  1. Although true its not really the point is it? The signing of Bellamy and Robert helped transform the team and for 2 seasons were 2 of the main threats we had. Its irrelevant what has happened since then to the argument, we need signings such as those two - i.e not world stars but talented individuals who can win games and bring the best out in others
  2. Bellamy and Robert were practically given away tbh ,Owen did not set the transfer fee and in recent weeks has shown his worth and with good signings around him he will show football he hasnt lost nowt and will take us back into the top 5.Getting back to Bellend and Robert they are both there own worse enemies and frankly Sourpuss had to get rid and Robert has been shit since he left us . Byut signing them took a mid table team and turned it into a Champions League team. Suddenly Shearer had a foil, the team had balance, there was an alternative to putting everything down the right wing and we had blistering counter attacking pace. A (fit) Bellamy and Robert (of the 2001-2002 vintage) would have made a marked improvement to this team too.
  3. Keegan didn't sign Kelly did he? Went for Pedro myself, run very close by Lee though. Without those two (and possibly Les) there would have been no Shearer
  4. Didn't Fred also come out with something similar (or it may even have been this story) then the following week we signed Andy O'Brien for about £1m?
  5. What I said and this as well. Very cynical IMO. And I'm cynical as fuck. "A good piece of lateral thinking" Was it Phillip Green who said this to Ashley on the plane back from Hong Kong? Some retail billionaire with no knowledge of football anyway. I wonder why a retail giant was consulted and why he thought it was good thinking? They've become mates, Green has taken Mike under his wing a bit since the floatation of SD
  6. Commentator after the goal 'Fianlly some life from the Newcastle fans' Thought we'd been fuckin awesome all game tbh
  7. Bring on two strikers that can't score, in place of two that at least have a proven goal scoring record?' Or a striker who has lost his apetitie for the game and a striker who goes missing when you need people to stand up. God my spelling is awful! 2-1. Owen and Dukes
  8. Bring on two strikers that can't score, in place of two that at least have a proven goal scoring record?' Or a striker who has lost his apetitie for the game and a striker who goes missing when you need people to stand up.
  9. My silver lining..... Cardiff and Swansea are piss easy to get to for me
  10. I'm standing behind Keegan trying the formation, said before kick off it was a good idea. It hasn't worked, time to change it. Smith for Dukes at some point this half, Carroll for Owen and Zog for Enrique (Jose has done as well/bad as any but despite their shortcomings we need the bite of Barton and Butt this half)
  11. Tempted with Carroll, but as much as I hate to say it... It may be a right kind of game for Smith to come on and rough the Brum defence up
  12. Steve Harper has a gentlemans posture. Never seen a player so straight.
  13. Usually get the felling that pre match chat always seems to build towards us losing an important game. This time it feels like its building to a win. (Fingers Crossed smilie)
  14. I'll put it in print here. That is a good selection by Keegan tonight. No excuses from the players if they don't get a result
  15. I think a lot will be revealed in the Summer, not just how much money Keegan is backed with but what sort of players he's targeted, from that we'll be able to understand why he couldn't attract them in January. It's been a shit season without doubt, I just hope now they've got there man the club can start moving in the right direction, we've just got to see this season out. £100m if he can spend it. Or so I've been told
  16. .....brothel in Spain. Can't see Mort doing that. Morty knows how to party, don't you worry about that!
  17. Who was the Cardiff kid they said Everton & Liverpool are interested in? I turned it on just as they were talking about it near the start of the match and couldn't make out who they meant Aye it was him. The way Cardiff are going financially they won't be in any position to be rejecting bids, if thats how he plays consistently it won't be long til he moves up a level. Talk of £5m down here in Wales and he'd be off
  18. How long are you going to give them? Less than the first year by the looks of things. Already explained. Morts attitude and comments have shown him to be naive and foolish and could yet see us surrender our premiership status. Those who have put prudency before the quality of footballer in the dressing room have nothing to complain about, they are getting what they wanted. I recall some comments and actions by Shep and Hall in their fledgling years which could be deemed naive and foolish. Mary Poppins anyone? From what I've been told Mort accepts his shortcomings and doesn't want to get involved in valuing players and sealing bids - one of the reasons behind the three wise men. This isn't a Fred bash post btw, just pointing out that everyone is prone to errors of judgement whilst finding their feet
