I dont entirely disagree but we are lucky we have a very good starting 11. Ive put on record i think Howe + Ramsdale is a good match and I think it will look like really good business in 12 months. Elanga, whilst not the technical players some wanted, is a tap in for this team. Wissa is a great deputy to Isak (putting the striker shitshow aside). Thiaw would be disappointing in comparison to the CBs I had in mind. McGinn would be a great upgrade on Longstaff but very much a short term solution. The real thing that gets us out of it, is having Howe. Howe tends to make water out of wine, and hes going to be asked to go to the well again. Also, a bigger issue is that 3 of those players above haven't yet signed and neither of us have any confidence that even they will get done.

Our starting 11 would be : Pope Tino Schar/Thiaw Burn/Botman Hall Bruno Tonali Joelinton Elanga Isak Gordon With a bench of: Ramsdale Schar/Thiaw Burn/Botman Trippier McGinn Murphy Barnes Wissa Its not bad like. The issue is that it could have been way better and I accept that.

NGL I think McGinn is class and one of the most Eddie Howe players you'll ever see. Im way past giving a fuck about the age, the price etc, thats the sort of thing that would have bothered me a month ago.

We are the only club who can track a player for 4 windows and manage to have a bid rejected before weve even offered it. In all seriousness, id have absolutely no issues with this signing. Had we signed him in the first week of July, id have been quite complimentary of the club sticking to their guns and getting the player they want. However, very little the club do now is going to look anything other than a panic or reactionary and I think thats a fair criticism. Had we signed Elanga, Ramsdale, Thiaw and Wissa a month ago, the debacle around Isak and another striker wouldnt have seemed anywhere near as cataclysmic but because weve focused on one area of the pitch (badly), the optics of this transfer window will always be a negative one. We need them to desperately pull one rabbit out of the bag.

Hes not choosing us like.
-
Because people keep claiming that somehow our position is weakened. Hes got 3 years. There's no logical reason for us to sell him on the cheap and no amount of outside bullshit or shenanigans should make that happen. My opinion is that we want 150m and that Liverpool will likely get to around 140 and we will deal. Liverpool have to sign him now or never. Next summer his price will be virtually the same and there will be competition.

Bailey is 1 tier above Burnsie and thats generous.
-
Fuck me lads, I dont know how many times this needs to be said. With or without Sesko, we dont need to sell Isak this summer. We could sell him next summer, no issues whatsoever and the idea that nobody else would be interested in the best striker on the planet apart from Liverpool is nonsense. The whole reason Liverpool are doing this now, is to try and get him early. No matter how much Isak may want it, we dont have to sell to them and if he had another big hitter at the table, im sure he could be convinced. He will go though, and it will be to Liverpool and it will be something like 140m.

I reckon you've undervalued a few there. Given your need for bodies. Wouldn't surprise me if you couldn't take one or two Chelsea lads, in swap for Garnacho. Scratch that, thats how you end up with shite players. Its weird how many of your players like the idea of playing for Chelsea. I'll never understand why someone would want to play for Chelsea over Newcastle or Man Utd. Such a soulless club.
-
Its also interesting that we might have signed Arsenals top striking target from this summer window. Yes hes more expensive that Gyokeres but hes also younger.
-
I think Sesko will be a much more robust and ready to go player than what Isak was. Even if the goals dont flow immediately.
-
Totally agree. Especially when it was inevitable that Isak would leave. The issue is who we are selling him to. Ive got a feeling he will do the same to Liverpool in a couple of years, when Madrid coming knocking.
-
There's definitely a whiff of Man United being used, either on the club side or the player side, to extract as much out of Newcastle as possible.
-
Sesko isnt as good as Isak, theres no amount of copium that will change that but it doesn't mean we couldn't have a better team and a better squad off the back of it.
-
Which presumably means if you were to sign Sesko youd have no wriggle room for any more signings this window?
-
Anyone else think that Newcastle fans have given Romano so much shit that hes now spat the dummy. I also think hes getting absolutely zero from the Newcastle end.
-
Liverpool will find the pennies behind the sofa, dont you worry. There's always a possibility of them hoying a player into the deal, or some easy to achieve add ons to make up the difference. They know they can't pass up Isak.
-
I can only presume a 6th midfielder is last on our list and a one we are confident we can find late on. Id be more than happy with a smart loan.
-
It will be one of Isak or Sesko and hopefully Wissa as our other option.
-
Which is exactly what we would do, however we also have the right to say weve bent them over a barrel and outmuscled them.
-
Exactly, the idea that we will end the window with Sesko and Isak is fanciful, the only way that happens is if Liverpool don't even get close to our asking price and only then might we wait until next summer.
-
Im not going to lie. I think Cunha and Mbeumo are fantastic signings but so would Elanga and Sesko, with the added advantage that they are younger and cheaper.
-
If we sign Sesko, you will see a fair bit more positivity around the place. Even with Isak saga going on, Elanga, Ramsdale and Sesko is at least getting somewhere.
-
The obvious added bonus in this, is that while our transfer window has been awful, the idea that we may have Man Uniteds pants pulled down, somewhat makes me feel better.
