  1. Fuck off. That's only a yellow card.
  2. Didn't see Rooney run out of the tunnel so he may have been subbed off.
  3. That was only over Barton. If we can get past that ... If we can get past that?!?!?! It's kind of a big stumbling block considering Barton won't be leaving the club £££££'s and a long-term contract. Lets not head down that route again.
  4. Out of all these posts i cant belive that only a handful of posters has pointed out the most important thing he said in that entire article...bollocks to the signings, its the quote above. It show how ignorant nufc fans are when they are unable to assess the effects of there booing on a players performnace. In the end, we're all supporters and thats exactly what she should f****** doing. In my humble opinion you support till the very last second. People are quick to point out how "we are the best supporters in the world" its the same people who seem to forget that at times, we can also be the most destructive. Good post mate. It's imperative that the fans, especially those going to home games, realise how much they can actually affect the game. We can't have players not being confident when performing at home.
  5. You have to realise that the boy has a life to live as well. We would be calling him stupid if he had stayed on here and get something like 10 games a season. Same reason people Harper gets some stick. He seems to lack 'ambition'. Chopra had to move on, which he did, and then a career opportunity came up which really was impossible to turn down. Honestly, if you have a chance to move from an average first division team into a Premiership team on the up (can't believe I said that), would you really turn it down? If you have pride and confidence in your ability, you say yes instantly because you believe you'll succeed and then you can move onto bigger things. That's why Chopra signed for them.
  6. Maybe it's just because I'm not Geordie, wasn't born anywhere near Newcastle so I don't really feel a territorial rivalry with Sunderland, so there's no fucking way I'm turning down £4m to play for them. No fucking way. Pride over money for your family? Fuck off. If anyone actually uses the excuse of 'pride' then they're incredibly selfish. If I can sort out my family's life in 4 years, bet your arse it's done in a second. Family over pride, any second of the day. Question: Do you think Wayne Rooney's family talks to him? Didn't he say 'I'll never ever sign for them' and then went on to sign for Manyoo two or three weeks later? Do you think his family has no pride? Do you think he has no pride? Bear in mind the step up from Everton to Manyoo, and the step up from Cardiff to Sunderland is actually quite comparable.
  7. Suppose you're right. Man City, Spurs, Villa and Everton will be the teams we'll watch for, it's no coincidence we have fans from those four teams contributing to our boards as they probably feel the same way about us. Yep. City was the real surprise of the day (excluding us ). Played really well (according to my City mate) and picked up a really good 3 points away from home (which was one of their weaknesses last season). Everton did what was expected so no worries there. More said about the Spurs result the better
  8. Didn't see it. At least he didn't in the first 10 seconds of his celebration. Ran to the corner and did a little jump then the camera cut away I think.
  9. The more teams that are likely to challenge us drop points now, the better. Villa have dropped at least a point today, and Spurs have dropped 3. Good stuff.
  10. Good for the boy I say. Good finish as well.
  11. My hands are up, I doubted this signing from the first time it was mentioned, especially for the £6m fee. However, what a great start to his Newcastle career. He has the drive, passion and actual ability that's been missing from our team for awhile (especially center midfield) and considering the ANC and how we'll miss Geremi then, this signing already looks like an astute one. Well done Sam. Geremi Barton Smith TASTY! PS. Knee-jerk as fuck what a great start!
  12. Great start. Wow. Unbelievable first half an hour. Smith was every-fucking-where. Already a legend in my book. Geremi was involved though it's obvious that he can be more influential. Milner stood out, was always trying to get involved and the boy has end product now. Great game for the kid, really proud of how much he's grown up in a couple of seasons. A few bad points - we didn't create many chances though obviously we didn't have to by scoring 2 so early. Still, it's something I haven't really seen ie. creating chances from open play. Our defence still doesn't look comfortable. Whenever I see Carr my heart just goes weak. Really need a good RB, especially if Solano is fucking off to WH. Saying all that, what a fucking first match we're gonna win the league
  13. It'd be stupid if we let them 'buy out' their contract. Dyer's contract isn't worth £6m, and if it was bought out, would be for something like £3m or £4m, not the £6m we were going to get for his transfer fee.
  14. Wouldn't mind this at all. Getting something from the Reebok has to be a must. We havne't done anything there since the SBR days.
  15. A draw will suffice though I think this is the perfect time to pounce on Bolton. Their squad isn't any better than it was last season (which means Sam will know exactly what to do), and I reckon there's still uncertainty about Sammy Lee and all. 1-0 to us? Or is this the 'start of new season' syndrome when everything's still golden in my eyes?
  16. definitely, Parky. Scanning through this thread I can't believe people have mentioned names like Miguel, Kallstrom (note - we should never sign someone with a girl's name) etc.
  17. Hopefully our away record will not be as bas as Sparks' prediction. Sam should be able to improve it significantly from the Souness and Roeder days.
  18. Diego or Deco. We need to buy quality, no reason to buy potential. VDV is the typical show up on some days, not on other day player. Sneijder is more of a winger who would be a luxury in Sam's system. We need someone to dictate the pace of the game from the center of the park, someone who has the ability to open up the other team with incisive passes, has a good shot on him and isn't afraid to dribble with the ball - only two fill those critiria well enough. Diego or Deco.
  19. Given and his groin has been an ongoing problem for quite a while now. Lets hope it clears up once and for all.
  20. Whos that girl in your av Decky? Should be illegal to have those kind of pictures on a sunday when im hungover Megan Fox.
  21. Eh? 02/03 - VRoy scored 25, Henry had 24 and Beattie had 23. Manyoo won the title, Arsenal came second and Southampton finished 8th. 03/04 - Only player who scored more than 25 goals was Thierry Henry (30). Pretty sure he guaranteed Arsenal a top half finish. Well, actually, they won the title. 04/05 - Same shit. Henry scored 25, second was Andy Johnson with 21. No one else got more than 14. Arsenal came second. The only anomaly in all the cases is Johnson's Palace who got relegated even though he scored 21 goals. 05/06 - Henry scored 27, VRoy scored 21, no one else had more than 18. Pretty sure Henry really helped Arsenal in that season as well. 06/07 - Drogba finishes top scorer with a measley (relatively speaking) 21 goals, Chelsea come second. If you have a striker who'll get you 20 league goals in a season, you're almost guaranteed a top half finish, let alone a striker who can get you 25, who'll, historically speaking, guarantee you a top 2 finish. In regards to Sven, people still think too much of his time with England. Comparing clubs and countries is like comparing fruits and vegetables - the two things are just different, they cannot be compared. Sven's job as manager of City will mean he'll be in control of many more factors that will affect a player's performance than when he was manager of England. Bear in mind that. And also bear in mind his exemplary record as a club manager. City will be a force to be reckoned with, especially if Thaksin keeps the money flowing. I said early 90s... And I was referring to your comment 'Today such a player won't even guarantee you a top half finish'. Such a player being a 25-goal striker I'm assuming? That's why I've shown you that 'today' (ie. in the last 5 years), any team that has a striker who scores 20+ goals is guaranteed a top half finish, and furthermore, is probably actually guaranteed a European place. The only anomaly was Andy Johnson and that, to an extent, can be explained by the fact that he scored something like 10 penalties.
  22. I fell asleep during that match in a bar at Dublin for a brief spell, that's how much I was enjoying it. This match has to be better than that one. There is no way two good teams can cancel each other out in such a way again. blueyes.gif Well, at least I'm hoping so.
