    Shola Ameobi

The key to him getting goals is going to be the service. The two headers he scored were from absolute pearler crosses from the full backs. Fair play to him, he looks a different player when the first goal goes in, definitely a confidence man.
  2. He's a good player, the problem is getting him onto the pitch in enough games throughout a season and it looks like that's still going to be a problem.
  3. The right side is complete gash. Ryan Taylor is garbage. Absolutely spot on...but it's more easy to point the finger at Jonas so Taylor gets a pardon as usual.

    Jonas Gutierrez

There's nothing coming from Taylor's side though. It's all being played down the left like last week because Taylor and Nolan/Barton just can't get the ball into dangerous areas.
  5. I don't think the club see Taylor as a right back at all, so Simpson will go straight into the team given that he is our only right back. Taylor himself is far happier at RB so the club is taking a pretty stupid stance by playing him in midfield where his poor technique is more likely to be exposed. He was a fucking liability there last week, tbh. If he can't play in defence then he shouldn't be on the pitch. I wouldn't pick him anyway if it was up to me.
  6. I would be. He's finished as a premiership footballer. I've never seen him go past a player since he came here. Everyone slags off Jonas - although quite rightly - but the reason he looked so bad, is that everything was going through him, as we weren't even bothering to use Duff as an option. Jonas takes the flak for failing to the byeline and crossing effectively, Duff doesn't even attempt to and avoids criticism. Jonas is hopeless, but Duff is worthless. We're ripping Fulham off a treat if we get ay sort of money for him. He was f*cked when we bought him and has had a near career-endng injury during his time with us. so much truth it should be framed and put on the wall I second that. Every word is on the nail, and while Jonas has been getting shredded in the other thread, at least he doesn't hide. Neither of them are producing and I wouldn't be sorry to see either go tbh.

  8. Very good point. Milner looked hopeless in our team but his crosses look far more effective at Villa and for England because there's team mates arriving in the box.
  9. He'd do a job but surely there are other options who could potentially make the grade if we did get promotion?

    RIP sale thread.

Maybe he's getting paid a bonus to do the job here?
  11. Will he? Duff's best performances have usually been when his place is under threat. I remember last season when N'Zogbia scored on one of the few occasions he was given a starting spot, Duff looked far more dangerous when he came on, despite having been invisible for plenty of games he'd played in earlier.
  12. I thought the same way about Oba, Bassong and Beye but in economic and contribution terms they are all probably much bigger losses than Duff. Their sales were all justified by plenty here, so I don't see how we can make a special case for Duff now it's his turn. I think it's different here cos Duff was less of an inevitably. I sorta singled out a few players in my mind who were bound to stay - not ideal but it'd do us a favour. Duff, Taylor, Guthrie, Carroll, Edgar aswell... they fell into that category, and it's just a ballache if they were to leave aswell. Martins and Bassong were always going to go. I'd accepted it long before relegation tbh. Agree again btw, Nixon. The only reason I thought Duff would be here was that no one would pay his substantial wages. Martins wasn't that bothered about leaving, Bassong and Beye were looking for better contracts as far as I know.
  13. Yeah, that Andy Cole was an arrogant cocky twat with a poor attitude when Keegan signed him I remember. Terrible decision.

    Jonas to Pompey?

I was talking about the other players though.
  16. He's on the transfer list. It won't take a lot to get Beckford iyam. If £2m was all it was going to take he would be gone by now.

    Jonas to Pompey?

I think most of the players in our team are predictable in a different way. They won't run into space, move off the ball and generally don't want the ball much. They aren't bad qualities either, but how many players at Newcastle have them?
  18. Beckford and Lovenkrands would turn an ordinairy team into promotion favourites IMO. It wouldn't cost much more than £5m either.

    Jonas to Pompey?

Calm the hell down. You're right, that was a cheap shot at a person with low IQ. TO get back on topic, i think we shouldn't keep Jonas because he won't produce with this team and he deserves to fulfill his potential in a top-level club. And hey is Ji-Sung Park s***? Because he has no end product but still works his balls of and contributes to the team in other ways like running down on opponents, only difference between him and Jonas is that he's surrounded by good players. Fucking hell. As this is a 'footballing' thread, reprieves are order of the day. General Chat and he'd be nailed. ....coz I'm a fucking internet hardman. The hardest. Jonas is not good for NUFCand we are not good for him. You either have it or you have not. Jonas, even in another 5 years, will never be good enough. I really fail to see what anyone sees in him full stop. Tell me what he adds to our team? Somebody please. I know we are short on numbers but really, a good player? He's shit. Just out of interest, what do you see in the rest of the team which makes Jonas such a liability?

    RIP sale thread.

As I've mentioned in previous quotes, I don't think NUFC will be sold to Freddy as he's had an offer on the table for a couple of months now and the only communicaton he's had from the club is if he wants to increase his offer. Shepherd is still keeping his mouth shut though, just in case he might get lucky.

    RIP sale thread.

The only reason I have any hope that the club might still get sold is that Freddie Shepherd and Barry Moat have kept very quiet to this point. They are obviously still in there pitching FWIW.
  22. Has Ashley considered the option of offering Shearer the same terms as he was prepared to allegedly offer O'Leary? If Shearer turned it down at least Fatso could argue that he was too expensive. If Simpson was a Shearer target then at least his recommendations are being given due, and the door is open for bringing Shearer into the fold if he wants the job. I don't really believe any of this btw, but a bit of positive spin is probably due for the sake of balance.
