  2. Same here...pity you couldn't vote for three.
  3. if he is a free transfer (out of contract)would the fener chairman need to be told who the player is talking to? in this case he may be the last to know. I would have thought that as Fener will still be involved due to the fact they are holding his registration, then I guess he would know, yes. The fact that he specifically states two teams suggest that there has at least been dialogue between Fener and those two.
  4. In the Turkish national paper Hurriyet it only mentions Brum and Man City I'm afraid. The quotes are from the Fenerbahçe chairman Aziz Yıldırım, so a reasonably reliable source I guess. Maybe Sam just hasn't formally made a move as yet?
  5. A good summary...judging by your username you are a Galatasaray fan, or is that just a coincidence?
  6. Are you sure it's pronounced Yokdeniz? That doesn't mean anything in Turkish whereas Gokdeniz does. I saw him a few times at the back end of last season. A good player. Others who impressed me were the holding midfielder Mehmet Aurélio, and Tümer Metin.
  7. Was my first choice, but still thinking of othters.. I remember jet lagged Tino, straight off the plane and straight onto the bench. My dad took his kit down that day as they weren't expecting him to play...work permit didn't come through till late. He had to go into the club shop and get a shirt printed up with Tino's name and number on, then drive down the A19 with it and his boots. To answer the original question, for me it has to me Mickey Quinn. I'm too young to remember Supermac's.
  8. Oh yes he does. Oh no he doesn't. Oh no he shouldn't - but probably does! Aye. Probably. All I'll say is that Souness was very upset when he had Luque landed on him.....
  9. To be honest, there's a lot in that original post I would disagree with. Roeder has pleasantly surprised me. I am a big fan of his as he was club captain when I was a kid, and I'd regularly see him up at Benwell (my older brother played for the youth and reserve teams and I was up there every week moreorless). I wished him well upon getting the job, but always felt that he wouldn't have the ability to deliver. After a year, I am very pleased with how things have gone, and pleased that I am being proved wrong (IMO). Yes, there has a been a blip. Yes, he has made mistakes. However, on the whole I think he has been a welcome change and he is starting to move the club in the right direction. We needed a manager with the club at heart, who would take time to get things right right through the club - I think we now have that. Some of the performances and results have been obtained with a skeleton team, which has collectively played better than the ability of the individuals therein. The team that was missing on Sunday would have beaten the team we fielded hands down, yet we still got a draw and arguably could and should have won. Is he the right man to take us to the next level? Perhaps not. However, I do think he is the right man for us at the moment - someone to settle things down, get confidence back, bring on some of the academy lads (who he knows so well) and do it all without spending a great deal of money. The club coffers aren't a bottomless pit. Money has been squandered in the past. Part of the 15 million spent in the summer was offset by sales. With that in mind, I think a cautious approach is commendable. Lets get the right players at the right prices, whenever that may be. If we are still midtable this time next year whilst still bringing through the academy lads and steadily building up the squad then that's fine by me.

    Emre

I'm a big follower of Turkish football and was pleased with his signing. He offers enough to keep him, but provided we got a decent fee I would let him go as other areas of the pitch need strengthening. Therefore, I voted to sell him, although as I say, only for the right price. He is one of our internationally recognised saleable assets, and probably the one we would miss the least.
  11. I heard last summer that privately he was saying how much he wanted to make it work at NUFC and he was prepared to work at it. All credit to the bloke to be honest - he's certainly changed my opinion of him. The adage is, "never sign a payer from Man Utd", and until recently I would have agreed with this. I'm hoping Roeder continues to select him whilst on form, rather than just bring Parker back in as that would send out the wrong signal to everyone at the club. For once I think we might have a manager who does back up saying that 'the in form player gets the shirt' with his actions. other recent managers (Keegan, Robson, Souness) have said that but then tended to play their favourite/perceived first choice players when fit no matter how well the 'stand-in' has performed.

    Training today

Personally I think Dyer has to play. His pace alone is worth starting him and it gives defenders a double problem if he and Martins are both in there. Whether Dyer starts in midfield or up front is another point and probably depends upon Sibierski's fitness.

    Training today

Just heard from someone who was at training. The following all played a full part in the session and appear fit for selection: Sibierski Parker Dyer Emre Duff
  14. It won't be that long....initially they thought they would leave him out of Frankfurt to let it heal, but on Friday last week the medics said he would need to miss a further two, as they can't stitch it properly and that is how long it will take to knit. If he's not there against Blackburn then I'm sure he'll be fine for Chelsea. Depending on what we get from Blackburn I personally would be tempted to give him one more game off to make sure it's fine as I can't see us getting much from Chelsea anyway. We'll see.
  15. I heard that he would be missing for two games last Saturday which suggests he will be out against Blackburn. If in doubt though I would rest him against Chelsea too, although that might change depending upon how things go at Blackburn

    Bramble Injured

I think Dyer is desperate to play. Probably more like the medical staff being cautious/paranoid than Roeder, although obviously Roeder will have the final say.

    Bramble Injured

I don't think they could stitch it due to the nature of the wound (more of a flesh tear)....hence why he's been told he can't play until its fully healed.

    Bramble Injured

Because he wanted to play on against Portsmouth. Now that the game has finished and he's been in hospital with it, perhaps the club doctors/medical team are putting pressure on him not to play this week in order to let it heal properly. I bet he wants to play really. I bet he wants to play

    Parker injured...

yuck yuck yuck eh? Was told by a mate at the club. Told me after training on Tuesday. I posted about Dyer playing in the "Dyer to be back in squad for Charlton match" thread just after 9am in the morning, before it was announced on www.nufc.co.uk. http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php/topic,31010.0.html Am not saying they aren't injured - just a day before the game I heard they were being rested and bearing in mind neither played and Dyer did (as I was also told) then it seems a fair assumption it's correct.

    Parker injured...

As I said on the Dyer thread, I was told on Tuesday night that Parker and Carr were to be rested with Saturday in mind - no mention of an injury.
  21. I was told on Tuesday night that Dyer was on the bench and would come on. I was also told Parker and Carr to be rested with Saturday in mind - no mention of an injury.
  22. Ahem....see my post...fourth from the bottom: http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php/topic,31010.0.html
  23. I've heard he'll be on the bench tonight and probably come on. That's why he was taken off early against Darlo. Sorry if this has already been posted. I haven't read the full thread. Also expect a couple of senior players to be rested for the weekend. Rossi up front with Martins and N'Zogbia to come back in.

    The Final Run In

Would be surprised and delighted if we get the three points against Brum to be honest...they are doing very well atm and fighting for their lives. We might have Emre back, but that's about it unless something drastic changes this week. Think we'll struggle.
