Apparently while it is being dealt with by the law courts the F.A cannot get involved so i am lead to believe and it took so long to go to court that this is why it is so far down the line and we get all the shit while Citeh dont get involved because its not there player anymore because our ex manager wanted the stupid fucker to play for us

Whats good about this is both the player and agent want this to go through as in the past there has always been another club in for a player as well and the agent plays a waiting game till he gets the best deal for his man but every thing is sorted but Deportivos Fucking about with the fee and obviously thats the only stumbling block so imho its our man till Spuds put in a late bid to scupper it

Got a gut feeling he will be ours soon hopefully . Argentinian out to force United deal Jul 30 2008 by Luke Edwards, The Journal Fabrico Coloccini FABRICIO Coloccini has threatened to ask for Fifa's help as he looks to complete his move to Newcastle United because Deportivo La Coruña were still refusing to lower their asking price yesterday. But it seems that Metz defender Sébastien Bassong is on the verge of signing a three-year contract with Newcastle following a successful trial. The Magpies had a bid of around £8.25m accepted by Deportivo president Augusto Cesar Lendoiro for Coloccini over the weekend and Newcastle have already agreed personal terms with the Argentinian defender. But the deal is in danger of collapsing after Lendoiro decided to suddenly raise the asking price by two million euros on the day it was set to be finalised. This has infuriated the player’s agent Marcelo Lombilla and the Newcastle hierarchy, who believed they were going to be able to unveil their third signing of the summer before the first-team squad flew out to Spain for the Mallorca Summer Cup this afternoon. With the transfer apparently stuck in deadlock, Lombilla has warned his client will either invoke Fifa Rule 17 – the so-called Webster rule – which enables players aged under 28 to buy their way out of the remainder of their contract after three years of it have elapsed to facilitate a transfer, or he will report Lendoiro to the game’s governing body for the way he has conducted the deal. “I do not want it to do, but I have the right to contact Fifa,” said Lombilla, as Coloccini continued to train alone in Spain after the rest of the Deportivo squad travelled to Veneuezla for a pre-season tour. “I represent football players, not presidents or the clubs. “At the end of the day, Fabricio is in danger of missing out on the contract of his life and we might need to go to Fifa to get the matter resolved. Lendoiro has to face up to the music and it is that he should not have asked for more from anyone.” It is difficult to see how Fifa could force Lendoiro to accept Newcastle’s initial offer as nothing had been signed and sealed when the 26-year-old met with United officials to thrash out the details of his contract. Lendoiro used a similar ploy to force Newcastle to pay an extra £2m when Albert Luque moved to St James’s Park three years ago but, while former chairman Freddie Shepherd reluctantly agreed to the change in terms, the new United board have refused to be bullied. It is another frustrating setback for manager Kevin Keegan, who has still not been able to play another Argentina international Jonas Gutierrez in pre-season because Real Mallorca have refused to release his registration. Gutierrez is believed to have used Fifa Rule 17 – first tested when Scotland international defender Andy Webster forced his way out of Hearts to join Wigan – to sign for Newcastle, but Mallorca still believe they are entitled to a transfer fee. Newcastle play Mallorca in a friendly on Sunday and Keegan is hoping the disputes with both Spanish clubs will have been resolved by then – although he will be happy to hear that the Magpies have reached an agreement for Bassong. One player who will not be involved in United’s trip to Majorca is Joey Barton, despite official confirmation he will remain at the club despite pleading guilty to two separate assault charges in the last three months. Barton met with United officials yesterday morning, but Newcastle – and his agent, Willie McKay – have refused to reveal any details of what was discussed or whether the player has had to accept a pay cut to stay on Tyneside. A club statement yesterday merely confirmed Barton’s continued employment. And Keegan can expect to be grilled further on the subject when he is obliged to hold a pre-match Press conference before Newcastle’s match against Hertha Berlin on Friday night. “Newcastle United officials can confirm they have met with Joey Barton today, following which it has been agreed by everyone involved that Joey will remain with the club,” said the statement. “The club will not be making any further comment at this time.” Meanwhile, Morocco international left-back Badr El-Kaddouri has claimed Aston Villa and Newcastle both want to sign him from Dynamo Kiev.

Not one but two more Argys as well as Coloccini according to Anal Oliver Jul 26 2008 by Alan Oliver, Evening Chronicle Kevin Keegan NEWCASTLE United have set their sights on TWO Argentinian central defenders – and Kevin Keegan will be happy to sign ONE of them before he takes his side to Old Trafford three weeks tomorrow. But if United can pull off both signings they should have no trouble gelling, because they have played together in the same Argentinian national team, along with new boy Jonas Gutierrez. United’s recruitment team of Dennis Wise and Tony Jimenez have been on the trail of Deportivo La Coruna’s Fabricio Coloccini for some time now, and he was linked with a move to St James’s Park in Glenn Roeder’s time as manager. But the Chronicle can reveal that United are also looking at Coloccini’s fellow Argentinian Nicolas Burdisso, who is now with Inter Milan. Both Burdisso and Coloccini are products of Argentina’s most famous club – Boca Juniors. Coloccini is 26 and, after starting his career with Boca, he has seen service with AC Milan and four clubs on loan – San Lorenzo, Alaves, Atletico Madrid and Villarreal – before linking up with Deportivo in 2004. But he did not play in either of the InterToto Cup semi-finals with United in 2005 – both of which were won 2-1 by the Spanish outfit. What Kevin Keegan will like about Coloccini is that he is as comfortable at right-back as he is as a central defender. Burdisso and Coloccini have been together in the Argentinian side since 2003, and they have 20 and 27 full caps respectively. Burdisso hit the headlines in a Champions League game between Valencia and Inter Milan a year past March when a fracas broke out and he suffered a broken nose following a punch in the face from opposing player David Navarro. Apart from Nobby Solano and Tino Asprilla, United have not been well served by players from South America in recent years. But the beauty of bringing in players from abroad is that the transfer fee is usually spread over three or four seasons. However, United will be happy once they have completed the signing of Gutierrez from Real Mallorca, and they do not seem to have any problem bringing in players from South America. And they are still trying to persuade Liverpool to let them have their Argentinian left-back Emiliano Insua.

Imho this is looking increasingly like Owen will go even though there is time to sort it out ,my overall feeling at the moment is asking Owen to take a pay cut is all very noble but sends out a message to potential targets that we do not offer a attractive package if what has been quoted by by agents is true on players we have failed to sign previously if those are the reasons they have slipped through our net . We have fook all to offer at this minute i.e europe and this business is harming us i believe and to build a team capable of breaking into the top 6 is looking increasingly less likely as the weeks go by. Similar story as above but from our local rag The Journal. Owen wants to stay, but contract has to be right Jul 26 2008 by Luke Edwards, The Journal Michael Owen MICHAEL Owen is adamant he wants to stay at Newcastle United, but the striker has also warned he will leave on a free transfer next summer if the club do not improve their contract offer. Meetings between Owen’s advisers and United’s negotiating team of executive director (football) Dennis Wise and head of recruitment Tony Jimenez have been going on all summer, but it is the Newcastle captain who holds the stronger hand. With less than a year remaining on his existing deal, Owen can start to talk to rival clubs in less than five months’ time to discuss the lucrative terms of a Bosman-style free transfer. Owen (pictured) has told Newcastle’s manager Kevin Keegan, as well as Wise and Jimenez, that he wants to stay on Tyneside, but the England international is far from naive and feels the club need to reward him financially. Although Wise and Jimenez, on the instructions of owner Mike Ashley, have asked Owen to reduce his wage demands, the player’s representatives know they will be able to negotiate a far larger basic weekly wage if he leaves on a Bosman and have told the club to either improve their offer or risk losing their best player for nothing at the end of the season. Newcastle have, so far, failed to budge and Owen is growing increasingly exasperated at the lack of progress as he prepares for the start of his fourth season on Tyneside. A source close to Owen said: “Michael wants to stay and he will stay if Newcastle give him what he wants, but that hasn’t happened yet and the contract talks are dragging on. Michael can leave on a free transfer next season and he knows he will get the wages he wants then. He is in a strong position.” Owen’s happiness at St James’s Park is evident in the enthusiastic way he talks about the start of the new season and the positive impact Keegan has had since he returned as manager, but he will not allow emotion to get in the way of business decisions. In the club’s defence as they look to reach a compromise, Owen has still only played 47 games in three years because of injuries which, with wages of more than £100,000 a week and a club-record fee of £16.5m spent to sign him, hardly represents value for money. Owen, though, is hoping the injury problems are behind him and he can continue in the rich vein of goalscoring form which provided so much cause for optimism at the tail end of last season. He said: “The end of the season was great. When I get into a rhythm and start playing regularly, it’s fine. But since I have been here, it has been stop-start with a lot of injuries, and it is probably the first time in my career it has been like that. “I had a few niggly problems early on with hamstrings, but I have had big, major things since I have been here – it is six operations, I think, I have had and not one prior. “I finally got into a nice rhythm and you saw me score a few goals when I was in that rhythm, and that will continue as long as I get on the pitch and I am fine, and that’s the plan. “We had a good time of it last season, especially towards the end. There was a feel-good factor about the club and we were buzzing. Hopefully, we can start the season in the same vein as we ended last year.” Significantly, Owen also knows he has the unwavering support of his manager. Keegan insisted back in April the club’s most important signing this summer would be the England star on a new contract and he will also be frustrated at the failure to tie his skipper down. Keegan has already insisted he will keep naming Owen as captain, even if he does not sign a new contract before January, and he has been in the game long enough to realise top players want big money and will go wherever they can get the best offer. Supporters will also be alarmed by the lack of definitive progress on the Owen deal, particularly in light of the fact the Magpies have still managed to sign only two players so far this summer. The start of the Premier League season is just three weeks away, but only Danny Guthrie and Jonas Gutierrez have arrived ahead of this afternoon’s pre-season clash with Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium and the Magpies squad is looking alarmingly short on numbers, particularly in defence.

Thought it deserved a thread of its own tbh as the other has no relevance to this .

just got this off the Sun online ,not a great time for the lad .RIP OBAFEMI MARTINS is set to miss the start of the season after his mum died in a blaze horror. The Newcastle striker cut short his pre-season plans to fly home to Nigeria last night. Martins’ mother Alhaja, 62, died of shock in her car after trying to escape a petrol tanker that caught fire near her Lagos apartment. Brother Biola said: “Oba was closer to our mother than anyone else in the family. "He just wanted to get on the plane and find out for himself that our mother is truly no more. “He’s still in shock and disbelief and feels terribly down. Oba always consulted her first in any decision to do with his career. “Our mother stood by him when everyone else condemned his decision to dump school in pursuit of an unpredictable future in football. “He once got himself into trouble for choosing to be with her at a time she was ill instead of playing in an international friendly with Nigeria.” Martins, 23, will skip tomorrow’s friendly against Doncaster and could miss Toon’s Majorca training camp next week — making him a fitness doubt for the start of the Premier League season next month. Alhaja rallied family and friends to escape the scene at around 3am yesterday but collapsed as she tried to move her car. She had been set to move to Tyneside permanently in September. Martins’ cousin Muftau Balogun, who witnessed the incident, said: “Oba called the moment he heard and cried uncontrollably.” Martins was involved in a car hijacking two years ago when masked gunmen shot at him and a friend in Lagos.

Another player overstepping the mark at Manure and will be in Fergies bad books Manchester United ace Carlos Tevez believes Cristiano Ronaldo's desire to join Real Madrid should be respected and not ignored. The Portugal international's future has been the number one transfer story this summer after he confirmed his wishes to join the Liga giants, a move which prompted The Reds Devils to slap a 'not for sale' sign on his services. Despite Real's best efforts to prise the 23-year-old away from Old Trafford, the free-scoring winger remains on a long-term deal with The Red Devils. Tevez believes that if Ronaldo's heart is set on a move to El Santiago Bernabeu then United should be more willing to talk, a move that is unlikely to go down well with manager Sir Alex Ferguson. Great players "The [united] team has great players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, of course," Tevez told AS. "It's clear that he is a very important player for us, but this is a personal decision, which is up to only him. "I understand Cristiano. Every footballer wants to play at Real Madrid. On the other hand, I also think that everyone wants to play for Manchester United, but if what he seeks is something else, I think that should be respected. "I have not talked to him, but when these things happen, neither side feels good."

Here is wor Shays seasonal rant Given keen to see new arrivals at Newcastle Jul 23 2008 by Mark Douglas, The Journal Shay Given SHAY Given admits his concerns about Newcastle United’s small squad are growing as the Premier League kick-off draws nearer – but he remains hopeful of further recruitment in the next six weeks. United’s long-serving goalkeeper has added his influential voice to calls from manager Kevin Keegan and Steve Harper for further signings before the start of the Premier League season, expressing the need for “a good few more” players to be added to their threadbare squad. So far Newcastle have managed to broker deals for Argentina winger Jonas Gutierrez and Danny Guthrie, but with United suffering some prominent knock-backs the recruitment drive has struggled to gather any momentum. Former Arsenal winger Juan Antonio Reyes was mentioned as a possible target yesterday, but it is in defence where Newcastle desperately need to strengthen – with a centre-back and a left-back a priority for Keegan. For his part, Given is predicting that more business will be conducted in the run-up to the season, and he hopes that United will be at the forefront of any moves in the market.“I don’t know how difficult it will be to get new players in because I don’t do the deals but so far there doesn’t seem to have been a lot of movement between clubs. I’m sure it will kick-off soon,” he said. “We have got a couple of new lads in but I think we need a good few more. So it is a concern the longer it goes on. But there’s still to the end of August before the window closes. “It leaves us short but I know the manager is working hard to get players in so I suppose we should comment really at the end of August. “Then you can look further afield and see where you think the season is going to go.” United’s encouraging form in the spring prompted talk of a push for Europe next season, but Given is reserving judgement until the transfer window closes in August. Barring a determination to improve on the mid-table finish last season, Given is refusing to set any targets until he sees the calibre of the players that Newcastle manager to bring in. “Our objectives will be to improve on last season,” he said. “Newcastle United is a big club but we have to go out and show it every week and perform better and get up the league. “It’s hard to say where we’re going to finish at the moment. “We need more players before I can say that but if we get the right quality of players in we will be in a stronger position.” While United clearly need to strengthen before the season starts, they are as well staffed as most of their rivals in certain departments. Given’s position of goalkeeper is one such area – with the Republic of Ireland stopper’s return from injury setting up an interesting battle between him and Steve Harper for the number one jersey. With young Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul, who yesterday insisted his long-term future is at St James’s Park, also waiting in the wings it is one position where they do not need to recruit.

From todays The Sun ,just got this online KEVIN KEEGAN has offered £5million plus Charles N’Zogbia for Celtic’s Aiden McGeady. Newcastle boss Keegan wants McGeady to start the season at St James’ Park but knows he faces a big task in persuading the Hoops to sell — the winger signed a five-year deal on Saturday. Republic of Ireland ace McGeady is a product of the Celtic youth system and, at 22, his career is ready for lift-off. Keegan has so far been careful selecting his transfer targets. But McGeady is well known to all the top Premier League clubs, after Arsenal first tried to sign him aged just 16. He made his senior debut for Celtic at 18 and already boasts European experience, excelling in the Champions League — particularly against AC Milan. McGeady can double his wages away from Celtic Park, with squad members at St James’ picking up around £40,000 a week. And Celtic boss Gordon Strachan knows he will not be able to stand in McGeady’s way, as he too was tempted to play his football in England. Just anothe piece of trash to wipe your bottom with.

Wonder if KK is saying this now as he is having a difficult time getting a playmaker and will use him there as a stopgap till we are in a position to get a specialist in there when we can challenge the clubs who have moved above us in the transfer stakes (we have more to offer like european football etc) .
-
"Speaking of Newcastle's transfer dealings, the former England coach said: "We might not have been that successful in the market but there's a long time to go, plenty of opportunities. If the right player comes in and we think he's right for Newcastle, we'll be there pitching." Trying not to read to much into this but i get the feeling we have failed elsewhere to get the players we are after and its plan b etc .Hopefully it will all turn out ok and we will all be happier come the end of the window but a few injuries and we will be in the claggy stuff .

No evidence we were actually really in for him calm down. You guys take this stuff way too hard. We all had a bit of fun with it now move on. Matias Fernandez should be nailed on now anyway for £8m or whatever we should have snapped their hand off, one of those players who could have taken us up the table, really made the difference. I'm not starting to panic or owt but this pre-season reminds me of the Roeder regime, stinking of amateurishness To early to say weather we were in for him as there are so many lies and dissinformation on the net nowadays but if its true we missed out i would like to know how and why this is happening ,maybe he didnt fancy England or our lack of experience in these matters (selling the club to the player).KK has so much enthusiasim and i wonder if it is true that he is not involved in negotiations has anything to do with it .

Just grabbed this off the Journal website at the bottom of the Milner wage increase article thats got nowt to do with this . Meanwhile, Newcastle are believed to have become the new favourites in the battle to sign Argentina’s attacking midfielder Pablo Aimar. The 28-year-old had looked destined to sign for Portugal giants Benfica last week, but Newcastle have made a late attempt to hijack the deal and it is understood they have agreed to go close to meeting the £7m his club, Real Zaragoza, are demanding. Not that this is any more news than what we already have
-
Just copied this from this mornings Journal looks like we are doomed if we were after him at all. Aimar, was linked with a move to Tyneside yesterday but his agent Gustavo Mascardi ended those rumours by revealing that his client is set to sign for Benfica.

Hope he didnt shag any of the locals and caught H.I.V ,seriously good on him .

Waiting and wondering if there will be anything too talkabout tomorrow

Get rid of the miserable twat if he isnt happy and he will end up in the wilderness and regret it ,no backbone or commitment imho.

going public with bids where other clubs are interested is a no-no In our current position keeping it quiet is a priority especially when spurs are around
