reserves last night. He was garbage!
  3. Why did Shreeves overstep the mark? Since when did any of the "herd" have the b******s to stand up to Fergie? Ferguson is a truly great manager - probably one of the two or three best ever - but he can also be a complete f***** tit.
  4. Why would Howard and Lescott have kicked off so much at the time if he said something in Turkish? Are they fluent Where did you hear that? I always thought it was said in Turkish and that is why it has all taken so long to sort. I also thought that this was all down to what the ref put in his report and nothing to do with Everton making a complaint. he allegedly said it in english Where did you hear that? I always thought it was said in Turkish and that is why it has all taken so long to sort. I also thought that this was all down to what the ref put in his report and nothing to do with Everton making a complaint. The ref didn't hear anything - this is all based on what the Everton lads heard And why would they have gone ballistic at the time if he'd said it in Turkish?
  5. Good. It's rather nice to see some supporters frustrions reflected in the local rags once in a while, and for that alone Farrington is far from a 'useless b******'. s**** writing, though, innit? The Journal, IMO, have done a far better job summing up events this week and the lads who write for that aren't even Geordies. why is it s****?
  6. At least he's put some of the blame away from the players, unlike the prick who reports for the Chronicle. why would you want to take any of the blame away from the players? fact of the matter is that the players blew it even though they had the knowledge that they could better alkmaar from the first leg - never mind all this manager/tactics sh!t...if it was all down to that, and roeder told them to do exactly what they did, then they should be ashmed of themselves that they couldn't take the game by the scruff of the neck and ignore the managers tactics and win the game blame the manager all you want but they players we had out had enough experience beyween them to win regardless of whatever tactics they were given - furthermore they were sh!te til half time so if it was all tactics then they should have told the manager at half time to change it or we'd lose the idea that our players are empty vessels with no autonomy is fucken tragic - the players are at least as much to blame as the manager, arguably more as they're better paid and there are more of them and any board related arguments don't come into it, it was a problem on the pitch this time not in boardroom So that fact Paul Huntington should be nowhere near our back four, let alone playing at leftback, has nothing to do with manager or board? Was it the players who decided we should end the game with no width cos of crap substitutions?

    Shepherd

It's only not been a disaster if you admit that we are no longer a club capable of winning anything. Shepherd has never admitted that.

A friend who works at the Chronicle tells me Freddy is quoted in all the national papers tomorrow saying: "This season hasn't been a disaster." I'd rather he said nowt than said that.
  9. Cavener's getting released isn't he?
  10. As a DCM, case closed. Move him back there and he'll work well again. I've never seen a Newcastle midfield more deviod of creativity and class than when Parker was playing DCM under Souness. Aye, cos that was Parker's fault. Nowt to do with Amdy Faye like . . . I assume you feel the creativity and class our midfield showed last night was DESPITE Parker . . .

    Preston tonight

Also the need-10-chances-to-score-1-goal thing. Its like watching Andy Cole again. Umm, did you actually watch Newcastle in the last few months of the promotion season and the first season in the Prem? Cole was ruthless in front of goal.
  12. Can't believe some people have suggested Martins was worse than Dyer today. Oba was in and out - shocking 1st touch at times - but was our only attacking threat. He twice beat the offside trap (lino got the 1st decision wrong). Dyer? non-existent.
  13. very much in agreement with you I find it embarrassing that people are trying to excuse racism on the basis that it's considered more acceptable elsewhere, so we should just let them get on with it here as well. Yes, but there is ignorance and malice. Ignorance needs education, while malice needs punishment. From what has been reported, Emre's racism seems to stem from ignorance rather than any actual malice. Therefore, there needs to be more emphasis on educating him and less emphasis on punishing him in my opinion. 1: Do you honestly believe there is no malice in calling someone a "fucking nigger"? 2: If he was ignorant of those words being offensive, why use them as an insult to someone? And if he is really Oba Martins'best mate, how can he claim to be ignorant of what is or isn't offensive to black people in the first place?
  14. Anyone defending Roeder should stop, take a deep breath and then study today's teamsheet. It was a joke. I don't slag off kids lightly (and I know there are problems all over the park) but Huntington is NOT a Premiership defender. Not at left-back, not at centre-back. Never will be.
  15. I agree, which begs the question of why are we looking at a £10 million rated left-back?
  16. Got "Newcastle's Cult Heroes" for Christmas. Very decent read, looking at 20 of our best-ever players. It's not just another arse-licking effort. The author (cant remember his name) has some very interesting views on Shearer in particular.
  17. m8 in the know tells me Onyewu has now definitely signed on loan. Should be an announcement shortly.
  18. Who says he wasn't ? And please stop shouting makes you look like a tit. Well he clearly told AO yesterday that he was hopeful of bringing in Gavrancic. So go figure. No he didn't he said (and this is quoted from AO so I would take it very much with a pinch of salt) "Glenn Roeder is trying to bring a top international defender to Newcastle United in the next couple of days. The United boss is in negotiations with the central defender's club to get him to Tyneside by the weekend with the view to a loan deal. But Roeder admitted today there was still some work to be done on getting the player to St James' Park. He told me today: "We are talking to the player's club and we are hoping they will release him to come here, and we will find out in the next 48 hours. Oh, so that wasn't Gavrancic, even though Roeder today makes it clear that the mystery 48-hour man now isn't coming . . . I apologise for drawing the only logical conclusion.
  19. Who says he wasn't ? And please stop shouting makes you look like a tit. Well he clearly told AO yesterday that he was hopeful of bringing in Gavrancic. So go figure.
  20. Roeder: “I have conducted my own investigations into Gavrancic and decided he is not a player we will be signing. “I have been told by people I respect and who know what they are talking about that he is no better than the defenders we already have. “And while Gavrancic is not coming, this does not mean we have slackened off in our efforts to bring a couple of players in before the transfer window closes next Wednesday. “The four or five players we have targeted are still with their clubs, and I can put my hand on my heart and honestly say that we have not wanted any of the players who have already moved in the transfer window. “I can only repeat what I have already said and that is I will not panic or lose my nerve, and I will not bring players in for the sake of adding another body to our squad.” ROEDER SHOULD HAVE BEEN SPEAKING TO PEOPLE WHO KNOW WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT F**KIN MONTHS AGO, NOT LESS THAN A WEEK BEFORE THE WINDOW CLOSES!!!
  21. It's not Onyewu that was being talked about apparently. It's Goran Gavrancic. Serbian international, plays for Kiev. But Roeder's decided he doesn't want him bow anyway. So a well-connected mate tells me.
  22. Good post, tbh. Just about sums it up, but they'll never admit to any responsibility for anything. It's always down to someone else. F**k me boys, like we're angels? I was in the Gallowgate when that Charlton player (name escapes me) got bottled and coined as he was stretchered off with a broken leg. I was at away games aplenty when the Zigga Zigga Zigga Shoot That Nigga chant was sung (and by thousands, not one or two). But I've also been at away games when I look back now and realise how f**kin close our lot have come to a Hillsborough (once at Hillsborough itself, once at Spurs, once at Forest) because of the combination of fences/pissed up fans pushing from the back/sheer weight of numbers/totally ambivalent policing. F**k me, which away following of any size in the 80s wasn't full of pissheads? So, if you accept all I've said there, answer this question: do you think we would just "leave it alone" if 95 of our lot had been crushed in 89 - alcohol or no alcohol involved? And do you think we'd just sit by while the bloke who accused us of pissing on our own dead - and repeated the accusation 17 years later - then gets a prime slot on the BBC?
