At least Chelsea haven't managed to lure Ameobi, Carr and Ramage away
-
Abkolutely agree. Probably Daglish's best signing. Playing behind the front man he has been awsome, late runs into the box etc., could be past his best now though
-
Good luck to the lad I say. He must take some terrible abuse from people about his brother and it must wear you down. It wasn't him who committed that particular crime but a lot of people make him guilty by association. I remember the worries regarding Asprilla when he signed, stories about him being involved in far worse episodes than Joey Barton. Bellamy was no saint either, just a little wind up and a scum bag with no respect for anyone...

Sell Parker and bring Amdy Faye back, the man was world class
-
It would be nice if Owen just had the brains to say something about his situation, he doesn't have to commit himself. Something along the lines of "I've spoken to the new manager and need some time to consider my position. I've had two bad years with injuries and have not played much for the club, however, I did not get injured then miss those games on purpose. Since I came to NUFC I am now under the third manager. The fans have been great but I am 28 now and need to be sure in my own mind exactly what I want to do" Something like that would be far better than silence
-
Oh shit, I was hoping for a full clear out
-
The game was crying out for a bit of Ameobi magic
-
Would love to see Luque given a fair chance at it. If he fails at least we will know rather than wondering what might have been. If he leaves now and proves to be a decent player elsewhere I'd be really pissed off
-
I think he could be our best ever appointment and become to NUFC what Fergy is to ManU. On the down side, if he walks out at some stage for political reasons within the club, I think there would be no way back and a tumble down the divisions would be a very real possibility.

Stuart Pearce, ex Newcastle player, understands the area and the fans, reminds FF of Kevin Keegan.............................oh fuck, I'm dreading this now
-
When the clause was put in, FF and most of us would never have dreamt that we wouldn't qualify for europe, if Owen hadn't been injured things may not have turned out the way they have, so I don't blame Fred at all.
-
Won't be until Tuesday, NUFC need to inform the Stock Exchange first
-
Bring in big Sam as DOF or to work alongside Roeder and slowly squeeze Roeder out (Houllier/Evans style)
-
Harry would apply just to piss Roedent off
-
It will be another year before Shearer gets his license apparently
-
I think we will finish 14th, below Blackburn and Man City. A really successful season under the managerial genius Glen (I'm here for the long haul) Roeder
-
The nationals start to call Roeder to task on his excuses
jackyboy replied to BottledDog's topic in Football
Roeder thinks that his injury crisis is worse than any one else has ever had. But what about Man U. They lost Rooney for some time, Smith for a year, Soljsar more out than in, Saha out for long periods, Scholes was out for months with his eye problem, Heinz for best part of a season and so on. Do you hear Fergy moan? no lets get on with it and maybe win the league. Roeder is crap, end of story, hopefully another couple of defeats will see him gone -
HEADLINES The world crashed today and virtually came to an end but it was all stopped by Glen Roeder............ The man controls the world

Instead of playing follow the leader with the Chelseas of this world and keep overloading our pay structure with bigger wages and bigger squads which will eventually lead to our demise (unless another Abramovich turns up) why don't we come up with some sort of innovative restructure. Why do we need a 30 plus players in our squad on massive salaries, some of which play only a handful of games? Now we all know that the ideal scenario would be for the players to be paid a small basic wage and big bonuses for wins as it was in the KK era. For those who don't remember, at the start of KKs days the players, and KK were paid around £3K a week plus a bonus for winning at home and a much bigger bonus for winning away. Sadly I don't think that many of todays 'gravy train' players would go for that, they want big bucks no matter what their performance or teams results. So, why not have about 15 or 16 really top players on really top wages who, when fit will make up the first team. In the event of injuries or suspensions we bring in the Ramages of this world from the reserves. We know that for 2 or 3 games we can get by. Major injuries like we have experienced with Owen would be dealt with by exception and not by having leeches sitting around just in case. Players can't play that many games some may say, but how many games has Lampard missed or Given until his recent injury. Milner could have carried on, the likes of Babyara and Carr would be best done without. To rest top players as a matter of course as with Benitez is not easy to do, the players get pissed off. If the first team squad consisted of 15 or 16 players the incentive for the reserves would be massive, plus the fact that by them getting more opportunities they could well develope (or be exposed as not good enough) much quicker. The savings would be astronomical, the money saved invested in bringing the youger players through, and it would drive out the players who are only here for the money. Food for thought..........................

I'd take Mrs Alladyce rather than Roeder

Couldn't help but laugh at these comments 'Things aren't as bad as the fans seem to think' 'It's a very thin dividing line between winning and losing' 'There are a lot of teams below us and they have less points' The man is a genius FFS
-
The problem with Roeder is that he does not see or realise what a bad job he's doing. Even Souness seemed to recognise that things were going badly and it was just a matter of time. Roeder seems to really believe that he is doing a better job than anyone else could do. His talk of the players not being good enough is a load of crap. Player for player we have a better squad than a lot of teams who are sitting above us, Reading and Everton to name but two. The problem is not the players its that wanker of a manager. The worry is that with FF at the helm we could finish up with McLaren or Bruce. Having been a supporter for 55 years I have seen some rough patches but I have never felt so much despair as I do now

Yeah, play the 23rd Psalm, very appropriate

7ft tall and 15ft wide to stand between the posts

Unfortunately Roeder does not pick 'a team' He picks what he sees as his best 11 players. If they happened to contain 9 centre forwards then thats what he would play. I have said it before on here, Butt and Parker should not play together, it should be one or the other. At the beginning of the season Roeder spoke of Parker being anothe Lampard but I do not see Parker as an attacking midfielder. I also fail to see his leadership qualities as captain. Glen Roeder must have watched a different game to me on Thursday judging by his comments. " we created enough chances to win" he said, FFS we were played off the park. Yes the defence was crap but so were the rest of them. Martins scores spectacular goals but he is not a centre forward. He does not hold the ball up long enough or well enough to allow the support players to get forward. He is in too much of hurry to go racing forward and most times he loses posession. He would be better playing off a front man IMO and breaking from deep. Sibs is a trier but he is too one paced (dead slow) and worse still totally predictable. We not only need defenders but we need balance, forwards who can hold the ball up, midfielders who can keep posession. If John Terry played in our team he would be run ragged and made to look ordinary. But most of all we need a manager who doesn't wear blinkers, a manager who sees the big picture and has the tactical awareness to put together 11 players who compliment each other and play as a balanced compact unit. To criticise his senior players openly to the press as he did is an absolute disgrace and damaging to the moral of the players. I worry what will happen when Owen comes back, how will he fit in? I fancy that Roeder will put out an even more disjointed side to accomodate his favourites. AK were the first half decent side we played against in europe and we got stuffed. In the league we have been veery fortunate to win games we should have lost. I don't see our final league position being any higher than 13th or 14th, thrashed at home by Birmingham in the cup and Roeder honestly believes he has done well. Someone needs to tell him the facts of life
