They cost money, who knows how much is going to be made available, either with Ashley here or any potential new owners. If there was money to replace Shola and the other players who's contracts are running out, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Agree 100%, and until we know there is any money available we can't afford to get rid of players as we might not be able to replace them.

This. No point just giving him away, at the very least he is a good squad player that can cover us for injuries. Though having said that, unless he gets the amount of games hes got lately I think he will realise he really needs first team football at this stage of his career. He'll be off in the summer i reckon. If thats the case, and as many predict Owen leaves, I think we will have a bigger issue then as our only strikers will be Martins, Carroll, and an ageing Viduka.

Redknapp predictably went for Ronaldo, Souness said Messi but at least went into detail as to why he thought that, basically saying that he's also a dribbler, but you don't get all the theatrics, plus you don't get fans of other clubs hating him which cannot be said of Ronaldo. Redknapp tried butting in saying that it was just because he played for Man Utd, and Souness' reaction of disgust by pulling a face and going, "Nah, nah, nah, I don't buy that" to it was just fantastic. I have to say, 80% of the time Redknapp does talk a load of sh1t!!

It was a dropball in arsenal's half and the kiev player thought fabregas would play the ball backwards (as normal in drop ball) so didn't contest it... but fabregas instead does an amazing ball forward for bendtnar to score! At the end of the day there is no point keeping a player that doesn't want to be here... and nearly every window for the past couple of years he's made it pretty clear he wants off. Just hope we spend the money on someone decent.

Yeah was saying this the other day. Think Sunderland, Blackburn and west ham are in real trouble this season. They are all playing really poorly, and west ham a bit like us have an uncertain future with the owners wanting out (and saying they are not going to spend). Guess you can add us to that list as well, but we keep showing flashes of a half decent team.

Yeah i agree. Its taking those chances that makes you a good team, and as results show we haven't. At least we can live in hope that should some click with our lot and we start winning more than not we've got a lot still to play for.

None of the top 10 won this week, thats never happened in the premier league.... this is such a crazy season. I can't believe we are only 5 points off 7th! If only we had a bit of consistencey and won a few games we'd be in the top 10 easy.

I think its more of a case of players wanting to leave the sinking ship if offers come their way. On top of the players who contracts run out (harper, owen, ameobi are the ones i can remember from the top of my head) JFK is making it clear he wants to try raise some money to buy others.

Zog will be off, as he's the only fringe player that could bring in any decent money. Reckon at least one of the strikers will be off... if not Owen then Xisco (loan with view of permanet deal). If we got offers for Geremi or Cacapa I think they'd be gone too.

Both teams very unpredictable. It would be typical us after a good defensive performance against Chelsea away to go on and let 3 or 4 against a Boro team that find it difficult to score. As its already been said, we really need some big performances for this game, especially from our midfield lads. I expect JFK will go for the same team that started against Chelsea, but this time he'll start Ameobi instead of Martins. Dunno why, just got a feeling he will want to give shola one more chance before viduka arrives on the scene. Either way we really really need to put on a good run now, the club needs it. The longer we hover around the relegation zone the greater chance we're not gonna tempt anyone half decent to be crazy enough to test their luck here in the transfer window. And at the same time less chance of keeping our own players when their opportunities to leave come up. Head says 2-1 to them, heart says we'll get something out of it.

west ham are probably gonna lose their next 3 games anyway, so in the grand scheme of things that was probably a good result for us.

Yup thats what I was thinking too. Martins, Owen and Viduka are our best players, we can't afford to leave any of them on the bench. While Barton is out its either Butt or Geremi... think it could still work like, but its gonna be a long while before Viduka is match fit.

I did wonder who the "fringe" players JFK was saying he wanted to sell to raise some money. I think he'll be gone, just hope we can get some decent cash in for him. Sell him for £5m, get Riise for £2m wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

Wasn't this the same 5 that conceded 2 against wigan at home last week? Not sure that they'll be able to pull off the same type of performance we saw today for the rest of the season I'm afraid. But for now, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Another good thing is that we've now played Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea all away from home this season... get liverpool out the way as well and we should be able to realistically go for 3 points in most our other games for the rest of the season.
