  1. Looks like he will struggle to be in the squad now that emre and barton are coming back in. I for one wont miss him, i think he adds very little against prem teams. Useful for cup games and to cover injuries is all. ie hes no better than a useful squad player
  2. i think sam has been a huge let down so far. Hes shown a huge lack of managerial talent. His tactics and formations are poor. SO far hes been a failure. However i am happy to wait till barton is playing in midfield to judge him; if he continues to play smith in midfield then he needs the boot. Smith is contributing nothing to the team and should be a sub at most. when you compare the starts of man city vs nufc then its more than a little depressing. Even considering the difference in amounts spent. If we keep playing the same drivel we wont make uefa cup .
  3. give them owen on loan and offer em 10m for ashton )
  4. Shearer interview on bbc sport about owens injury. He recommends that dean ashton be called up in place of heskey (injured) and rooney in place of owen. Hope the ginger twat follows his advice, that could be a lethal partnership........SWP can provide the pace, and them 2 in the middle for the finishing. AM sure he will continue to score goals in the next few weeks, ashton certainly gave our defense a few problems. imo hes better than crouch or defoe.
  5. still some quality players in the gunners selection. dont underestimate this !! i have vito mannone in my fm team
  6. what about if sam converts duff to more of an atacking midfielder role. ? Bartons understudy. AM thinking medium term here. Assuming we get into europe again then next year we will rely on squad rotation. duff should be playable for either of zog, barton or milner. This could be very useful if we get fixture congestion from a domestic cup run and uefa games. For the rest of this year he should be a squad player/benchwarmer.
  7. owen over martins imo too. martins is the jnr striker and hes too eratic. He makes a great sub though. tough shit if his ego dont like it. Smith and martins could form decent enough partnership, but seeing viduka and martins could be exciting, but not sure that martins has the brains to keep up with viduks tricks.
  8. rather have better squad than more seats. Expansion can wait
  9. my team. owen zog martins milner* roz geremi Enriq cacapa taylor beye * would prefer emre or barton but neither are fit i think Viduka to be subbed in on 70mins, maybe change formation, depending on the score. would drop smit, if his contract allows it!!
  10. i thought we were crap , until one of the commentators pointed out that england women are only semi professional!! That sort of puts it in perspective. We still need a striker! Move jill scott up front!
  11. yes. far better tactically than big sam. bit of an ego maniac though.
  12. "but the striker remains in positive fettle" that journalist think hes a northener or something?
  13. was sat in a pub in washinngton dc watching that game. It was midafternoon and there was 3 of us in the pub!!
  14. i would feel much more confident if our main striker looked like scoring a goal. Aluko looks low on confidence, am bored with her scuffed shots for 30yards. She nearly buried a good strike early on but then her confidence seemed to flow away as she missed a few, all a bit worrying. Smith looked on fire today. The goal she scored from yankeys cross was fab!!! USA should beat us tbh. But i feel proud of our overall performance; the team as a whole has achieved as much as it could do given the mediocre quality of the strikers. [am counting k smith as an attack midfielder] tbh its been far more entertaining watching this then the ecup mens qualifiers.
  15. thought canada looked decent, their players actually look like athletes. The brazil side looked very good too, as technical on the ball as you would expect, but they also seemed to have pace and strngth. Dont forget those pitches in china are conference league standard, did you see the state of the one in the england/germany game!! The players had to stamp the grass back in as they played!! I agree though that many of the teams seem to lack stamina, the games are all been played at european football pace, in non european heat, thats hard to appreciate when sitting watching in chilly old england.
  16. if you are thinking about buying this, then u need to watch out for 18th, the fed may or may not cut rates, and the dow will respond either way. The ripples will spread across the pond to london. imo its pretty risky investing in NR atmo. Theres the chance of plenty of downside in the stockmarket over the next month. Theres rumours of 2-3 american banks are on verge of collapse in early october. Its unclear if the american bank will step in like the BOE has. Better to buy tanfield before 24th sep. (if under1.60) as they report 6month profits next week.
  17. jill scott had a good game. Not the most exciting of games, but i guess its good result for us. SOme of the england passing looked very poor. Great defending though. SHould be a nail bitter on monday.
  18. i think he will start with smith and martins up front, viduka maybe injured and owen will come off the bench. Will be interesting to see if beye comes off the bench for taylor. Enrique to start imo. Emre on as sub ??

whats damning for mclaffen is that he didnt have the brains to work out this `better` team without the guiding hand of injuries. basically the muppet hasnt got a clue. ANy manager with an intelligent brain would have dropped lampard after the world cup , thank god for the booing fans in the m,alta game!! Really hope we drop crouch too, he did nothing last night after he came on, just ran about in circles. Well done barry!!!
  20. germany are gonna hammer us, unless we improve our play in last third. I was really disappointed in the black striker, she was showing her nerves, but her finishing was awful. She would make a great winger, but too short for real striker imo. tbh i think japan deserved the draw as england were shit at finishing the chances they had. ENg will be very lucky to get out of the grp. If both eng and japan lose to germany, it will come down to goal difference vs argentina; assuming japan and england both win that game. tbh i dont care if england get out of the grp, they clearly arent good enough to win the cup, they just dont have decent striker. Germanys striker looks a class apart. K smith cant carry the whole team (
  21. one hour to k/o.... (BBC2)
  22. 2 of the german goals were class finishes, the rest were just an embarasment to the argies. The germans were division 1 level and argies conference north lvl. Poles apart in standard. I was impressed by the gorman strikers, looks like the england germany clash could be quite a game. England are supposed to have the best defence vs probably the best attack. looks promising. Dont think japan will be a push over, ive dated a couple of jap lasses and they are mentally strong, they seem all gigly on the surface but deep down they are honed steel; theres alot of psychological pressure on young people in japan. I think the england height difference should win the day though, anyway i am really looking forward to the game.
