  1. Unfortunately Roeder does not pick 'a team' He picks what he sees as his best 11 players. If they happened to contain 9 centre forwards then thats what he would play. I have said it before on here, Butt and Parker should not play together, it should be one or the other. At the beginning of the season Roeder spoke of Parker being anothe Lampard but I do not see Parker as an attacking midfielder. I also fail to see his leadership qualities as captain. Glen Roeder must have watched a different game to me on Thursday judging by his comments. " we created enough chances to win" he said, FFS we were played off the park. Yes the defence was crap but so were the rest of them. Martins scores spectacular goals but he is not a centre forward. He does not hold the ball up long enough or well enough to allow the support players to get forward. He is in too much of hurry to go racing forward and most times he loses posession. He would be better playing off a front man IMO and breaking from deep. Sibs is a trier but he is too one paced (dead slow) and worse still totally predictable. We not only need defenders but we need balance, forwards who can hold the ball up, midfielders who can keep posession. If John Terry played in our team he would be run ragged and made to look ordinary. But most of all we need a manager who doesn't wear blinkers, a manager who sees the big picture and has the tactical awareness to put together 11 players who compliment each other and play as a balanced compact unit. To criticise his senior players openly to the press as he did is an absolute disgrace and damaging to the moral of the players. I worry what will happen when Owen comes back, how will he fit in? I fancy that Roeder will put out an even more disjointed side to accomodate his favourites. AK were the first half decent side we played against in europe and we got stuffed. In the league we have been veery fortunate to win games we should have lost. I don't see our final league position being any higher than 13th or 14th, thrashed at home by Birmingham in the cup and Roeder honestly believes he has done well. Someone needs to tell him the facts of life
  2. Dyers best position is not wide on the right as we all know but he was 10 times more effective than Milner in that position
  3. What worries me is if they score first in the away leg we could panic and crumble. Hope I'm wrong but I can't help but think that their second away goal could kill us
  4. Probably play 6 people out of postion to accomodate Carr and Emre, Roeder couldn't select a good formation if he had the pick of the EPL
  5. I said when Roeder was appointed that it was the same situation as when McLeish got the job at Rangers. Previous managers had done all the money in, no decent manager would take the job knowing that the money required to reshape the side was not available, so, lets offer the job to Roeder/ McLeish, they will be so thrilled they will accept the job on any terms. We make very little money available just enough to avoid relegation and after a couple of seasons we will sack them. Takes the spotlight off the previous cock ups made by the chairman and gives the club a couple of years to rebuild financially, then here we go again. We all know that FF is planning for his knight in shining armour (AS) to come galloping around the corner, Shearer will come in to take over a mediocre side whos fans have had all ambitions and high expectations sucked out of them, he will be given a load of money to spend and everyone will be on cloud nine. FF will be a hero
  6. Bramble was outstanding. Played with a confidence I don't think I have ever seen before. Confidence which has grown from playing two games along side Gooch perhaps? Maybe he will prove the doubters wrong (and that includes me)
  7. Luque should have been made captain, the mans a legend

    Edgar?

Agreed. I thought that Edgar showed enough class to deserve a little run of games, different class to Ramage and showed more maturity than Hunty though I think that Hunty will blossom a bit later. Typical of Roeder really, like, how the hell does Duff keep his place, Why does he get chance after chance and Luque gets nothing, how does Carr get a game and so it goes on
  9. Agree 100% Spurs v NUFC We were crap, should have been 5 down by half time. NUFC v Brum We were crap, result a fair reflection on the game. NUFC v Villa Played off the park again and fluked another result. This happens most weeks, I don't know hoe we have managed to win some of the games. Todat we 2 RBs available, but no LB so we neede to play only one man out of position. Play Nobby or the fat irishman at RB and Taylor or Hunty or Edgar at LB. Not Roeder, lets have 2 square pegs in round holes. Duff has been atrocious from day one, worse than Luque, but he will never be dropped. I'm not convinced Owen will get the nod at this rate, probably play Duff and Ameobi.
  10. Desperate for another goal, why the hell not stick Luque on for 20 minutes. Roeder is cutting his nose off to spite his face just as he did a West Ham with DeCanio.
  11. I like it like this, don't change it

    More injuries

Ramage is no loss, he's got worse and worse over the last few games, cruelly exposed I think

    Welcome back!

I like it, well done, appreciated
  14. I don't know why they rate him so highly. Big success in the league for Rangers, at a time when Rangers were the only side who could afford decent players, during the same period total crap in Europe. He went to Everton and did nothing, went and joined Manure with Sir Alex but that didn't last long either. They say you should never go back and I wouldn't be surprised to see this little fiasco end in tears.
  15. Parker to West Ham for 10mil plus Ferdinand. Oba to Chealsea in exchange for Bridge, SWP and Schev. Sounds good to me
  16. The top sides have two players for each position. The signing of SWP would hopefully illiminate the stupid waste of playing Dyer on the right
  17. Is Abba the other Newcastle player whith a surname ending in 'A'
  18. This is obviously our big new signing in the January transfer window. We could add to that with a defender (Bramble) nothing would surprise me anymore
  19. You thought this argument was so significant you started your own thread about it - and yet it it is hopelessly flawed! 1) Obviously you studied hyperbole at school today - 38 is very different from 50! Point your browser at Mr Google and see what the likes of Shilton, Seaman, Yashin and Zoff did at that age... 2) Hasn't played at the top level for more than a decade, eh? So using that argument, the last two seasons in Toon, two at Sheffield Wednesday, first two (of three) at Brescia - all but his last year at NUFC as first choice don't count for anything? 3) Young talent Krul is expected to come back from surgery straight into the first team, is he? Hell, why not just expect Shay or Harper to make miraculous recoveries while you are at it? 4) If no other clubs put themselves in such a position, then why did Ferguson pay money for a 37 year old Andy Goram? I'm not saying Pav is a top keeper anymore - nor am I saying I would name him in the team except in desperate circumstances, but the fact is that he was fourth choice for Christ's sake! That means when the three better keepers are unavailable, then Pav steps in. Can you even name the fourth choice keeper of any other club? Yes, claims of cronyism and "jobs for the boys" can be levelled at the club from time to time, and certainly Pav might be one of those instances, but as has been stated before - look at Chelsea's third choice keeper, and then imagine who might be behind him! Methinks some perspective wouldn't go astray... Magnus Hedman. I'd rather have Pav, tbh You have totally missed the point. I was asking WHY Pav was playing instead of Krul. I assumed that if he was on the bench he was fit to play. Reagarding my comment about Pav being a 50 year old, that was said with toungue in cheek, I am fully aware of how old he is having seen EVERY game he played for NUFC, my whole point was that he is no longer good enough for football at this level and I don't believe any other premiership club would have put themselves in that position. I hope that explains my light hearted opinion, which, I am actually entitled to. By the way, congratulations on your sense of humour by-pass, it was obviously a 100% success
  20. Can anyone explain why Roeder played an old man in goal, a man who hasn't played at the top level in more than a decade, when we have the option of playing youg Krul who proved his worth in the european game. By putting Pav in goal Roeder created indecision in what is a very young inexperienced back four. When Pav was at his best he frightened the life out of me with some of his decisions, dribbling around attackers, rushing out of his goal when he should have stayed put etc. He was a great favourite with the fans and still is but I think the decision to play him yesterday cost us at least a point and could well have damaged confidence and moral.
  21. What I don't understand is, why we are playing a 50 year old goalkeeper who hasn't played at the top level in more than a decade when we a young talent like Krol sat on the bench? There is not another premiership club who would put themselves in that position.
  22. Be good to see some big guns brought in. Probably cost an arm and a leg
  23. I thought he had a decent game. He is much more comfortable on the ball than Ramage and he showed a lot of composure. He also looks like a natural footballer and read the game well.
  24. Liverpool wanted to go ahead, Crouch would have been above the fog and would have pissed it
