I'm not sure i agree with that. I thought Keane was spot on at the time and his rant was mainly directed at the likes of Fletcher, O'Shea & A.Smith: all of whom have since been proven not be good enough for the first team. Also, you shouldn't underestimate the difference the additions of Evra, Vidic & Carrick, along with unlikely returns to form from Giggs & Scholes, have had on the Manchester Utd squad. I thought Keane would do a good job at Sunderland and he's certainly surpassed my expectations for this season. If he does get them promoted and we persist with Roeder incharge, i can honestly see them finishing above us within two years.

Oh Jesus nothing funny about it tbh. So you think you are better prospect than us? Why? They have a superior squad and manager. Why do you think we're currently a better prospect than Tottenham?

Huntington 6 Bramble 5 Ridiculous.

Onside, Senderos stood up too late.

Arsenal are playing really well, so many talented youngsters.

Why roll your eyes? He's correct.

From today's Journal on ICNewcastle (it doesn't say who wrote the story) The Magpies will definitely sign one more striker in the summer, with Peter Crouch, Darren Bent and Dean Ashton all in Roeder's thinking, and that would finally give the Magpies a strikeforce to rival any in the Premiership even if it promises a few difficult selection decisions for Roeder. It is highly unlikely Martins and Owen will gel as a partnership, hence Roeder's pursuit of a forward with a physical presence and aerial threat to play alongside one of them. But for now the former Newcastle captain can only marvel at the possibilities. "I'm building a squad around Obafemi Martins and Michael Owen and you all know how I feel about (Shola) Ameobi," said Roeder, after watching Martins score his 14th goal of his first season in English football against Zulte-Waregem. "Michael is not just a top Premiership player, he is a world-class striker. "Oba is probably Nigeria's best striker and that part of the team is starting to look very healthy for next year. When Owen is fit with Ameobi and possibly another striker at the start of next season, that part of the team will be looking seriously good." That's alright then.

http://www.kumb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=79860&start=620 I didn't realise they go bottom if Watford draw.

I disagree; that's basing it purely on the quality of their individuals, one of the factors least important in a relegation fight. If you have a look at Charlton's fixtures they still have Watford, Wigan & Shef Utd to play, two of them at home. I can really see Pardew taking them on a run similar to that which Portsmouth put together last year.

I'm getting increasingly worried that Roeder doesn't intend to bring in another striker at all. He's offering Sibierski a new deal, he plays Dyer upfront at every available opportunity and he keeps talking about how Martins is going to 'explode' next season when Owen and Ameobi are fit again. I imagine he'll see 5 'strikers' as enough.

Were you expecting something less? This is our biggest game of the season to date.
-
Why cant you see us beating them? They are a decent side but they aint the best around. People on here over rate AZ The two managers are worlds apart, ours being significantly inferior.
-
So criticising a player who is hilariously not good enough for the first team is now jumping on a bandwagon?

Harper - n/a Solano 5 - Too many careless passes. Taylor 6 Bramble 7 - MoM, i just hope Roeder doesn't do something stupid like give him a new contract on the back of recent performances. Babayaro 6 Milner 7 - Involved in everything, shame there was nobody to get on the end of his crosses. Dyer 6 Butt 6 - Good distribution again. Duff 6 - Slight improvement on last week, looking forward to seeing him in a big European game now. Martins 6 - Anonymous barring a very well taken goal. Luque 6 - No worse than several others, showed some nice touches as always. Pattison 1 - Carroll - n/a I guess that's it for Luque, let's just hope we finds a club to pay at least some of his wages in the Summer.

I can't see us beating AZ... at least it's a nice trip for the fans

So who would you drop for him? N'Zogbia, Duff and even Rossi started in the following fixture ffs. Personally i would (have) drop(ped) Duff. A player whose performances in a black & white shirt have been as poor, arguably worse, than the Spaniard's. He seems to be let off due to efforts for his previous clubs though, a courtesy not extended to Luque. No. He probably shows a better attitude on a daily basis and comes across to the manager as though he gives a shit and wants to play for the club. Is that all that should matter, then? To the extent where we have talentless little fat men like Pattison in the first team?

I don't see the argmuent in him 'not looking too bothered', he's never going to be a player that screams and shouts and chases down every ball, and he never has been. I still think the time Luque had every right to feel aggrieved was after the Palermo game. Roeder had virtually said beforehand that he had to score or show a considerable improvement in performance to save his Newcastle career - he did. Ofcourse, that wasn't enough for Glenn and he was immediately dropped from the side, consequently ending any remaining hope he had of reviving his career here. That decision almost guarenteed we'd be paying him millions of pounds for doing absolutely nothing until his contract ran out: I still find it bemusing so many were happy with it.

Ah, sorry, i didn't read that.

We'd be very lucky to just get Bendtner.
