  1. Yeah I’d agree with that. Another reason to have got rid of Jones. Get a complete clean slate coaching wise and not have current team selections influenced by those that have presided over the farce over the last 12 months and before.
  2. Heard rumours (not on here) that the reason he was dropped completely was because he was suspected of being ‘the mole’ leaking things to the press that Brucey had been moaning about. You have to think it was something non-performance related as he was dropped from the whole squad and vague, nonsense answer given by Jones when trying to explain his absence. He is probably our best defender and as has been mentioned his leadership at the back has also been missed.
  3. This is the same owner who hasn’t yet refunded direct debit payments made by Newcastle fans in respect to unused season tickets for 20/21. Shameless. No doubt Mimms has a source predicting. After saying he wasn’t going to be posting owt yesterday after a bit of questioning of his reliability as a source he’s then gone all in with saying he expects positive news and #cans. My take is maybe knew the statement was not takeover related but decided to imply it was and going further re : #cans in a bit of a 2 fingers to those that doubted him. Hope I’m wrong.
  4. Only way Ashley goes is if we have an extended period outside the premier league. Looking at his tenure it’s only when we’ve either been down or in grave danger of being down that he’s actually invested and become involved. You could argue the appointment of Rafa himself was to desperately avoid the impending relegation that season. The worry would be that we go down, we come straight back up and it’s rinse and repeat.
  5. Anyone read this crap? https://www.themag.co.uk/2017/08/im-no-mike-ashley-apologist-but-what-about-the-man-who-picks-the-team-newcastle-united-rafa-benitez/
  6. Andros Townsend and his lass on train down to Londons Kings Cross.
  7. Don't see anything wrong in what he has said in that article tbh. He explains that he was fully aware of "the agenda" at Newcastle, just that he prefers full control as he has at Palace. As for not mentioning it whilst here we all know he wasn't going to jeopardise his position by openly critisising the clubs transfer policy. I'd rather he come out with this, it further confirms to the general footballing community how the clubs transfer policy is all about furthering the clubs agenda of signing players that an be sold at a profit rather than for the needs of the team. Hopefully cranking up further pressure on the owner.
  8. Have a read of this, it's hilarious. http://www.nufcblog.com/2014/02/03/mike-ashleys-new-five-year-plan-for-newcatsle/
  9. A mackem mate text me. As I say hope it's not true and not trying to say its from any kind of reliable source.
  10. Heard PDC has been sacked. Hope it's not true.
  11. Is there anywhere I can get better highlights e.g. Football first highlights on the web?
  12. Do you ever read things and take it in? I said "With the squad he's got to hand he is easily the worst." Pointless trying to converse with some on here. Zero by name, ZERO UP TOP obviously Easily the worst? With a squad that we were even forced to play the likes of Sammy and Shane last Christmas? Simpson as center back cover? Jonas as left back? And the all mighty Ameobi as our only cover for Cisse? With only Obertan as our real winger? With 3 french imports who are thrown to the fire without any time for settling down and adjust to the league? Are you serious? Out of interest which squad in recent times is better than the one we have? One could even argue the relegation season squad was on paper one with which we shouldn't have been relegated. Our strikers were Owen, Viduka, Martins, Lovenkrands and still had Carroll, Shola. If you look at some of the rest of the players the Taylors, Nolan, Barton, Beye, Bassong, Collocini, Jonas, Enrique, Duff, Guthrie. Fair enough in hindsight its easy to see that some of the players were on a downward trajectory, some were much better after settling - Nolan, Enrique, Collocini. But we don't know whether the likes of Cisse, Tiote will pick up form, we don't know whether our recent arrivals will be better once they have settled.
  13. Comments from Pardew 1 year ago: "I’m hoping that I will educate our fans for next season. "If they think we can finish fifth with a European campaign and the finances we’ve got, it’s impossible. I honestly believe that you need to be a bit more open with the fans. The problem some managers have is they’re not open enough. "This year, I’m sure we’ll say something like, ‘We’re looking for a top-eight finish, hopefully attack one of the cups and have a great run in Europe. I wouldn’t say we couldn’t challenge for the top six if we got knocked out of Europe. Then we wouldn’t have those extra 13 games."
  14. The FA said: "Where one of the officials has seen a coming together of players, no retrospective action should be taken, regardless of whether he or she witnessed the full or particular nature of the challenge. This is to avoid the re-refereeing of incidents. "In the case of McManaman, it has been confirmed that at least one of the match officials saw the coming together, though not the full extent of the challenge. In these circumstances retrospective action cannot be taken. "The principal objective behind the 'not-seen' policy is to address off the ball incidents where match officials are unlikely to be in a position to witness misconduct." Complete and utter bullshit. So what happened in the Ben Thatcher case where he elbowed Pedro Mendes in a challenge which the referee saw and issued a yellow card - the FA saw fit (rightly) to issue a longer ban. Releasing the following statement: "...the incident is being considered as an exceptional case. The FA contends that the challenge was sufficiently serious that had Thatcher been sent off, an additional sanction would have been merited." Isn't this re-refereeing? Bunch of incompetent fucks the FA, if they can't be consistent off the pitch how can we expect consistency on it.
  15. Agree think we need Tiote to play a role similar to Phil Neville at Everton in filling in for the full backs when they go forward. This will be especially important for us to remain defensively tight with HBA hopefully coming back in to replace Jonas.
  16. Following this match thread is ridiculous. We've gone from "dreadful performance" to "playing them off the park" in a couple of pages.
  17. Worth noting that in the 08-09 relegation season although we were 2 points better off at this stage, we only managed 2 more wins that season and still only needed a point in the end to stay up.
  18. It's interesting that the same individuals who refuse to look at any positives in a defeat like this are the same ones to point out negatives in a win.
  19. Well I finish the first of 7 night shifts at 9am today and then going to the game after going home for a shower and some breakfast. The games I've missed this year are villa (1-1), Swansea and west ham (both defeats).
  20. Which less dumb cunt do you think we can realistically get mid-season? I answered you yesterday. Ah yes, apologies didn't see the reply due to the high activity in the thread. Right the Lille manager and what makes you think we stand a realistic chance of being able to attract him to coming here? He seems to be doing well at Lille so there's the issue of whether he would want to leave, then the bigger obstacle is will the fat one pay the compensation, etc. Certainly looking at his previous record of managerial appointments its a case of be careful what you wish for as the alternative to Pards could be much worse.
