I don't really get the point of this discussion. You're actually annoyed at him because of contract law? Or are you annoyed because you feel betrayed by a footballer you liked? The contract doesn't come into it for me. It's about loyalty, decorum etc which I think are fair enough sticks to beat him with.

No, does it matter though? People are talking about employment contracts as if they're not things that are mutually terminated all the time. You can't make people work, no matter what the job (excepting the army, which is morally shite and footballers are certainly not soldiers).

It's a fair point but I think we should be more than capable (as adults) of enjoying moments with players and accepting they have ambitions and don't think of Newcastle the way we do. Obviously we love the ones that seem to get it more than the ones that don't, but I'm still capable of looking back on Isak's goals with fondness. He's class, he was loving it, so were we. He fancies a new challenge, crack on. Shame he's made a mis-step but I think he probably regrets everything now too. Mis-calculation. Stain on the rep. The mems are still good for me.

If you think we need to get rid of Isak for world record money, a decent way of ensuring that is for PIF to give Liverpool the money to give to us... Not saying that's what happens, but if we have to lose Isak then I wouldn't mind it being for the full £150 via PIF cash.

I'm loving how slowly we're building. Would have hated it if we'd splashed the cash. We're currently doing it the hard way and it will taste all the sweeter if/when we do it. Understand the infrastructure stuff is a bit slow, these things could have a real legacy impact on the club long after PIF is gone. New stadium and training ground, improved women's tam etc will all make us a bigger club long term without ruining our image or leaving me thinking we've bought our success.

I think I'll go on record here saying he's perfect for what we already do well, so there's no reason why he won't be a massive success. I know people (including me) want to be able to be able to mix the game up with a No. 10, dominate teams and up our ball retention, but honestly I love the way we play and he's going to be great for that so I think he'll be a great buy. Good age, good stats, good pedigree, good fitness and physical attributes. We can still get a forward thinking CM who'd mix it up with big Joe. This doesn't stop us buying one of those.
