Niall Quinn: Tyne/Wear derby the most passionate in England
Colos Short and Curlies replied to Stevie's topic in Football
It depends where you sit really. In most parts of Goodison and Anfield you can get away with sitting in with home fans but if you went into the Lower Gwladys or the Anfield Rd End as an away fan in a derby then I don't think it would be pretty. Stevie- Liverpool fans throwing stuff is nothing new. We get spit, coins and piss every year because their club lets their fans sit in the tier directly above the away section instead of segregating it properly. Anyway, since when did most passionate mean most trouble? I was in the Gladys street lower tier in 2002 or 2003 (can't remember which) - Gerrard scored early doors. Heard nothing but whinging reds fans! Maybe people were too depressed to kick off. If I'm thinking of the right one it was an early saturday game and a gutless performance by us. I hated that day. Yeah it was an early kick off. Still maintain that I saw more passion in a Liverpool ManU game than the derbies though, though with Everton improving recently maybe this has also changed, its been a while since I was at one -
Considering its a semi final of the Champions League contensted by 2 English clubs, has there ever been a semi final with so little interest in the 180 minutes football? The pre/post match interviews are going to be far and away the most entertaining part of this contest. God forbid if the dips manage to come away with a lead or a scoring draw, ITV best get ready for their lowest ever football ratings if that happens. Good way to catch up on some sleep though. Anyway, I hate both teams for different reasons, but I'm hoping for a Chelsea win for 2 reaosns: (1) Anything to stop the dips going on about 6 times (2) Looking forward to the 3 match shootout to determine Chelsea and ManUs trophey haul

Can't speak for any of the cockney or Manc derbies, but for passion our's pees all over the Merseyside one. Fans happily mingle and speak up when in the 'enemy' stands during the Merseyside derbies I've been to - probably due to Liverpool regarding ManU as the true North West rivals (I'm sure that if Everton were one of the big four it would be different). I'd wager that the passion in London is diluted due to the number of derbies they play each year, and apart from each other I doubt Arsenal and Chelsea fans see any london team as a big threat. Birmingham v Villa just doesn't seem like a vicious rivalry - perhaps because the bluse have always been crap? Norwich v Ipswich is supposed to be canny, and the Glasgow derby pishes over them all really -
Robbie Eliott walking his dog in Morpeth. Still can't believe he got a million pound signing on fee with us!

Nicola Berti? Stefan Freund? Tarrico!

Its not just the money though is it. I'm sure Shepherd will give Glenn £20m to spend or so, but it is unlikely to do any good because of the way the club is structured What other club has the chairman (alledgedly) picking and choosing which players he will sensibly bid for? What other club with any ambition of the top 4 look to replace Bobby Robson with Souness then Roeder? What other club (alledgedly) states openly to managerial cndidates that Shearer will one day take over? Again it doesn't matter if it is Fred or Belgravia or the Sultan of Brunei who is in charge, if the club contiues tobe run like this we will forever be in a spiral of mid table to top four (through a lucky appointment) back to midtable. And contiue to waste millions on overpaid underperforming chimps.

Who was that narky little German or Argie midfielder that Spurs had in the late 90's? I remember one game against Man U he was snapping at everyone, acting the big man then he snipped at Keane by mistake. KEane got up and the Spurs man ran away. None of my mates can remeber his name or recall if he was German or Argie!

Why not exactly? Because they don't fit in with your suspicions? Excellent piece of research NUFC06! They are not a great guide as there are so many more paramiters to look at. For example, how many of the games where Taylor and Ramage played was Harper in goal, Parker and Emre/Dyer in the middle and Luque on the left wing for example. Also who were the games against etc etc Stats in isolation make good reading, but are pretty meaningless really. Bit like saying Shearer only scored 6 goals (made up number) in the 97/98 season. Look at the bigger picture, he was injured until Feb

You can't mention Fuchs without an honourable mention to Kuntz

Can't be bothered to read all 16 pages. 2 of the more colourfull entries from USA94 Jorge Campos (what a goalkeepers shirt that Mexican Number was) Alexas Lalas (I think it was Alexas - or maybe Alexia or something. Hime with the beard - now Sporting director at LA Galaxy)

Off the top of my head didn't both Ranieri and Houllier (not sure on good ol Gerad tho) say that they would like the job? Both much better than the pigeon

Massive Keegan interview with John Gibson

That was his actuall words: but because too many people around the club, off and on the field, didn't know how to win something Curious to find out who is he refering abot off field people? The same reason that Spurs won't win anything in the next few years. -
He's still great on pro evo as the middle of a front three

Even Gemmil has turned! Though it was one hell of a pass

Doubt he would be interested, left Preston because he felt that tje expectations there did not reflect the realities he faced, he chose Derby as he felt the reverse was true and he would have a better chance of achieving success -
My family is split down the middle, Mam's side all die hard Mackems, Dad's Geordies (Granda used to work with Wor Jackie no less). Mam's dad has had to take a 'passing' interest in both sides and due to family ties I don't dispise the dorty unwashed as much as most (mild hatred I'd put it as)

So say we had won the UEFA cup and received say £10million prize fund 9made up figure - I don't know the prize fund) would it be fair to include this in turnover as its a one off cash injection? Not denying the ratio is high, but you have to include all your costs and income however they arise

"ran out of cash"? but hang on, isn't this the same NUFC plc that you claim pays out dividends whether there was a profit or not? Vic, Profit and cash are not the same thing. Profit (or loss) includes depreciation/ammortisation etc which have nil cash impact. Admittedly in the long term profit is realised as cash, but looking at it in a 1-5 year span wold mean that it is the cash position (and accumulated profits) that dictate a dividend - hence the shares taken as divi a couple of yers back -

(a) Can't find anything on the final numbers from 2006 - but in the prelim (i.e. not signed by auditors) accounts no dividuend was proposed for the year. In terms of cash dividends I don't believe that any have been paid for a few years now, they took additional shares in lieu of dividends a couple of years back. (b) Depends on how they are paid/how the club structures transfers - i.e cash up frot or installments. If you've got surplus cash, why not. As a plc its expected no matter how a company could put the cash to better use -
