I don't think we've got much choice tbh, I don't see us selling either Wissa or Woltemade to fund a new striker.
-
He might. But it's interesting that it does show that Wilson is doing his job and we aren't just offering daft terms based on popularity and to keep everyone sweet.
-
I really don't see why we would unless there's a club out there who will pay fair value. Italian clubs want him but don't have the money. EPL clubs may be interested, but how many of them are prepared to pay what it would take to get him out of his contract here? When Elliott Anderson is being supposedly valued at £100m, what price Tonali?
-
He looked fine when he went off tbh. No sign of an injury before that unless I missed something. One of his best games in months as well so if it was his last game, at least he went out on a high.
-
Elanga failed at Man U, and we were chasing him in a one horse race and still ended up overpaying by more than double. No one else wanted him because presumably they'd scouted him thoroughly. Wissa I could understand based on his form the previous year, and he was obviously a short term signing to get us through the next 2-3 years. But again - it was a one horse race - why was no other club interested? They did their homework on this one as well I am guessing.
-
They've done brilliantly since Emery took over. No matter playing two games a week or one, they've consistently been up there. We would have been up there as well if we hadn't made a pigs ear of the transfer window last summer.
-
He'll do brilliantly I reckon. Hopefully the Liverpool board will want someone else, maybe with local connections like Gerrard. Or Ian Rush.
-
Yep. This is why I am sceptical of fans who think we are somehow owed a brand new stadium, training ground and the rest. I hope we get them obviously, but if PIF aren't doing it, don't expect anyone who buys us to do it. It makes no financial sense at all.
-
The value of the club might have hit a ceiling with the cap on spending meaning we can't catapult ourselves into the super league club where the really big money is. I also think that's one of the reasons why there won't be anyone willing to buy us outright even if PIF do put us up for sale. Top 7/8 finishes is not that attractive when there is no way to push higher except hope everything goes your way.

They played pretty good football even a couple of years ago. I remember us barely getting near them in a couple of games in Howe's early years. They have won the league this time round because refs are far too lenient on shirt pulling and wrestling in the penalty area. Arteta has taken advantage but I don't blame him, I blame our refereeing standards which are abysmal.
-
Hopefully Sir Jim Ratshit is too tight to offer him much of an improvement on what we can give.
-
I don't think anyone will miss it.

International football offers less opportunity to barge into players and kick them sky high tbf.
-
Same here, although like I said yesterday, I'm still not sure how much of that was just down to West Ham being shit. But still the football was very easy on the eye, and it still worries me that Howe took so long to move away from Plan A when it clearly didn't suit the players we had on our books.
-
Is it just me who is reading this wrong? Doesn't it mean that PIF could purchase huge income earning properties and use those to show a massive revenue increase as a result? We could double our spending capacity in 12 months!
-
He'll save us a fortune in failed strikers anyway. Why pay £70m for international strikers who can't get in the team ahead of him?
-
We could have asked for that if he wasn't out injured every other week.
-
This should be the next step.
-
Luke has always been a mouthpiece for the club, it was the same when Ashley was in charge.
-
He's an excellent player without the injury concerns. But there's every chance he's a permacrock, that's the issue.
-
Would still rather see the title won by football rather than set pieces which are mostly successful because refs don't penalise shirt tugging in the penalty area.
-
Everyone here seems to be taking it seriously. That's why I was surprised to hear it.
-
It could happen. Just need someone to want to buy us first.
-
Surprising if it's true. You would think they would have had major concerns over his ongoing fitness issues but if not, they are doing us a favour.
-
I just haven't seen him score one where he just passes it into the net or chips the keeper. That's generally a trait of a natural finisher for me. They show the keeper the eyes and then put it somewhere else. But I do take the point in the other thread that he can use both feet which is a fantastic strength in itself. Plus he's not had that many starts, maybe we haven't seen his full repertoire.
