Very entertaining game at the Madejski. Reading really should have taken it to extra time, I was very impressed with Little and Shorey in the second half. Still unsure why Coppell thinks the league is a priority, it would be disasterous for Reading to get European football at this stage.

The only instance i'd play him is if by some miracle we make the last 4 of the Uefa Cup, otherwise it's really not worth the risk.

Given Solano Taylor Onyewu Edgar Milner Butt Dyer N'Zogbia Martins Duff

Name me 10 Premiership squads you'd swap for ours then, honestly... I know the squad has major flaws, but i'm struggling to think of more than 6 i would prefer.
-
I'd say we have an above average squad and a below average manager, which amounts to the same league position, but explains the frustration.

Why do you think that? Obviously Roeder has proven it over his career, but considering this is Keane's first season... i think he's been very impressive. Because thats EXACTLY what he's proven himself to be so far. What do you think he has proven himself to be, a decent Premiership manager? Because that wpuld be mad, that. Mad. I don't think he has, but he's definetly shown the potential to be 'decent' Premiership at least. He could not have done much more at this stage, could he? Have to disagree with that. He hasn't proven the potential to be a decent Premiership anything. He'll have ot be in the Premiership to do that. Management is about decision making, that doesn't get harder in the Premiership. The step up is tactically and he's only going to improve with experience on that front. I'd swap him for Roeder based soley on their 'off field' attributes, anyway.

Well, the time he takes to pick a pass is staggering. How many times in a game does he bring our breaks to a grinding halt? Far more often than Jenas, Dyer, Bowyer or even Ambrose ever did.
-
I can count on one hand the number of central midfielders i've seen with worse distribution and what's this 'decent shot' he has? Has he ever produced anything more than a 'toe punt' from outside the area? To describe him as a 'great individual player' is laughable.

I'm not sure i agree with that. I thought Keane was spot on at the time and his rant was mainly directed at the likes of Fletcher, O'Shea & A.Smith: all of whom have since been proven not be good enough for the first team. Also, you shouldn't underestimate the difference the additions of Evra, Vidic & Carrick, along with unlikely returns to form from Giggs & Scholes, have had on the Manchester Utd squad. I thought Keane would do a good job at Sunderland and he's certainly surpassed my expectations for this season. If he does get them promoted and we persist with Roeder incharge, i can honestly see them finishing above us within two years.

Oh Jesus nothing funny about it tbh. So you think you are better prospect than us? Why? They have a superior squad and manager. Why do you think we're currently a better prospect than Tottenham?

Arsenal are playing really well, so many talented youngsters.

Why roll your eyes? He's correct.

From today's Journal on ICNewcastle (it doesn't say who wrote the story) The Magpies will definitely sign one more striker in the summer, with Peter Crouch, Darren Bent and Dean Ashton all in Roeder's thinking, and that would finally give the Magpies a strikeforce to rival any in the Premiership even if it promises a few difficult selection decisions for Roeder. It is highly unlikely Martins and Owen will gel as a partnership, hence Roeder's pursuit of a forward with a physical presence and aerial threat to play alongside one of them. But for now the former Newcastle captain can only marvel at the possibilities. "I'm building a squad around Obafemi Martins and Michael Owen and you all know how I feel about (Shola) Ameobi," said Roeder, after watching Martins score his 14th goal of his first season in English football against Zulte-Waregem. "Michael is not just a top Premiership player, he is a world-class striker. "Oba is probably Nigeria's best striker and that part of the team is starting to look very healthy for next year. When Owen is fit with Ameobi and possibly another striker at the start of next season, that part of the team will be looking seriously good." That's alright then.

http://www.kumb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=79860&start=620 I didn't realise they go bottom if Watford draw.

I disagree; that's basing it purely on the quality of their individuals, one of the factors least important in a relegation fight. If you have a look at Charlton's fixtures they still have Watford, Wigan & Shef Utd to play, two of them at home. I can really see Pardew taking them on a run similar to that which Portsmouth put together last year.
