By that I mean players good enough to get us promotion and sustain us when back in the premier league. Also, bare in the mind that players are easy to come by but it takes time to build a team. Scrapping what we have entirely will just make the process of adjusting all the more difficult. There would need to be a season of consolidation before challenging for promotion if we started again from scratch. Just pick them randomly and I'm quite confident they would do a better job anyway than the current bunch... You can't really believe he's on £37,000? Nah he's on £75,000, I've never seen any other wage mentioned for him other then £75,000. Apparently we gave him that because we got him for free. OK, fair enough if that's true, which it probably is. But I find it hard to believe that having no transfer fee (which goes to the club) means we are happy to pay the player (which goes to the... player) much much more. The wage shouldn't be dependant on the transfer fee. Well...when any player is on a bosman transfer there are hell of lot more competition for the signing which of course means better wages to choose from and do you really think Viduka or any other of our greedy bastards would honestly go for a lower wages instead of some more reasonable thing such as guaranteed starting place

We need to find a bunch of "Bassong's," cheap unheralded players who can do a job/be our best player. Ironically the man/men who found Bassong have left the club now. I expect a lot of Championship based young players will be signed whether we stay up or not. Shearer's been said to make some changes in our scouting system but anyone really aware what kind of changes? Just whishing he hasn't stopped our recent youth based transfer policy...as that's the only way to go especially if we go down

I wouldn't put this on our strikers...as they don't get any decent service and have it all on their own to create chances. How about that 1,6 goals per game we concede? Yet again the general nature of the goals we conceded today were really really worrying. A fucking conference side would score against this kind of defending. I think our defence did okay but it's the midfield who put them under pressure constantly. Defensively our players positional sense seems to be non-existent as they keep closing down opponents very badly. Just take a look at Butt and what happens around him on the pitch! All they need to do in this kind of a game is to stick close enough to their marker and not allow them space at all. It's a lot easier to defend than attack and did we really have any other option than defend today? The whole midfield are running like headless chicken and we've got no balance in the team at all. I was like a walk in the park for Pool today as in possession their players got like 3 easy passing option everywhere and our players did their fair share to help the matter by leaving opponents behind their backs totally unmarked. If you ask any Liverpool player I'm pretty sure they had the easiet game of the season today as it looked like a real joy for players out there... What does it tell about our squad if an unknown French youngster came on trial here from lowly Metz and goes on to pick the player of the season award? Just horrible as we're supposed to have lots of proven and experienced players for this level!!!
