  2. Well i had my own seat for 25 years and due to the cost had to go halfs with a mate last season ,i cannot afford my own half now and cannot find anyone for it so its on a selected games basis and the pub from now on ,its turned from a game i love into something of a monster with greed and making money from supporters the be all and end all no matter which way they try to package it
  3. I'm not sure he has cleared the debts, merely shoved them in a Topco. Though we won't know that for definite till the Topco formed files its first set of accounts. Though I do believe it is indeed part of some plan around either re-financing, maybe cash out as you say or something else. Maybe that's cynical but the longer it goes without seeing any real cash being spent, the more cynical I'm getting about Ashley's motives. Must admit when the transfer deadline passes and we have spent our little war chest and it looks like we are not anywhere near catching up with the clubs we used to s*** on i will question Ashleys motives but until then i live in hope . Agreed. It feels like everyone apart from us, Arsenal, Villa, Blackburn, Bolton, Man City, Man Utd, Boro, Portsmouth, Stoke, Sunderland, West Ham and Wigan have spent money on players. Sarcasm from you dear sir no surely not or you agree I'd be worried if everyone else was out spending money on players but hardly anyone has yet, Spurs have bought two, Liverpool and Chelsea one each and then Everton spent a few million on a player they had on loan last season, I don't see the rush as long as we get a few in for when pre season training starts. agree will worry if this does not happen

  10. Still 17 pages of only very loosely football related. It's a fashion topic. How can these go: Oooh I like this that kit, ooh I don't like that one. End of story. But this is sort of crap we've got: "The floral motif really extenuates the lines of that kit. The use of colour brings out the seasonal feel to this little number." Ooh can someone please photoshop this one, lets see what it looks like in black and white stripes. OMG, that looks great. It's a sign of my boredom level that I'm actually adding to the post count, to my vote for the lamest thread ever. lighten up this thread has more relevence than some of the shit written on here

    Arda Turan?

Martin oneill has been saying that he has no intention of buying any players on the back of them having a good tournament in Euro 08 as he rightly says a few decent games doesnt translate into domestic football as if a player is any good they (Villa) know about them anyway and i totally agree ,i remember Paborski having a outstanding tournament in 1996 and Manure bought him and i remember him being pretty much a dud so this can happen ,its a chance you take so is Keegan right in saying he will watch the finals and see what he likes and buys them .A big risk imho but is it a chance worth taking for a player at the right price ,Never seen Turan play but will watch Turkeys games while they are in the competition but by all accounts he is a cracking player if we get him .

    Mario Gomez

Newcastle in race to sign up striker May 20 2008 by Stuart Rayner, The Journal NEWCASTLE United will have to make a quick decision over who to target as their new centre-forward next season or risk the price rocketing in the coming weeks. Kevin Keegan would like a fourth front man to complement Michael Owen, Obafemi Martins and Mark Viduka next season and have been scouting VfB Stuttgart’s Mario Gómez and St Etienne’s Bafetimbi Gomis. But both now look set to play international football this summer, raising the possibility their price could escalate. After two impressive seasons in the Bundesliga, Gómez was always expected to be named in Germany’s Euro 2008 squad, but the selection of the uncapped Gomis in France’s provisional squad for the tournament was more of a surprise. His inclusion in a 30-man squad ahead of 30-year-old Juventus striker David Trezeguet will only further Gomis’ standing – and his value in the transfer market. Even if Gomis does not make the cut for Austria and Switzerland, he at least seems likely to play a part in some or all of Les Bleus’ forthcoming friendlies against Ecuador, Paraguay and Colombia, allowing those clubs who have not seen as much of the 22-year-old to make up ground on Newcastle. United’s revamped scouting team have watched Gomis on a number of occasions, with Keegan checking him out in person in March. Newcastle were also understood to have been represented in Stuttgart on Saturday to watch VfB draw 2-2 with Arminia Bielefeld in their final game of the season. Gómez scored a penalty as his side qualified for next season’s Intertoto Cup. The impressive pedigree of a player who also qualifies for Spain makes the 22-year-old an obvious and expensive target. Gómez has scored 28 goals in 32 club appearances this season and his international record is six in nine. With a Who’s Who of Europe’s top clubs supposedly monitoring the progress of the 2007 Bundesliga Player of the Year, the odds against the Magpies signing the player would appear to be very long, though it has been suggested he would prefer to join Newcastle over a club who might use him primarily as a substitute. Milan, Fiorentina, Juventus, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United are all said to be monitoring him, though Stuttgart coach Armin Veh claims his allegiance towards Barcelona makes Madrid an unlikely destination. Veh is, however, resigned to losing Gómez before the five-year contract he signed last summer expires, though at this stage of proceedings the club are demanding around £40m for his services. While making all the right noises about being happy in Germany, Gómez has done little to disguise the fact he will be going – or to dampen any interest from England. “If a major offer comes in, I have agreed with my club that I can have talks,” he is quoted as saying. “I consider myself capable of playing in the big European leagues. I watch the Premier League and it is one of the best in the world. I know Chelsea scouts have watched matches.” Stuttgart have already begun lining up replacements for their prize asset, with Liverpool’s Andriy Voronin top of their shopping list. Like Gómez, 22-year-old Gomis is a tall, physical striker (both stand 6ft 3in tall) and has drawn comparisons with Emmanuel Adebayor and Didier Drogba. Indeed, with rumours persisting of Milan’s interest in Adebayor, he could be a possible replacement at the Emirates. Marseille and Sevilla are both potential suitors. Gomis had been eligible to play alongside Drogba for Senegal, the country of his birth, but will now try his luck with France. Meanwhile, Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips – linked with a summer move to Newcastle – insists he will not quit the club in the close season. The England winger’s future has come under intense speculation as he dropped out of first-team contention towards the end of the season. Wright-Phillips has started only three Premier League games since January with coach Avram Grant opting to play Florent Malouda, Joe Cole or Salomon Kalou on the flanks. But, despite his lack of first-team opportunities, Wright-Phillips remains happy to fight for his place. He has also been linked with a move to Aston Villa or his former club Manchester City. Bit more information in todays Journal to chew on .

    Todays Rumours....

The season only f***ing ended last week The transfer window's not even open yet! Pre contract to tie him up perhaps
  22. After watching the game i thought the atmosphere overall was pretty crap and the game could have done with a goal from Cardiff to make Portsmouth come out and play it more like a cup final than a league match ,Portsmouths celebrations from the players and the fans at the final whistle was a bit understated .I just get the impression it didnt mean as much to them imho.

    Arda Turan?

Toon winning Turan race May 18 2008 by Neil Farrington, Sunday Sun NEWCASTLE are set to beat Middlesbrough to the signing of Turkish winger Arda Turan as a replacement for Damien Duff. And there is every chance that Emre will also leave United — for Galatasaray — as a big-money move for Turan, pictured left, materialises. The likely arrival of Turan signals the end of Duff’s days at Newcastle, with the Irishman having already put his lavish Northumberland house up for sale after being told he is not part of United’s first-team plans. And while Duff contemplates interest from Portsmouth and former club Blackburn, Boro could console themselves by landing United’s James Milner. Following widespread talk in Turkey of a big-money Magpies move for Turan, his agent last night confirmed that the two-footed 21-year-old may be on the move. And while the same agent, Ahmet Bulut, insisted Emre, pictured right, is happy to stay at Newcastle, he has held talks with Galatasaray last week over their former midfielder. On Turan, who already boasts 16 international caps and is tipped to star at Euro 2008, Bulut said: “One club is talking to Galatasaray and asking them to name their price. “If Galatasaray’s request is met, the transfer can happen.” That club is understood to be Newcastle, although Boro have also made enquiries about Turan on the recommendation of their Turkish striker Tuncay. The Teessiders, as revealed by the Sunday Sun in March, are ready to pounce for Milner, who had little chance to impress Kevin Keegan before the end of the season because of injury. Meanwhile, Newcastle have also made contact with the agent of Mauro Zarate, the Argentine striker recently on loan at Birmingham. Not sure how reliable this source is
  24. Dont know if im an old romantic but i would just love it if KK was selling the club with his enthusiasm to a player ,but time will tell if this works or not with the current set-up.
