My mate missed the match last night as his lass went into labour at 4pm, baby girl was born just after half 7, he sent a text just after 8 saying they were struggling for names but after whats just happened at SJP they've named her Andrea Carol......

i'm looking forward to see what that football expert called Ronaldo made of the game, 2 of his posts of his i read when i was on my dinner at work were quite interesting, apparently Hughton needed shooting if he played Andy Carroll and Fitz Hall is crap...... well although i like to see a player play about 10 games before i judge him, tonight Fitz Hall looked a very solid defender and definately not crap and i hope Hughton hasn't shot himself.....

the police didn't want Newcastle and Sunderland playing on the same day with Northumbria police covering both games then you had the problem of Leeds playing at Hartlepool on Saturday they didn't want Leeds and Cardiff travelling to the NE at the same time. Ideally we'd have played on the Sunday but as we are playing Derby on Tuesday NUFC said play on Friday and the police agreed.

There were Cardiff fans locked in Rosies and the police had Stowell St all cordonned off after the match when we were going to Aspers after the game. it was kicking off at the top of Stowell st and around st.james metro just before game, although nothing massive. We spoke to a copper after the match and he said it had been kicking off since 3pm.

I've only seen the lad play about half a dozen times, but he's been f***ing gash every single time. Does absolutely nowt. I wouldn't be too harsh on him, as he's not this amazing midfielder that Chris Hughton believes he is. He's a little poacher of a goal scorer, and should still be up front. At youth/reserve level he was decent enough, and still does the job in youth games at International level. His confidence will be going to s*** being forced to play out of position. i don't think he's been a striker for a while now, definately played the last 2 seasons for the reserves in midfield I can't remember seeing him score a goal. I remember seeing him for the first time in the youth cup a few seasons back, he partnered Carroll, i remember bigging him up to my dad on the way as this hotshot England centre forward but he had a mare and missed at least 3 really good chances. When he broke into the reserve team as a striker he rarely impressed and ended up moving into midfield, he even played centre half a few times in his last season for the under 18's. He must still have a good reputation with England as he has somehow managed to get into the England under 19 squad this season!!

i've been saying all season that i can't believe he hasn't had a sniff of the first team while the likes of Donaldson does. He's streets ahead of Donaldson. I know he's nicknamed kaka cos he looks like him but maybe he's now starting to play like him too!! lol

Not sure i would have Dyer and Woodgate down as wasted talents, there talent is there to see, unfortunately its injuries that have held them back not talent.

It would be great if they did £1 & then advertised it to f***!!! it'll be the usual £3 and £1.50 concessions but hopefully they will get it advertised properly and get a decent turn out. The semi final home leg against Man City a few years back had over 5k, hopefully we can beat that. We were torn to shreds by MIchael Johnson, Daniel Sturridge and Kelvin Etutu that night mind! Tonights result is a cracker, not sure what West Ham were like but they are a club like Everton, Man City and Villa who are renowned for their academies and youth team. We've still got Vukcic and Ameobi to come back into our team as well, although not sure if they will be fit for the quarter final.

Forster has improved so much in the last 18 months its unreal, always been a good shot stopper and now looks like he's hopefully sorted out his kicking which he seem to have done. I honestly thought he was finished in the Northumberland senior cup final against Blyth a few seasons ago, had an absolute mare, was getting horrendous stick off the Blyth fans behind his goal, it got so bad that he was taking goals kicks and barely kicking the ball 30 yards. He was eventually subbed at half time and replaced by Krul.

i was going to say i have my doubts that he'll chuck Best straight into the starting line up but just thinking ahead he might give Best his debut on Friday, rest Carroll and bring him back for the away game where we will revert back to the Nolan off Carroll formation that worked so well on Saturday.
-
spoilt for choice when it comes to keepers!! i haven't been too impressed with Johnson and Robinson(think thats his name), if Jak Alnwick gets a growth spurt we could have another excellent keeper on our hands as well.
-
Actually Rich thats not that young, pretty standard reserve line up, mostly between 18 and 20 i think. I think Spear, Henderson, Taylor, PAge and Leadbitter will be in the youth team squad the following night and then they'll be on the bench. The key players for the youth team are Alnwick, Tav, Inman and Airey. Then you've got the likes of Dummett, Newton, McDermott. Looking at that squad you forget how many players we have under the first team. Missing off that list is also the likes of Baheng, Vukcic and Forster.
-
All our strikers whether its Shola,Ranger or Carroll get terrible service, there's not that much you can do when the ball is pinged at you from 30,40 or 50 yards, arriving mostly between waist and head height and you've got a big lump of a centre half up your arse!

Whats the odds on the BBC getting banned from SJP?

What this business about Chopra at the Palace game?
binnsy replied to Big Geordie's topic in Football
it was more he bottled the chance to score but then hit a ridiculous over hit pass to the back post when all he had to do was roll it across the 6 yard box to give someone running in an open goal tap in and win the match. -

Kieron Dyer signs one-year contract extension with QPR

Wonder if he'll do a Steven Carr, pack in but after a year of rest and not working on "gettting fit" end up making a comeback. Perhaps doing nothing may just help his dodgy hamstring. I think alot of his problems have happened from rushing back from his injuries. -

He's a Geordie, who supports NUFC, he's at virtually every home game when he's not playing for Cardiff. Playing for Sunderland shouldn't make any difference, i doubt someone would spit in Lee Clarks face if he was at the match supporting his team. -
well he's already played for 3 teams in the PL and never looked like a solid midfielder for Liverpool, Bolton or us. Didn't make it at a top side and hasn't stood out in 2 teams who struggled.
-
Thing is though he wouldn't get into WBA midfield, you've got Mulumbu as the defensive midfielder so he'd be in competition for one of the attacking midfield spots and Brunt, Dorrans, Koren and Thomas are streets ahead of Guthrie.
-
Thought he was crap today, yes you can give him the excuse that he was out of position on the left but then again he ignored the fact he was meant to be playing left midfield and just played infield, messing up our shape. Even when Smith &Nolan went off and he played in the middle of a 4 man midfield he seemed slow and ponderous, got caught on the ball time and time again. If he wants a place in the centre of the midfield and displace Smith & Nolan then he needs to buck his ideas up, get fitter and start imposing himself more. In saying all that i'd still say he's had decent season but needs to improve still if he wants to get a game following the new signings.

Just noticed we've done our usual trick of having a reserve game(scunny away) on Tuesday the day before the Youth cup game away at West Ham. Strange.
-
If i was Victor Moses and just watched the Newcasrle v Leicester game i wouldn't be signing for us.

How can anybody hate Spurs(or any other team for that matter) more than the mackems?

just seen that Zidan has scored in the African nations semi final, not sure how he's playing but i've always been impressed with him, good speedy striker that could do a good job for us, not sure where he's playing now, he was at Hamburg last season but moved i think.
