  1. heard it for about 2 mins in the Gallowgate and me an my mates couldn't work out what was been sung, all we could make out was the whey ya knaa bit! Might have sounded briliant in the middle of the leazes corner but it didn't catch on. Got to say while the game yesterday was very poor it was also a dreadful atmosphere, whole ground was like a morgue!
  2. Don't think England Under 21's are a long ball team and Carroll has fitted in well with them, been excellent, scored goals and had good reviews from the likes of Pearce. but then you know best ;-) He's got 2 goals for them, lets not pretend it means more than it does. 2 goals in 4 games at International level at U21 and 4 goals in 8 England Under 19 games. A 1 in 2 ratio at International level means quite a bit actually.

  4. he's not quite that bad!! lol there's worse than him.
  5. it'll be typical of the mackems luck to get re-instated in the FA cup should they go before the next round!
  6. i reckon it was a pull not a twinge and will be a 4-6 week job, has a history of hamstring trouble so doubt he'll be rushed back.
  7. Couldn't agree more, Tav is the reserve team right back, play him in his normal position. Don't make 3 or 4 changes to the team when its not necessary. If he plays to his full potential he could stay there all season, the lad is a good player.
  8. me too the team i picked was me thinking what the players might go for. Mine wouldn't be that different same back 5, maybe Chopra up front and a 5 man midfield of Ambrose, Dorrans, Whittingham in the middle with Adam Johnson and Cleverley
  9. i've only picked Nolan cos i think he'll be nailed on to make the PFA team, he's won about 3 player of the month awards so far this season!
  10. i'd forgot to post my team HARPER GUNTER TAYLOR COLO ENRIQUE AMBROSE NOLAN DORRANS WHITTINGHAM CHOPRA EARNSHAW reluctantly went for Earnshaw, the strikers are hard to pick cos most of the top scorers are midfielders!
  11. Charlie Adam is a good shout, forgot about him.
  12. I know the season is only just over half way but this is the time of year when PFA start voting for there player of the years and get votes for the different divisional teams of the season. Lets give it a go, pick your personal choice and the team that the players in the league will pick. Think our team will dominate the defence, expect Harper to get the keeper vote, Jose should be LB, expect Taylor or Colo or even both to be centre halfs, Nolan will get in the team but don't think he'd get in mine, Smith could get in on reputation but can't see any of our forwards making it.
  13. jesus, can't believe the penalty Ipswich got compared to the ones we didn't get in the 2 games against WBA. Wish we'd had that ref in one of our games.
  14. James Taylor isn't a left back, he's a centre half/right back but nowhere near as good as Tavernier.
  15. he's a better bet than throwing someone like Donaldson in at right back, i rate the lad, he's a promising young player, still learning, better going forward than defending and although its a big jump from youth/reserve football to the first team i'd have no hesitation throwing him in on Wednesday. Will we be able to play Williamson, he can't possibly be match fit, hasn't played for pompey and if the southern reserve league is anything like the northern one he won't have played any competitive football since early/mid December.

haha chris bit early to think about the final, we'll have to be on top form to beat West Ham.....but if we do i'd fancy us in the quarters at SJP with Vukcic hopefully back to get into the semi final. Last year the semis and final were on Setanta but don't think they're on tv this year.
  17. yes think it is, especially at the currrent time, think the last reserve match was early December, so say someone like Tozer gets thrown in against Palace he'll have had no match practice for 7 weeks!! he could well be a bit rusty!! The reserves did play an indoor practice match against Gateshead when it snowed but not sure how competitive that was.
  18. When Kadar signed, his first season playing in the reserves he was playing left back and looking very good, first time i saw him play at centre half was the away game against the mackems when he broke his leg stopping Henderson scoring, he was immense that night. Since returning from that injury he's played mostly at centre back, although not that often for the reserves due to injury and being on the fringe of the first team.

If the under 18's can beat West Ham in the next round of the youth cup we have been drawn at home in the quarter final against either Stoke v Hull/Palace v Derby.
  20. Don't think saturday was any different to his games at the likes of Barnsley, basically its just down to the fact that he's useless.
  21. Got to play Tavernier, the lads a really good attacking fullback, probably actually better going forward than defending but he's a fullback and got to be a better bet than putting Tozer(a poor centre half) or Donaldon who is well to be honest despite watching him for about 3 years still not sure what his best position is, started as a highly rated striker but couldn't score and ended up a midfielder but not that good a one! Ended up playing a couple of youth cup games at centre half and the couple of times he's came off the bench has played right back!! Colo has played right back plenty of times but if he played RB it would mean Tozer and Kadar as the centre backs and not sure i'd want that!

Good win, looks like where hitting some decent form ready for the youth cup game at West Ham. Any news on the scorers? I'd expect Inman & Airey would be among the scorers if we got 4!

    Danny Guthrie

i'd take all of the 5 WBA midfielders that played tonight for my team before i picked Guthrie. actually no, i would have him before Mulumbu but the likes of Koren and Dorrans are much better.

    Danny Guthrie

a hell of a player?? i'd say he's a steady average player, when i think of "hell of a player" type i'm thinking of Messi, Xavi, Kaka, Gerrard etc. Sorry but Guthrie is not a hell of a player.
