JK has clearly made mistakes with subs and tactical decisions but one thing is different compared to his predecessors IMO(except Keegan and Sir Bobby) as he seems to be learning from his mistakes. Maybe he's reading the forums or something...who knows! Dalglish, Gullit, Souness, Roeder and Big Sam all made big mistakes but they never learned and kept reapeating them game after game. Of course it's way too early to say about JK but the mistakes we've been highlighting didn't happen anymore in the next games. Bad subs, keeping Bassong in the team, going too defensive after scoring etc. I'm not the biggest fan of Kinnear anyway due to his kinda boring style of play but if/when he fixes the central midfield problem(replacement for Butt in from of a more creative and flair player, and if Owen goes replace him as well) in January he defo deserves the job for end of the season! BTW...who is Andreas Arestidou? At nufc.com under Kinnear transfers he was on loan from Blackburn but never heard his name before.

I guess it was Oba who asked to be subbed off...because of the obvious injury of course
-
After the opening goal it looked kinda worrying for a while as we kept dropping too deep in the defence. After 2nd goal it all safe and the players looked so confident on the ball and that last 5 mins ball possession stat looked great. Hope JK has learned a lesson not to go too defensive when leading from the Stoke game

Has to be. Hopefully Taylor learn something from this! He's so far from the starting XI at the moment... Not sure if Enrique was MOM as he didn't impress in the first half IMO. No mistakes but when going forward a long pass up to Martins looked like his only option(last season he played some very nice passing combinations to get out of the trouble). Beye had a great game again as well! 1st away win in last 11 Premier League games for us. Something to build up for and this surely will do miracles to players confidence!

Central midfield is a huge liability in our play...they keep losing the ball constantly and do nothing surprising at all with the ball/or even without it! Every single chance we have comes through the wide players or Oba trickery
-
It's central midfielders job to protect the back4 and not allow them to be put under pressure! I think Barton and Guthrie(as a backup) can do the job but Butt should be shifted away ASAP. For so long we've been yelling for a creative midfielder and this should be our absolute priority in January. Cahill, Montolivo, Kuzmanovic, Borowski, Källström just a few to mention. A player of their caliber would do a great job alongside Barton IMO.

Great...Zog's playing only at his preferred position(or is central midfield as said earlier). 2 wingers and 2 defenders in the midfield....
-
Not seeing the game(except most of the 1st half) but according to your comments it's unbelievable how much our game has ups and downs even inside of one game. After such a positive 1st half...why JK has even asked the players to pull back and defend the lead? Why on earth to give all the keys for Stoke to come back? Haven't seen many Stoke away games this season but their record tells pretty much all of it and they managed score against us!!!
-
Ehhh? It's a f***ing terrible draw for us. Cant believe someone still has the view "its good to see us playing great teams"...embarrassing Like I really meant it that way...no matter who we play against in this tournament we're not going to make it thought the group phase. So it's better to play against the best sides IMO.

Just transferred Oba into my fantasy team. Better make it a hattrick to reward my faith Given Beye Colo Bass Tayls Butt Guthrie Jonas Zoggy Oba Owen Hoping for a trashing but just can't see it happening. I don't remember a game where we played great as a favourite. It's always the same...as an underdog we always surprise and perform at least decently but when we should grab an easy victory we somehow manage to make unbelievably difficult for ourselves. Should be at least 3-0 but probably the results like 1-0 or 1-1 are closer to reality. Surprised if we don't condece first Jose hasn't looked very confident lately. I've always been wondering what's the point of bringing in so many youngsters if they'll never gonna be given a chance!...so Tozer, Kadar, LuaLua, Zamblera & Ranger
-
Group A - Sweden, Belarus, Italy, Serbia Group B - Spain, Germany, England, Finland Great draw...especially as a Finn! Well...no easy games wasn't expected anyway but it is great to see us playing against England. On the other hand our great rivalry against the hosts won't be happening as it's 3 games tournament for us
-
Neither with Owen or Viduka. Smith and Shola are another thing though... Getting decent service has been the main problem for years and it's all down the midfield being poor and unable to create openings for the strikers. That's my opinion and I guess you don't disagree
-
Maybe so but he's out for 3-4 months...I think
-
Two birds with one stone - make Owen manager. Owen to buy the club? We're playing him a lot but not quite that much
-
I have no idea what Shola's doing to get such a praise...but his effect is clearly starting to kick in for the fans just as it did for Kinnear Maybe he score goals even by accident but what has happened to the stumbling bambi image? He's just so frustrating to watch!
-
I think we should sell Owen in January(or he'll go for free next summer for sure). And bring in another strong, big and "pacy" striker to replace Shola in the starting XI. Shouldn't be too hard to find a cheaper but better option for Shola with the little money we'll get from Owen. Negredo from Almeria or Pizarro maybe
-
JK would be mad to try that again after what we all saw happening against WBA
-
not entirely unjustified...could be shared between jonas, colo and obaaa Never for Shola...looked old poor himself once again! Every single time we made something to happen in Villa's defensive zone it was Duff, Jonas or Oba! Shola was just as frustrating as always. Classy first touch BTW - Duff has improved a lot in recent games IMO! He actually can beat a man

noticed that too. It's like they know both his moves. Who doesn't? Step overs until he loses the ball or crosses it over the byline
-
Well...we've got Butt in the engine room so...
-
Tayls close but what he was doing there?
-
Has Taylor really worked with anybody? Shola's gone AWOL...
-
BTW...Is Harper regular starter for reserves or Krul (or Forster)? If so it really doesn't help Krul's developement as he's getting no games at all! There's no point playing an old keeper who's leaving anyway in the near future(next 2 or 3 years)
-
Exactly my thoughts...Not that disappointed with Shola starting as he's done okay in the recent games(still far from good enough though) but Owen & Oba would offer a lot more anyway if they'll get any decent service! However Buttttt being back in the starting XI just amazes me...why oh whyyyyy?
