I heard he was quite proficient in English. I also get somewhat perplexed by people who seem to watch a different game to the one I've been watching. I haven't seen today's game as it happens, but wouldn't surpise me if he was doing a lot of unspectacular, but very important nuts and bolts stuff which often doesn't get recognised or stand out like a 50yd Hollywood pass. People need to remember these are friendlies, players are easing themselves in, and looking to play to a pattern, it might look totally different when the blood and thunder stuff starts.

He easily could you know. I was as sceptical as anyone when he kept hitting the net in pre-seasons last time round, but he got double figures in the competitions following on from that. I just think he needed a good coach who would encourage him to get into goalscoring positions more often. Other managers have took advantage of his willingness to defend, and basically neutralised his attacking instincts.

Trust our luck to have them come over in the wettest July in decades. Well, at least it can only get better from here.

I'd be doing that tbf, but I would try to crunch my nachos quietly.
-
You're not wrong tbh.
-
You got me there bro. He would barely make their cup reserve teams.

You said this last season as well, how did that turn out? No one is saying he's a world beater by the way, but throwing around vague comments like he's not that good at football is lazy stuff. He's got some weaknesses and some outstanding strengths. Like I said, it will take quite a lot of money to replace him.
-
Yeah for sure we do miss that side of his game when he's sitting deep. But it's been pointed out that sitting deeper he gets time to orchestrate from the back so it's swings and roundabouts.

Miggy's main weakness is his shooting, but he does still get goals. It will cost quite a lot to replace him, and given his other qualities re pressing, work rate, defensive willingness, I can understand why it's not the priority right now. We could have had Diaby remember, but while he's far better going forward, he's supposed to be a liability going the other way. I think he'll suit Villa far better than he ever would have us.
-
I get the hesitation to back Miggy to get into double figures again this season, but it's not beyond the realms of possiblilty. He does get into goal scoring position, and I don't think it was luck he was getting goals, I attribute a lot of his form down to Howe pushing him to get more goals. He might not score a dozen goals, but he could easily score 8-9.

He must be some player.
-
He's only 20 as well. More than likely he's make a full recovery from the ACL.

It's worth it, can totally relate. But Asda's just there and it's mostly good enough for basics, don't like the food much though.
-
If they were paying me too much I'd be going to M&S.
-
Definitely I could, but for some reason I have never made anything with pastry in my life.
-
One more player in and I'll be pretty happy with this window like. Barnes and Tonali might not be as spectacular looking as Diaby and Szboszlai, but I think they'll be more effective from a team POV.
-
It's weird, I always really fancy a flan, but then it inevitably turns out to be just slightly disappointing. Maybe I should stop buying them from Asda.
-
I knew you were holding onto resentment over that one. Fair play, it sounded like pretentious tosh at the time. It still does tbh.

Wish I played Football Manager. Feel like I'd either be miles more tactically aware, or it would just make me really confused.

Can't wait to relive the glory of last season, really enjoyed the Spurs and Arsenal coverage, so imagine how lush it will be following our own team's exploits. Especially as the season finished in utter triumph at the expense of Spurs and Miseryside.
-
We don't really need a LB with Targett and Burn both pretty capable, defensively at least, but the back up/successor to Schar is something we'll address first I reckon. Only way we buy a new LB is if we sell Targett out of the blue.
-
Four episodes just feels like a missed opportunity, should have been double that bare minimum. But bring it on, looks like it's going to have us jumping off our chairs like we scored a goal at some parts.
-
Yep that's how it looks anyway. I think we'll get good money on Ashby as well, he looks a player.

£40m is an eye-watering fee for a full back but I'm not complaining. He really does look a top young player. Very exciting signing.
