  1. I think you were right in your earlier assessment though. We'd reject any offer of £110-120m from a business standpoint. We are far more likely to get more than that in January or June when it's probable other clubs will come into the auction. It's not even about being arsey and keeping him on the bench. We'd bring him back into the fold when he's ready, and I would imagine after the window closes that would be sooner rather than later.
  2. He's not even the same type of striker, even if we sold Isak we'd need to buy a proper no 9 who would be the central striker given that Woltemade likes to play a slightly withdrawn role.
  3. We could easily sell Isak in January or next summer for more than £110m though. There'll be more clubs in the mix you would imagine.

But in reality they almost always overturn their own decisions because they are scared to go against VAR. The more important point here is that they don't even get to see some of their poor decisions because the VAR official turns a blind eye to offences committed by cartel defenders in the penalty area, such as tugging shirts or holding.
  5. Not unless Liverpool are going to up their bid significantly by at least £20m. Or we've bent over and took it up the jacksie.
  6. I'd put good money on it that he does though.
  7. It's not that simple unfortunately. They might lowball us, but they can doube his wages, he could just say we don't value him as highly because we can't pay him that. If we could he'd sign tomorrow IMO.
  8. Tbf we've probably dropped around 5pts because Isak has sat the start of the season out, the mood in the camp is rightly pissed at the damage he's potentially causing to our season.
  9. I don't think it works when the rest of the team is functioning properly. We had a strange formation, and players were isolated too easily. I think it was just one of those days where nothing really worked.
  10. Honestly I think the players were always going to go clap the fans regardless of what they were singing. They do it every game, especially away from home.

In that case I don't believe we are still in for him. It would make no sense since we've just bought Woltemade who is a similar profile forward.
  12. Were the fans singing "Isak is a cunt" at the end of the game when the players were clapping them? My impression was that chant was happening during the game.

Is Openda an out and out striker? Since Woltemade is considered more of a 10 I would think we need a Wissa type who gets on the end of stuff rather than another deep lying forward. I know nothing about Openda FWIW.
  14. Someone posted some stats yesterday which shows Larsen as quicker over the ground than Isak. How accurate that was I don't know.
  15. They can always make a last minute move for Wissa if the Isak lowballing doesn't work. They can afford it.

He was raging yesterday like, and who can blame him? Finally a manager just comes out and calls it for what it is.
  17. If we have good people making decisions at the top, this is how it will pan out.
  18. Liverpool are clearly not going to bid his true value and only want him at a distressed price. As long as we hold firm and don't entertain it, we will be able to bring Isak back into the fold once it's clear they were just trying it on. He'll reintegrate fine once it's there in black and white that they never really took the move seriously.
  19. Feels like we paid a lot of money for a striker who has no significant record of goals in his CV. I think the only way you can justify the outlay is if we think he can become a wide man to good effect.

    Yoane Wissa

I think we've already moved on tbh, if we do sign another striker my view is it will be Larsen. Even that should depend on Liverpool paying a premium for Isak otherwise we shouldn't be selling him either. He's one of the world's elite strikers and there's barely a handful.

People pretending football agents stirring shit up is something new all of a sudden.

This is just a new evolution of football agent tactics as far as I am concerned. Football clubs have complained about their antics for decades now, it's just evolved to a more sophisticated and obnoxious stage with this sort of behaviour.
  23. This is my stance, yet football journalists seem to think we are ready to capitulate. I'm really intrigued to see what we do because it will reveal a lot about our leadership and what the bottom line is.

Well you could argue it's probably his last chance to play for a big club and in the CL, and footballers do tend to want that.
  25. But I don't see Brentford selling Wissa for £40m, or Wolves selling Larsen for £55m, so I don't see why we feel the need to let Isak go for - by some reports - a fee of £120m-£130m if we are lucky.
