So who could we sign that would pacify you?
Colos Short and Curlies replied to Dave's topic in Football
You know what. I am pacified. Until Keegan comes out and says that he has been undermined by the board and Wise in who he can sign every player signed is a good un for me. And if KK wants a player to stay (including Smith) then also fine. As of yet we don't even know if KK fancies the 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 or 4-4-1-1 etc etc. Therefore how can we judge the logic of his signings? If it doesn't work Keegan will fall on his sword, then the inquisition can begin. Until then, IKWT -
Better than Emre's too. Didn't Beye score from a corner this season? Faye against ManU? Was a corner, wasn't it?!?! And Cacapa from a corner What really worried me about our corners last season was how often they led to a quick attack on our goal, starting with Bolton away

What are your expectations for next season?
Colos Short and Curlies replied to Dave's topic in Football
I expect to be in the UEFA cup fight due a fluke season of luck with injuries and decisions for once -
Koller?

Cath doesn't read the football forum right?

Phil Neville cost us the title by injuring Gillepsies ankle at Old Trafford. Oh and those two Geordie Cunts Shearer and Fenton did us no favours either

Danny Guthrie signed from Liverpool on 4 year deal

To put it in perspective a 21 year old Gerrard was no world beater. Very few centre midfielders are at that age. -
Ah wank, what a fucking carry on they're going to be to get to. Aye for the away fans anyway.
-
Relegating them does not benefit the teams who have 'kept to the rules' so to speak. a 30 point deduction theoretically removes one relegation spot. Promoting another team punishes Luton but benefits no other. Or something to that effect. Gonna put a fiver on them staying up anyway, worth a punt

Hence why M&S food is struggling and Netto/Aldi etc are showing increased sales?
-
Exactly. The bloke can't win. Everyone has moaned on about his silence on the issue. Now that he has come clean, people moan about the paper he used. It's crazy bonkers I tells ya. Just to be clear, I made the point re the ES v the EC in jest, I'm a big MA fan and couldn't give a shit if our executive team (various) are based in London, infact I can see benefits in terms of convenienience for meeting agents etc.

Mirror today reckon we've agreed to pay £5m - his release fee -
Exactly my thoughts, I'm not his biggest fan and I don't really see him as much of an improvement on anything we've currently got at the club. Did nowt at Reading to make me think we should have matched Chelseas wage offer. Darren Fletcher's being linked with Everton for slightly less than the Sidwell fee being bandied about. Not great, but still a good player imo. Apparently Fletcher has signed a new contract last week, not that the papers are bothered about this! Also, if Carlos leaves there have been whispers of Keane being approached as a number 2 there

He would only play for Barcelona yesterday. He'll be lowering his cut-off criteria by the day

Llambias: sale stories are all utter nonsense

I think there is something in the Murdoch thing. Think back to 96-97 time, Murdoch trying to buy Man Utd, we are their number one rivals. Which paper was the fake sheik from - the NOTW, owned by none other than Mr Murdoch. Since then we've made ourselves an easy target for him to sell papers with, so why wouldn't he continue with a negative spin on the Toon? -

Ashley is in it for the long haul, was told today he has been having a good laugh about the stories all weekend (my boss is mates with his chief purchaser (Pete somebody)) (disclaimer - no one in their right mind would turn down say £500m for the club but Mike is definitely not looking to sell) -

Jonas Gutierrez signed from Mallorca on 5 year deal
Colos Short and Curlies replied to magorific's topic in Football
Tevez is hard running but has skills. From what i see, Jonas is like Emerton. Hard running and do the simple things right but do not expect him to a flair player like Ginola or Robert. I say he is like a bigger version of Milner with (sad to say) less skills which is not really inspiring. Think he will fill in as one of the right/left backs if needed cos his workrate and defensive qualities are his main plusses. Hard running, quick, decent cross, lack of silky skills. Sounds like a Gillespie type to me -

Anyone else get the feeling from the agents comments that not one formal bid has been made yet for AA?

Llambias: sale stories are all utter nonsense
Colos Short and Curlies replied to a topic in Football
Apart from an private equity firm that deals in sports (mainly broadcasting) saying they were approached, there is no proof what so ever. Had you heard of said media firm before Friday? Lets say they want to move into the British market. What better way to get your name into the mainstream press than talks over 'buying' a football club? Even if Ashley denies it (again), their aim is accomplished -

After reading that I expect some on here to take it all in and use it against the club. How does the phrase go? "no smoke without fire"? mackems.gif mackems.gif mackems.gif mackems.gif Thats some conflict of interest in the Bin Laden household. One puts up buildings, the other brings them down -
Llambias: sale stories are all utter nonsense
Colos Short and Curlies replied to a topic in Football
They claim that someone offered them the club, that doesn't mean it's true. Again, why would they lie? To get their name into the British domain for future plans? We;ve already denied it, not going to do it again so a perfect media opportunity for a media company me thinks
