  1. "He’s the de facto spokesperson for the Saudi state’s most visible asset. This is a thing that he’s going to have to confront on occasion" These are his words, they seem pretty clear enough, I don't see how I am putting them in his mouth. He's entitled to think it's fine to badger Howe on his role, I just don't agree with him.

The one thing which I reckon he might be nervous about is claiming crosses. Pope is brilliant at those, but you do need to have a lot of confidence in yourself to commit, and with Karius's history, can't see him overflowing with it. I guess he could punch effectively as an alternatively, but I read today that missing one of those is also one of the black marks against him. Still he was obviously a highly rated keeper at some point, hopefully he'll be up for it and will be relishing the opportunity to rebuild his reputation.
  3. I think this is where the lack of overlap from the full backs can sometimes make us look less effective going forward. The goal which Spurs scored where the two full backs, Ben White and Emerson Royal combined to score on Sunday is not likely to happen here. We just haven't developed to that stage yet, our full backs are more about keeping a solid shape at the back, so puts a lot more onus on our attackers to make space.
  4. This is a circular argument where we are all making the same points again and again. You support fans harassing Eddie Howe on account of him being complicit with the Saudi regime. I say that they should shove their letters at Staveley or Al-Rumayyan or some other cogs in the hierarchy. Or better still they could just shove off.
  5. It's not outrage, just I don't hold Eddie Howe personally responsible for what goes on in Saudi Arabia, neither do I think him taking the job makes him complicit in what goes on there. You do, so do your pals who specifically sought him out to hand over that letter. Mate you are entitled to your views, I just don't agree with them, and I am SO pleased that Howe is our manager and that he complicitly took the job. I hope if we score the winner on Sunday, you'll be true to yourselves and think, I can't enjoy this knowing our manager has enabled sportswashing for the Saudi regime. I really hope you give that good consideration.
  6. Then don't watch the cup final on Sunday if you really believe he's the de facto spokesperson for the Saudi state's most visible asset. If that's how I viewed him, I think for my own self-worth I would give it a miss and probably stop watching NUFC altogether until the club was sold on.
  7. Yes, he was signing up to be manager of Newcastle United, an opportunity that comes along once in a lifetime. He wasn't signing up to endorse dismemberment of journalists, shock horror. Just like fans like you aren't signing up to it either if you go to St James to watch your team play football.
  8. If we are going to play the high press, then the likes of Schar need to be wide awake to the chance of a counter. He's been great all season, but him and Burn have looked a bit lost at times in the last few weeks. Something's not quite right at the back, it might not even be them individually, could be a collective thing.
  9. Would be a shame if Moyes left West Ham. I don't really like either so it seemed quite apt that he was in charge there. I wouldn't want someone like Rafa to end up there. West Ham seems perfect for an absolute London cunt like Pardew, they should sound him out.
  10. I find it hard to believe they are actual Newcastle fans tbh. If they were they would deliver the letter to Staveley or someone else in the hierarchy, no fan would pick Howe as the target for playing politics.
  11. I think it was handled badly from our side tbh. We got stuck between honouring Bobby Robson and paying respects to our fallen. Just a really hard day to cope with so many conflicting emotions.
  12. They weren't great, but even playing badly players like Salah, Nunez and Gakpo showed some firepower we are missing. At this point we are punching, we should recognise it.
  13. His forward ability has been patchy as well since the world cup.
  14. We just need to win the cup, anything else will be a bonus. It's been a great season, and we could still finish strong. We were never going to go a full season without some drop off in form. Look at our squad man, we hardly have any right to be ahead of the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.
  15. Which teams do you think will go down then?
  16. If they go down, which seems more likely, they'll be fucked mind.
  17. I thought he looked good yesterday tbh, played the ball early when offering himself for a pass, and got in on goal when given an opportunity. Howe will play him 100% in the final next week.

So what makes you think your opinion is offering some great insight? Are you Harry Kane ingognito? In which case yeah, I guess your views on why it was a bad miss might hold more credence. But Harry blasts a few over the bar as well.

I said already if I was going to pick a fault maybe he could have lifted it a touch. But he's a high class finisher, he doesn't usually get much wrong so I wouldn't fret about such details since every striker in the world will get some shots saved or even miss the goal altogether. Yes let me repeat, he missed it the right way.

I actually think you are shit as well in some positions, and somewhat overperforming in the last few weeks. There's not much in it.

Beating the keeper isn't an exact science. It's about instinct, judgement in a split second, and of course the keeper will have his own part to play. It might just have been a really good save. Obviously Callum could have just put it where the keeper wasn't in hindsight. Hit it with your right! Hit it High! etc.
