I might be wrong but I feel like traditionally clubs who sell players they got on a free often sell at a cheaper price than what they otherwise would have. I haven't got any examples to back that up. The real issue is that if one of our CBs gets a long term injury and we've sold Kelly, we are back into crisis mode. It's a complete unnecessary risk... unless we can replace him.

Elanga is a good player and he'd be a good signing, depending on price. Right now Forest aren't likely sellers, Elanga is undoubtedly pretty happy and we aren't likely buyers at the price they would want. For 50m or whatever it would take, you are getting close to the price for Mbeumo and I'd rather fork out a touch more on a better player. Alternatively we could probably spend 40ish on Dibling, which would also be better value.

Clubs don't bid for players unless they already have an idea of whether they can afford the players wages, or should I say competent clubs don't.

Why sell to Turkey now when we are more likely to have clubs like West Ham (Potter would love him) or Everton sniffing in the summer. We know hes a really solid PL CB, even if he hasn't shown it for us yet. There will be loads of clubs, with more money, who would come in for him if we were willing sellers.

Lloyd Kelly is now a write off and if we don't accept whatever we are offered it's a clear indication that the ownership don't know what they are doing.
