Its likely someone who's worked with Wolves before, therefore they are likely trusted to have direct conversations more than say a buying club, or a players agent, at this stage. So someone will be talking to Wolves and the players agent, that information will be getting relayed to Newcastle through the players agent. The problem with this, is that quite often intermediaries will lie in order to use buying clubs for various reasons. Perhaps the player wants a pay rise, perhaps there is value in bringing another club to the table to start a bidding war. Ultimately, we wont truly know what Wolves want until we talk to them directly.

A reminder that the 10m extra that we have to pay for any player at this stage is less costly financially than not getting a striker in and missing out on Europe (of any description).

Precisely. Personally, I'm all in on Wissa. Anything below 50m and id get it done. Yes its a massive overpay but going into the season without a recognised striker will cost us more than the 10/15m we over pay by.

If Wolves quote us 70m for Strand-Larsen, Wissa for 45 will look more appealing. Thats the problem, we are in a place where overpaying for a player is now inevitable.

Just wondering how that plays out. A "meeting" followed by word or a "nice discussion" or an "understanding from both sides"... For him to play again, he will need a statement of some sort to the fans because hes going to receive so much abuse, hes going to want to try and dampen that somewhat.
