  1. It's because we went into this game looking for a draw we are getting this result tbh.
  2. Think we might miss Smith's protection efforts in front of the back four by the sound of it.
  3. I would have preferred to go 4-4-2 with Loven up front because for me this game is winnable so we should get some goal scorers in. Not convinced one goal a game will keep getting us three points but let's hope so.
  4. Don't think Butt is the major problem, going in with only Carroll up front and no wingers might be a bigger one.
  5. I think a 5-man midfield will play right into their hands. They'll be happy with a point from this and will set their midfield up likewise. It'll just create congestion in midfield. That combined with a static one-man attack and no natural width at all and we could end up just punting it long while they double up on Nile Ranger. As others have said we've been a bit fortunate at times and blagged a goal with a toothless attack but I really think we should be putting two up front against Blackpool and take the game to them. We've got the likes of Nolan, Lovenkrands, Ranger and possibly Carroll, there really is no excuse for a 5-man midfield. I wouldn't include Nolan as a 2nd striker, he had one half decent game up front but against Cardiff he was invisible until he dropped back into midfield. Lovenkrands and Ranger should start, I'm with you, even though we have been winning, the 5 man midfield doesn't look like providing many goals and we aren't going to keep a clean sheet every week.

    Potential loanees

Hughton is sayiing in today's papers that he expects a couple of loan signings in the immediate future, one of which will be a forward most likely. Bearing in mind Shola's injury and the fact we have Lovenkrands already here, I would think Harewood or Cousin might get the nod over Kamara, although I hope not. Carroll and Ranger are fine as atrget men, and I would love to see Kamara and Lovenkrands paired in away games.

    Shola Ameobi

He's what - 28 now? I can't remember too many spells he's had where he's injury free, even when he's playing he's usually complaining of some sort of niggle which is preventing him from performing at 100%. I was pleased for him after his fantastic start because he's come in for some awful stick down the years, but the fact is he's a perma-crock.
  8. I've said from day one that I doubt whether Keegan will be entitled to a massive settlement after walking out of a job. The idea of Ashleey suing Keegan for £2m is a joke, but so is the idea that Keegan should get paid when he wasn't sacked and there was no real question of it happening, however much he might have been pissed about. Neither side should get a penny.

    Internationals

...because they're not being coached by a clueless dwarf, you spastic.
  10. The fact that it's not our fans involved allows us to take an impartial view and see the situation from both sides not just agree with a bunch of brain dead tossers who support arsenal.

    Potential loanees

Automatic promotion might well hinge on which clubs make the best loan signings, bit of an indictment that we are no longer confident of winning the race for these signatures over the likes of West Brom.
  12. Think potentially starting a fucking riot is worse than kicking Van Persie in the face, like. The Arsenal fans were hardly blameless with their crass baiting. The stamp was much worse IMO, that could have been nasty.

    RIP sale thread.

Did Ashley really need to debt manage? He's got a lot more money than some owners and while it's up to him how he spends it, Newcastle was a daft choice if he wanted to buy a football club to run on a shoestring.
  14. It might just be a case of Man U preferring to send him to Watford where he'll get straight into the first team rather than sit on the bench here.

    RIP sale thread.

Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-1213480/CHARLES-SALE-Fraud-probe-force-Ashley-sale.html#ixzz0R7sltFsq It seems Sillius Soddus was more in tune with what he knew was coming in Daily Mail/Charlie Sale i.e Ashley willing to sell for less rather than more as the Telegraph led us to think You can only sell for the price someone is willing to pay at the end of the day. Maybe it's dawned on Ashley that he's pricing himself out of a deal (again), maybe it hasn't. The story will probably change again by the time the chronicle hits the stands.
  16. No problem with that as long as Butt makes way for Smith when his suspension's up. Only one of the two should start and Smith's much better in the air and keeps it simple.
  17. If you want to single out negatives then you could say Taylor's handball almost cost us the 3 points as well. You could, but then this thread isn't about him, is it? It isn't about Bassong or Rio Ferdinand either but they got mentioned in this thread. Is there grounds for a law suit here?

    RIP sale thread.

I don't understand why the Ameicans don't buy the club and put Keegan in charge as long as he drops the lawsuit? Surely this way everyone wins? The fans are happy, Keegan's happy and the yanks can show Ashley just how to back your manager?

  20. If Butt was just going to replace Smith for one game I would agree that he's the ideal replacement. The problrm is, once he's in the side he'll probably take some shifting. This is the issue I had last year with people saying he's a good squad player. The fact is, he isn't used as a squad player, he's always been handed a first team shirt and it will end up unbalancing the team when Hughton tries to squeeze Butt, Smith, Nolan and Barton into the same starting eleven which i guarantee he will do.
  21. Good interview. Not really adapted 100% to the English game yet, but if he's happy and settled it will help. Excellent game yesterday for the most part.

    Clean-sheets?

Before the season started I was worried about where the goals were going to come from, and despite Shola's flying start we still aren't exactly banging them in. But in all the games we've played we've rarely looked like conceding and if you keep a clean sheet you only have to score one. We are defending really well as a team and it's as much a reason for our great start as any. We are like a shit version of Paisley's Liverpool teams.
  23. Think that's just as much of an over-reaction tbh. We were very good as a team defensively today, but equally we didn't use the ball well when we had it. No one's arguing it wasn't a good result, but we could have executed the attack side of it a lot better, and by that I don't mean dominating the game, I just mean countering effectively. No harm in pointing that out is there? I agree with everything you say except the first line If Arsenal go to old trafford, score a goal - shut up shop and reduce manu to a few free kicks into the wall - that is considered a great result and performance. I just cannot see how we were awful today (as some have said) - you agree? We were not world beaters, granted. In the grand scheme of things - it was just what we needed. The difference with Arsenal going to Man U is they would sit back and look to hit on the counter, that I have no problem with. FWIW, I didn't think we were awful, like i said, from a defensive point of view it was a very disciplined performance.
  24. I think he's worth signing because he's clearly delighted to be here. One of the things I'm enjoying about this season is we have no pining superstars wishing they were somewhere else.
