  1. We can finish ahead of both teams if the cartel keep getting the benefit of VARtel. These teams are picking up results on the back of poor decisions already, and you know that the new rules re grabbing or pulling by defenders in the penalty box are never going to go against them. There'd be hell on.
  2. Sorry read a few and I don't recall which one it was, I just remember being surprised and disappointed that we were supposedly ready to sell at that price. It could all just be bullshit of course, it's not like anyone from the club has ever put a figure on it, this is what other sources are saying.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

We wouldn't have signed Ramsey if we wanted Paqueta.
  4. They are using it, just it's been repurposed as the VARtel rule.
  5. I've grown on him a bit since I learned that Woltemade is not really a target man, but prefers to play off one.
  6. But all of this has been engineered because Liverpool want to buy him at a distressed price. My gut feeling is that they won't go above £120m which is a long way short of the £150m we valued him at, and I read one article this morning which now puts our valuation at £130m. So it seems to be working. If we sell just to be rid of him rather than for what we believe he's really worth, that would justify both his and Liverpool's underhand behaviour. I think we have to have a firm stance on this. If Liverpool really want him, they will pay his true worth.

    Nick Woltemade

He was on 25k a week before that, he probably feels like he's hit the jackpot. Tbh I think considering he's only had one good season behind him the wages are pretty high, but I guess that reflects the interest in him from bigger clubs.
  8. Ugh. Woltemade's the tortoise out of that lot then.
  9. The only reason I could see for PIF signing off on a sale to Liverpool for less than £150m is if they feel that it's probably Isak's peak value now regardless. He has had persistent muscle niggles which have kept him out for small periods of time, and his behaviour isn't what you would want if you are trying to create the whole is bigger than the parts culture at a club. There is always the risk his value could drop if he has a season of poor commitment.
  10. If we are talking reality, then Liverpool have only offered £110m so far. If Monday rolls round and they still haven't got anywhere near a respectable offer, then that will tell Isak just how much they really want him. We can then turn round and tell him, looks like they didn't rate you so highly after all mate. They were more decisive in making sure they got Ekitike.
  11. We actually have a team that can challenge for the title right now. Shame we are probably 3 points off what we should be due to Isak's antics, but in the long run we can make that up if we hold onto our assets.

Good. I'm very excited by this signing but he has to earn the no.9 shirt.
  13. Right now we have a better strike force than Liverpool. If we sell them Isak that gets reversed and suddenly they are a class above. I get that we don't want anyone spoiling the club harmony, but what would Liverpool do in our position? I think they would tell us to kindly fuck off.
  14. His pace shouldn't be underestimated either. He could cause real problems on the counter.
  15. This is why I don't understand the idea that we should accept £130m and call it a day. That would give them two excellent strikers, and leave us with one promising one who is completely untested in the PL. If someone says "but Wissa....".... we'll have to pay way over the odds for a 29 year old to get him, then undersell one of the elite world strikers to a direct rival. It's abysmal logic.

    Yoane Wissa

It's enough to add 10 years to anyone's appearance. Or do all 22 year old Germans look like they are 30+?
  17. We still need a striker who has genuine pace as a different option IMO. Personally I don't want two lanky big man strikers, not unless one of them is a Drogba replica. If we aren't getting Wissa then I would rather just keep Isak. Tbh, I'd rather we don't sign anyone else and just keep Isak anyway unless we get enough money for him to justify spending £40-50m on a 29 year old.
  18. Two beanpole strikers restricts our options if we want to play both together. You need to have at least one pacy striker to work alongside, so has to be Isak or Wissa for me.

Scousers can continue to wank themselves silly at the prospect of Isak landing on Merseyside, but unless this deal gets done I just don't see it. The ONLY way we can release Isak from his obligations is if we can sign a proven PL striker who can take his place.
  20. Plus we do still need a proven goalscorer to be signed before we let Isak go for a price we consider acceptable. Woltemade is a very exciting player, but he's not PL proven, and as far as I know, he's coming off the back of only one good season in Germany. He's still very much unproven over here so there is always some risk. If we sign Wissa, then yeah we can look at selling Liverpool Isak....at the right price.

It would also be kind of great if we didn't add Wissa....as that would probably mean we would have a strike force of Isak and Woltemade.

Looks like he could still develop strength wise as well, I know he's a big guy but there's potential to fill out and make him even more of a handful.
  23. Not at a discount price. Fuck that. If you want one of the world's best striker you better be ready to cough up the asking price.
