I actually think the failure to put away the lesser teams is doing his reputation more damage than games like this one.

Yep. Because of his height, all he has to do is get his head on the ball to defend the box. But the loopy headers are useless at set pieces.

Weirdly, it feels like we had a more cohesive team in his first season when we fought out of relegation. We knew what our strengths were, and were very difficult to break down. Now it feels like every time we lose the ball there's a chance on a plate for the opposition.

The players don't look like they trust the old way of playing which was to press high with the old intensity is our identity mantra. Not surprising with two of the slowest CBs in the league, with a no 6 who lacks pace as well. But when we sit back, we can't pass our way out and just lose possession for long periods.

I think if he had a bit more pace then the one trick would be enough. He's not quick enough to go on the outside and keep defenders guessing like Gordon. He can strike a lovely shot if he's allowed though.

His main issue is his only trick is to cut inside and teams won't give him the space to shoot now they know that.

PSR is doing a great job for the cartel mind. Not only is it stopping us from improving, it makes it more likely those clubs can poach our better players as they get disillusioned by not being able to challenge for the top 4.

Thought he looked our most dangerous player by some distance, but his finishing was off, and he lost the ball for their winner. Not sure how you fix that because there isn't anyone better waiting to come in.

I hadn't noticed Tonali much in the first half, then watched him for a bit just before he got pulled. Ran around the periphery a bit and laid off a couple of nice first time passes. Longstaff came on and bombed forward, then missed a couple of passes.

They'll finish top 4 for the same reason they did last season. They've just got too many good players compared to the rest.

He's definitely better than Murphy, but he's far too timid to do any damage to the Chelsea back line. He's always looking to see if there's someone else he can pass to, usually sideways or backwards. Murphy's the same mind, but with a worse touch.

He was goalside of Jackson when the move started then about 15 yards behind by the time it got played in.

For all his other faults, he's the one player who has the pace to keep up with the Chelsea forwards.

How we are still level is a bit of a mystery, but they look like they leave plenty of space at the back so we can score goals in this game. But looks like they'll probably get at couple more the way we are set up.
