  1. i'll give him 5 weeks! defeat off the mackems will be the final nail in his coffin. Sunderland wins against NUFC always end up working out good for NUFC. They helped get Sir John to take over beating us in the play offs(if we'd gone up that year McKeag would have kept control with us being in the 1st Div) and got rid of Gullit which meant Sir Bobby came in.

    Alan Pardew

his interview with david craig will be an absolute sham. It'll be buttered up and Craig with have been promised a couple of exclusives in return for giving him an easy ride.
  3. harper made his comeback today in a 7-1 win for the reserves against Boro today, even saved a penalty. Surely he won't come straight back in the side?

can people on here who use twitter not message the journos they follow to ask them to grill Llambiar and make the b****** squirm.

    Ray Lewington

actually don't think that would be that bad an appointment, although i don't know much about him i think he is an experienced and respected coach and has a decent reputation in the game.

I'm getting on it too. i'm hopeless with decimal odds? whats that in real odds?
  7. Should just be a constant Chrissy Hughtons black & white army (we hate ashley) chant all game.

    Alan Pardew

5 years??? lets pray to god its not going to be Pardew, just him coming in would be a nightmare but coming in on a 5 yr contract would be the craziest decision in the clubs history.
  9. i can't see how we can posssibly attract a decent manager to the club when Ashley is in charge. The man is destroying the clubs reputation on and off the pitch. We've all heard the stories about the behaviour of Ashley and his cohorts in the boardroom and directors box/lounges. Numerous clubs have voiced complaints. its quite funny that Hughton was supposedly reprimanded by Llambias and Ashley for milking applause after beating the mackems but those were the guys who conga'd around the directors box celebrating the previous victory over them! Then we get the onfield reputation and his treatment of his managers. Not many people who come on here rate Fat Sam but he is a well respected, influencial and popular manager among his peers, Keegan is one of English football all time legends, Shearer like KK is not only a legend in NUFC but also nationwide and one of the modern PL greats and again has huge respect among his peers in the game. Finally Hughton, again hugely rated and respected in the game and i doubt you will hear a bad word against him from his fellow coaches and managers. With a history like that i can't see how any self respecting football manager could even contamplate working for Ashley. Also we have the rumours of the new man only being offered an initial 6 month deal and he won't pay any compo. That just smacks of smalltime thinking and showing no ambition whatsoever, we should be going for the best man available and if that means paying money to get him so be it and then back the new boss with at least a 2.5 yr deal and back him with funds, bringing in a new manager and not having the confidence in his abilities to do the job for more than 6 months is just retarded.

    Alan Pardew

to be honest i couldn't tell you if he's improved the reserves, he hasn't been in charge of the reserves long enough to see if any difference has been made. I don't think he's some type of tactically astute coach though and would probably put him as average at best. The few reserve games i've been able to see the reserves in action he isn't very vocal, just seems to stand at the edge of the dug out and watch the game.

    Alan Pardew

Pedro is one of my all time favourite players but all i ever hear about him is how muck of a t*t he is. Maybe Pardew and Pedro as his number 2. John Anderson said on the radio he thought that Pedro would be the Assistant Manager. After all, that's what Ashley wanted and Hughton fought against. i think Ashley plans to have Pedro as the new managers no.2, maybe thinking that having a legend like Beardo on the coaching staff will appease the fans unhappy at the appointment of the manager. Again another error of judgement by Ashley.
  12. WHAT?! I can't think of a season in the last 5 years where we've been on the Telly as often as this. looks like you had the same reaction as me. If those 2 clowns think we need a big name manager so we get on the tv more then they are even bigger idiots than i first thought. I don't think the likes of sky and espn even think about who the manager is when picking games, they'll select us for tv mainly because we have a big fanbase and are good for ratings. They know if we are picked people will watch.

    Paul Barron

This could be terrible news for the club, i don't think there's many goalkeeping coaches better than Barron. He's very highly rated.
  14. I assumed he'd just c+p'd it? He might have, but I'd still like to see him post on here more often - good poster. haha no i just c+p'd it. That was Mick's work.
  15. true faith take on events... As is only right and proper, the first thing this gobshite fanzine should do is to register its thanks to Chris Hughton. Like many I had reservations of Chris’ suitability for the post and after publishing a cover with our new departed manager as a puppet of Ashley (a cover I regret and apologise for) it ill befits me to suggest I was in any way a loyal supplicant to Hughton. Whatever the rights or wrongs of Chris Hughton’s dismissal it would be extremely churlish to do anything other than register heartfelt appreciation for the job the man did at Newcastle United. Chris Hughton will be judged as a very good servant of Newcastle United Football Club. Let us not forget where the club was when he picked up the reins. We had been relegated, Ashley wanted out, Shearer wanted the job, there was a pool of demoralised players and a fretful support bewildered at what was going to happen to our club following relegation in May 09. Into that Hughton built something. The first job was to stop the rot and with the support of senior players, not dissimilar to SBR ten years previously, Hughton did that with a team spirit and sense of purpose which took us to promotion and a title win. Our return to the PL at the first time of asking was absolutely vital. Hughton had little money to spend over his tenure but I feel in Williamson, Tiote and Simpson he has invested well for the future. The jury is out on Best and Routledge but his role in the development of Andy Carroll cannot be understated. This season, the team has had mixed fortunes but after 16 games we have 19 points, which is not too far from where we want to be. He has done this despite, it seems, being undermined by his bosses firstly with media tales of Ashley looking for a successor and latterly by being unable to replace his lieutenant, Colin Calderwood, now at Hibs. Really when Chris was prevented from appointing a seemingly willing Steve Clarke, the writing was on the wall. And now to the meat of it... Is Ashley right to dismiss Hughton? Frankly, it is too early to say. If there’s one thing we know about change at United, it is that sacking managers is the really easy bit. The bit that the club has only really got right on two occasions in the last 40 years is appointing managers. Ashley stumbled over Hughton. This is a real test of Ashley’s credentials - found to be sadly lacking in football terms over the tumultuous three years he has spent as owner of our club. This is where he can prove he knows what he’s doing and inspire some confidence going forward. Get it wrong and the club could go into a tailspin. Remember there has been no clamour from Mags to remove Hughton. Indeed, the support has remained solidly behind a man it has broadly come to like and respect. There are no delusions on Barrack Road these days. If there ever were. Mags know this season is all about survival and we were happy to engage with that project for the long term future of our club. This sacking is all of Ashley’s making. There was no pressure from Mags. Chris Hughton has not been howled out of Gallowgate like Souness was and the most common emotion I’ve come across is incredulity at Hughton’s departure and a sadness we have broken a bond with a man of quiet dignity who got the job done. A man who was honest, a bull-shit free zone and a man who will be welcomed back here any time. On the face of it there is potential in this decision for the club to move forward. After all, a new manager could be in-situ ahead of the January transfer window opening rather than closing as has been custom and practice on Barrack Road in recent seasons. If that manager is of the quality, say of a Martin O’Neill and is correctly resourced and is operating to a realistic plan then we should have hope for the future. If Hughton is replaced by an Alan Pardew, Curbishley, O’Leary or God forbid, Joe Kinnear happy to make non-football decisions at the instruction of his boss, then we will know emphatically the club is going absolutely nowhere. Once again, the club is at a crossroads. But finally on behalf of everyone associated with true faith may we wish Chris Hughton all of the success in his professional life and happiness for his family in the future. Thank You. Keep On, Keepin’ On...
  16. how much can we raise selling Smith and Guthrie? even though they are crap surely we could ship them out for the £3m that it would cost to get Kranjcar from Spurs.
  17. SWP would be a massive improvement on Routledge, plus SWP needs games, i'm sure if he's playing every week then he'd start to look like the player that looked so good when he was at City first time round. However for a NUFC point of view i think a winger like Bentley would be better for us as he could put crosses in that Carroll would love.
  18. what strip will we wear? all 3 of our strips will clash?
  19. Barca were absolute class tonight, the passing and movement is awesome when they start with there 1 and 2 touch passing but the thing i love best about watching Barca is the pressing and desire to win the ball back, opposition defenders never get a moment on the ball before they are under pressure, the Barca front 3 (although more messi & pedro than villa) must win more tackles in a game than most midfielders in normal teams.
  20. whats the odds on Barton coming back into the side, getting booked and ends up suspended for the liverpool game?
  21. are they still in the carling cup? if they are then any suspensions will be in that and they'll be free to play against us.
  22. happy with a point and happy that they got the game on as i don't think we'd have got a point if we had to play them after xmas and they had Lampard and Essien back in the side, even if we had the likes of Barton,Colo, Nolan back for us.

    Shola Ameobi

he had one of those days today when nothing when right, tripping over ball, bad first touch etc.
  24. a home tie against someone crap would be nice, after the xmas games we need a game that we can win with the kids/reserves and rest the main players so they can recharge their batteries a bit.
  25. the pitch should be fine as they can clear the snow off it. The thing that will put the game in danger is the surrounding areas, paths etc... health and safety rubbish. We desperatly need the council to pull there fingers out and get the roads and paths cleared.
