Despite my post above btw I would prefer us to sign Ince myself as I think he does look like a real talent and plays in that wide forward role where I think we really need some quality.
-
Same outlay? I'd be fuming if we spent that on Ince. Thankfully we wouldn't anyway. Why? You'd be fuming if we spent it on Ince but not on PEA? I wouldn't be bothered at all. Ince is clearly miles better than his division suggests. Sometimes you have to pay going rate Well for a start, Ince can't play up front which is what we need so somebody else would need to follow him in. He's a good player but I wouldn't want to be paying much more than £4m for him though. As for the going rate, it's fine paying it when it's justified. Not many people would bat an eyelid if we spent ~£10m on a versatile front man like PEA or an established striker like van Wolfswinkel. If we spent that money on Ince there would be a lot of queries surrounding the fee, just as has happened with the Zaha transfer. 4m? You'd be lucky to get a player that good for that price. Why is it okay with Van Wolfswinkle, he's not established? He could come here and be absolutely awful? I think if we could get ince for 7/8m it would be a great piece of business. I guarantee he will be worth a lot more in the future How can you say Van Wolfswinkel is not established, especially in a comparison to Ince. He has several seasons of top flight football behind him with a 1 in 2 ratio. He's clearly established.

I presume this lad can play as a wide forward?

Krul Debuchy Thuram Moore Maldini Davids Yaya Toure Messi Cabaye Bellamy Cole Good team but I'm not sure about Carlton Cole up front.
-
Just seen he was at Lille for a season a few years ago. Send Agent Cabaye in.

I like the comment "marveux is a poor mans Aaron Lennon, more suited to be a sprinter." I mean, I don't even know where to start.

You could put Marveux there and have either Jonas, Bigi or Perch in midfield. -
Christ is that the fifth time that Mirror article has been posted?

I'm never switching it off agin until the deal is done.

Am I being intensely stupid or did Fat Sam not get sacked the season before?

Is there a normal scouse accent?

What are these rumours?

How can we really be unhappy with these players when they come into the first team when they have been given 0 opportunities to develop on loan? It's so rare that a young player can step into a premiership team and handle it without having loan experience first.

Ba scores

It seems he has done very well in both his loans (Gateshead & St. Mirren). It'd be good to see him tomorrow but I'd really want to see him do well in a loan in the championship. Still two half season loans of regular football is great. I just wish all our youth (especially players like Sammy and Ferguson) had at least this behind them.

I actually fell for the "Debuchy pulls out" a second time.
-
I'd have Anita ahead of Jonas in that role every single day of the week.

The article says we've lost interest in Douglas due to poor form this year. I thought someone on here said he's been excellent?

Why did one have to go? You could argue because they can't work together..... either Cisse is outwide and quite frankly useless or Ba and Cisse are up top and the whole team can't function. Despite the dreams of rotating Ba and Cisse it was never going to happen under this management so maybe in the long run shipping Ba out for someone who could you actually make the attack function as Ba and Cisse have never really functioned together. Will probably end up with egg on our faces but that's the rationale behind it i believe. I'm not even on about rotation per se. Again, despite everybody here getting a hard on for 433/451, that doesn't seem to be the formation Pardew favours most of the time, rightly or wrongly. I completely fail to see why we couldn't have two quality strikers. Isn't that the least any Premiership club aiming for Europe should have? People have a hard on for it because it's what suits the majority of our best players if they are put in the right positions anyway.... Pardew has used almost exclusively since the Southampton defeat and i know it hasn't brought results ( mainly due to injuries and other factors so players are out of position) but i feel performances have performed. I agree but it was never going to happen, as a two they don't work and you know what this board is like..... In an ideal scenario i'd like to see us bring in a forward to play wide, rotate Ba and Cisse for central striker spot but Ashley will never sanction that in a million years. I'm still skeptical because im not confident in this board doing the right thing but if we bought a winger-cum striker like Remy to replace him and put Cisse back in the centre i'd believe the team would have actually improved. I share your skepticism. When have they ever replaced an important player in the same window? Only one I remember since Ashley took over is Nolan/Cabaye. Nolan was replaced by Cabaye in the same window. Yes, that was what I was saying.. Was pointing out that you answered your own question but in all seriousness. Carroll and Ba were in the same window. Enrique and Santon were in the same window as well I believe. The reason he was laughing is that Carroll and Ba were not in the same window.

I can't imagine why not. His price tag has surely gone up since summer unfortunately. Only six months left on his contract though right? Can't be costing too much surely.

According to the wiki, was released in October 2011, came out in November 2011, hasn't played a professional game of football since.

Everyone who argues against it (that i've heard) seem to completely misunderstand the point. They go on about it as if it's a return of terracing and packing them in. From what I understand everyone still has a seat (the same size as usual) but it's lockable in an up position and there is a metal bar in front that you can lean against when standing. This means that you can stand all game but sit during the intervals and there is no danger of falling forward. I don't see how it makes it anything other than safer. It's really a classic case of "I don't care about the facts, I have an opinion."
