Martins did everything he could in the game today. Good control, good turn of pace and two very well taken goals, without him and steven taylor we would have lost today. It baffles me that anyone could critise todays performance, he played very well IMO.

Here's my views: Given 7 Did what he had to, was blocked for the goal. Huntington 6 Solid home debut, wasn't beaten very often. Taylor (MOM) 9 Awesome performance again, undroppable. McClaren in the stands. Ramage 7 Taylors sidekick showed good communication and looked pretty comfortable. Babayaro 5 Another shocker from him, at fault for their goal. Milner 6 Would have gave him a 5 if it wasn't for his assist. Disapointing. Butt 7 Putt in a good shift. Dyer 6 Pretty anonamous, apart from a first half shot. Emre 7 Probbed but to little effect, took off injured. Martins 8 Two chances, two goals. Very efficient performance from our most threatening player by far. Sibierski 7 Look a little tired but worked hard all the same. Duff 7 Cameo assist Parker 7 Couple of good tackles Verdict: We were lucky to get anything out of this game but got 3 points after a midweek loss. Injured players are back but we need to produce better if we want to even think about beating spurs next weekend, let alone Chelsea midweek. Taylor was awesome.

Fair enough backing the manager is the right thing to do but what happens when results start going against them? Surely, you can only go so far before asking for his head. We've had some good results of late but i feel around the corner is another set of bad ones. Roeder did wonders getting us into the Uefa cup considering where we were when he took over but deep down i KNOW he isn't the right man for the job. Sure we beat what can only be descibed as a decent side. However, they are hard working and didn't make the game easy for us. Apart from their away game against Arsenal i don't think they have had a bad performance this season. The lads can take alot of pride in the fact that it was our first comeback and three goals of the season. However, the fans and players most not go over board. We have a different type of test on saturday.

Agree with that. We need a centre back in their prime and proven in the prem, there aren't too many. Distin is an option. Come the summer we need to be looking for a centre midfielder!

If we sign a left back and centre back that will be fine, so long as there both capable at this level. I'd make our priorites Upson and Bridge or Leighton Bains and Lucas Neill. We need to start our enquiring now!

I believe Emre to be a bit of an enigma. He seems to play far better along side a defensive midfielder, which allows him a free role in attack. However, i still don't see him hitting double figures in a season because i don't think he gets into the box enough. If he were to hit double figures i believe most of his goals would have to some from the edge of the area. Butt has been fantastic in the last few games but i still feel Parker is a very good player and has alot to offer our midfield. I'm a firm believer in don't fix it if it aint broken, so if Parker is fit i think a place on the bench is the best option. Come Blackburn, i want to see Dyer replace Milner on the right. We need to find someone to play left back too.

My views: Given- 6 Didn't have a great deal to do in the game apart from one save. Poor distribution. Solano- 7 Leadership along the back four and a good assist. Taylor- 7 Coming on game by game, good communication and spirit. Ramage- 7 You can tell these two have played together in the reserves. I say let them play and flourish together. Baba- 5 Poor performance and at fault for the goal. It's becoming apparent that left back is our weakest area. Boos were too much IMO. Milner-6 One of his poor peformances for us, failed to show much threat. Butt- 9 Absolute collosous. The guy is turning himself for zero to hero, keep it going butt. Emre- 8 His forreging liitle runs are a joy to behold. Hope he can more like today, what a belta!!!!!!!! N'Zogbia- 7 Worked his socks off, needs to try and beat his man and stay wide though. Get more crosses in! Sibierski- 8 Good touch, good work rate good goal. Cult hero in the making. Martins- 7 In my eyes he got everything but the goal in open play. Linked with sib well on the floor but not so well in the air. Showed confidence by scoring a good penalty. Newcastles performance: Glenn picked the side i wanted him to and we won but only because of good character. First time we have scored 3 goals this season i believe? More please! Readings performance: Very hard working side, it's not hard to see why they are doing so well. They just grind out results. Verdict: If we had readings spirit we would be challenging in the european spot right now. MOM: Butt

Pretty boys walking along the street in multi coloured scarves in mid summer is highley camp, this type of scarf wearing i don't agree with. However, when you see 40 odd thousand geordies waving ther scarves for the club thye love it does look amazing, therefore i will be taking mine.
