People said the same of Bruno and Botman. We are a big club, we have big ambition. Even when we were shite, good players wanted to join us... see Owen, Wijnaldum etc.

I still think he will be loaned out but only to a genuinely quality option. Either a top championship side who will definitely play him or maybe even a relegation scrapper in the PL. Could easily see him at Fulham or Bournemouth.

I took things from Howes presser. 1. He alluded to holding our nerve, which refers to getting the players we want (Maddison is almost certainly one of those players) 2. He talked about getting the correct feeling of commitment from players and their agents. I took this as, they have spoken to Maddison and he wants to come.

Reckon quite alot will happen when the window closes. Howe and a couple of players will get new deals IMO.

If anything it shows the opposite to be true. Spending those sorts of fees perhaps means it's impossible for players to live up their fees. Man City spent years spending money on players in the 30/40m bracket, which is a much smarter strategy.

This is a great graphic and exactly why we are trying to be cute with our money. I'd like to see the next 20 or so down that list and see how they fared. For where we are, we are better off signing Botman and Bruno for the same price as a Maguire. I do think Maddison would be worth a touch more than what we have offered mind.

It's almost as if Eddie Howe thinks that a new player can benefit from being eased into the PL. He might also believe that it's good for squad harmony if big money signings have to earn their way into the side, rather than just walk straight in. It's a non issue, we MIGHT get a couple of weeks of Schar and Burn, but it won't last long. Botman is going to be an absolute boss for us, whether he starts against Forest is neither here nor there.
