I'm fine with us spending within our means and not buying the league. We have ambition, we have good players and we win games a decent amount. My worst nightmare would be to buy the league and be complicit in the ruination of football. I'd probably stop watching if that happened... so eh, if they're less competent than initially thought? It's music to my ears.

I'm not that embarassed. I sit in an office with a mackem and a celtic fan, they gave it the biggun when I got in this morning, just said we played well for the most part and we lost the right way. If we'd have tried to defend (which we are incapable of) then I'd be more pissed off. Went toe to toe, got found out by one of the best teams on the planet. Not that bad really.

Was impressed by him in the air a few times vs Man U. Had the beating of his fullback, must have a decent leap/timing.

Did Maguire not forearm the back of Tony Gord's head whilst running and get a yellow for it in the second half? Was clearly intentional and was far more dangerous than what Burn did.

I guess you're right but I think the ref has a duty to keep 11 players on the pitch unless some serious foul play has occured and I really don't think that falling over and not asking for a foul meets that threshold.

You're allowed to fall over. Especially in a situation in which you're expecting to get clattered by the keeper. The simulation part is asking for the foul or claiming something happened when it didn't. He clearly didn't ask for anything or even have an incredulous look on his face. Looked disappointed more than anything.

Seems to Villa if you get a year and some goals out of someone and a team offers more than you paid, then the player can go.

I think he is very Kyle Walker, which is no bad thing. But aye, he isn't progressive. Can make a good run but needs to be more confident on the ball.

I don't think he is. He's direct, shoots lots. Good ball striking and movement. Not sure he is that fast.

This is exactly how I see it. The amount of money in English football means the talent is more evenly spread, with teams like Brentford, Bournemouth and Brighton consistently have some of the top scoring players in the league.

Scored the type of goals we have been asking him to score. Hope he can wrap up the hatty with one of his more ingenious finishes.
