I'll have to defer to those who have seen him play as I have not. Seems potentially a really excellent signing though 30m ish for a player coming off an injury like the one he had, seems a lot. I would imagine a lot of clauses and add-ons.

I think the prevailing opinion by many is that he literally can't do a thing with the ball unless he's charging into yards of space with it. I think that's bollocks. I've seen plenty of evidence he can feint and beat the first man before a shot or cross. No, he isn't going to pick the ball up in his own half and dribble past 5 players but he's got plenty of ability in tight spaces and a quick brain.

Does a good job in most of his videos that lad. Pretty much sums up my feelings on this perfectly.

Oh absolutely. I just don't have an issue with a few fans saying things like "He's quality but can be frustrating", stuff like that. It's the enraged nonsense that I can't be bothered with. Also factor in they've been relegated and are losing some of their best players, being upset is natural.

Understandable and it's a shit side effect of relegation, like continuously getting kicked in the nuts. once the season starts, it'll fade. Gone through it lots of times. Good luck in a swift return, you're receiving shedloads of money, better spend it wisely.

I mean nobody knows players better than the fans of the club he played for. So yeah, i'm sure he could be a frustrating player for them at times, if they say that, I believe it. I also believe his growth and potential was stunted under Rodgers and he'll now play for a club on the up and a brilliant coaching staff and better players.

I am very excited, not for the player that Barnes is, but for the player he's going to become under EH. We have seen remarkable improvements in players many had already consigned to the NUFC bin pre-Howe. I cannot wait to see this lad with proper coaching reach his full potential.

There's a couple who post on here that are ok but I think they're a strange bunch on the whole. Watching them interviewed on the Tyneside Life match day video last year, their indignance at losing to us was noticeable. As a club, they had a few interesting seasons in the 90s, but they did virtually nothing of note before 2016, then had a brilliant 5 years. Now they're a championship club which they've been for large swathes of their history. For some reason, they have a "but but we're a top club" vibe about their support.

We were a bastard to play against last season, especially at St James'. The new signings will only make us more of a problem imo. We now have a really direct and aggressive goal threat in the wide left position and even more power and dynamism in the midfield. Tonali is honestly likely to prove streets better than Longstaff and I do love that lad, we missed him when he didn't play. These are two excellent signings, we're maneuvering around FFP really well I think.

Match thread on Follow Follow was a decent read, plenty of praise for our performance and certain players. Seem a decent-ish bunch on there. They really don't like Anthony Gordon too much though "Anthony Gordon is a sleekit rat lady's front bottom" was one of the nicer descriptions, God knows what it means like
