well, let's see what the next few days press conferences reveal shall we? he's already stated publicly he was "forced out" right? If he handed in a transfer request he hasn't got a leg to stand on as far as I'm concerned. I doubt anyone held a gun to his head and forced him to submit the request. If he didn't then that changes things, naturally, but it'd be insane from Ashley to claim he put in a transfer request if he didn't. Not like people wouldn't find out the truth pretty quickly.

I don't understand why you have to be angry at anyone. Ashley did what you would expect any club owner to do. Carroll did what you would expect any footballer to do. If anything, my anger lies with Torres/Liverpool/Chelsea for distorting the situation to a ridiculous degree. Even then, I can't be angry with the success of others. Mostly, just disappointed with the situation and how quickly this chapter of NUFC's history has unfolded. As always, I am looking forward. Aye, angry is probably not the right word. I was sad more than anything when it broke.

what do you base any of that on dude? Don't really see why Carroll would put in a transfer request otherwise. If that turns out to be a lie and he never requested a transfer then I'll change my view obviously, but I doubt even Ashley and Llmabias are stupid enough to lie about that. more than meets the eye to this imo, with the limited info available to me right now and all of the history of ashley & llamblias at the club it beggars belief that anyone would think Carroll forced this unilaterally while Mike & Derek sat there knocking back 35m and saying "naw Aaaaandy dawn't doooo it, daaawn't go, we're ganna bild da clab arawd ya san" they're behind it somehow They knocked back 30m apparently. But no matter how much you may want to keep a player there comes a point where you really have to look at the offer on the table and wonder whether rejecting it really is the smart thing to do. 35m for a player who has six good months of football to his name as a professional? That's a crazy amount. I really couldn't blame them for accepting it tbh. But the fact that Carroll had to actually formally submit a request before they'd accept the offer implies to me that they were willing to turn it away if the player really wanted to stay. Carroll would have to know that submitting a transfer request would make him the villain of the piece in the eyes of some fans, but he went ahead and did it anyway. What other motivation could there be for him to put in the request? He wanted out.

Is Mike Ashley the worst person ever to have been associated with NUFC?

He might well be. Find it hard to really blame him for this though. -
Can't direct my anger at anyone other than Carroll over this tbh. 35m for a player who has had 6 months of good top flight football and has had numerous run ins with the law and is known for generally being a bit of a loose cannon is a very difficult deal to turn down. That said, my guess is that Ashley was willing to do that if Carroll wanted to stay. He put the decision in Carroll's hands, and Carroll told us all to fuck off and followed the money. Hope the cunt turns out to be the next Michael Ricketts, mercenary wanker.

Just waking up here... Would have been quite happy had we brought N'Zogbia back tbh, would be a significant upgrade at LW. Did they really throw the bids in with 10 minutes to go though?
-
My guess. Once Liverpool offered 35m Ashley decided he'd be willing to sell. (Hard to really blame him at that either price, IMO) However, I don't think he was desperate to sell either, so he calls Carroll('s agent) and tells him he has an offer that he'd be willing to accept, but he'll only do so if Carroll puts in a transfer request. If Carroll wants to stay, he won't force him to go and will be happy to keep him. Essentially he put the decision in Carroll's hands, and Carroll fucked us.
-
Fuck him anyway. Hope his knee injury is chronic.
-
Feeling there's going to be a bid accepted. Liverpool need to replace Torres, pretty sure it was a case of 'name your price' and we've told them 35m. Chance to be an absolute legend for Carroll if that turns out to be the case, can you imagine if he told them to get stuffed? He'd be the king of Newcastle.
-
If he leaves for Spurs or Liverpool I'll be very disappointed quite frankly. Man U, Chelsea or even Man City I'd understand, but Spurs and Liverpool are hardly superpowers in the game who'll pretty much gaurantee him medals (or in the case of Man City, a truly obscene amount of money) in the very immediate future. Sure they're a step up from us at present, but surely being a local lad counts for something? Would be class if a bid was accepted and he travelled down to Liverpool/Spurs and kicked the fuck out of Dalglish or Redknapp rather than signed a contract.

Should have an age limit tbh. No loaning out players over a certain age (21, perhaps?) Agree that loaning within a division seems a bit wrong.

Blackburn away was the worst. Knew that we'd lost the league after that, was a fucking horrible feeling.
-
That opening paragraph/sentence.
-
Fucking state of that. Anyway, some sort of penalty shootout based lesson is in order for tomorrow methinks.
-
Korean people are class at penalties like.
-
All going a bit Cutler for Korea in this shoutout.
-
Get in there you little dinger!!
-
Jesus christ what a terrible decision. Dirty rebound as well, double AIDS.
-
Fuck that free kick was close.
-
Howay Korea! Forgot this was on until just now, good game so far?
-
Would be willing to give Ireland a go, there's a good player in there somewhere for sure and if it's a relatively low cost deal then it's worth the risk IMO because the payoff would be tremendous if he gets his head together.
-
Clearly not impressed with Harper's efforts on the Mackem equaliser and has decided to possess Harper's body for the next two games. Good move IMO.

Colo in midfield. We should stick Enrique in goal while we're at it. Nobody ever gets anything by him, he's wasted at full back.
