Get rid of him for fucks sake. Never been good enough. Never will be. Bored of people being convinced that he'll be good one day. He's good for 5/6 games a season. Get him out of the club for fucks sake... it'll do us good. He should have gone years ago but somehow, he's just dragged on. I'd sell him even if it meant out squad not getting any bigger. Distin in for Bramble would be a significant improvement on our defense.

Fuck me, if thats the case, our whole team can be replaced then. Milners been one of the best this season. In a side that is 18th in the Premier League... Like i say - he's been alright and he's improving.
-
Not forgetting the goal against Southampton. Dyer probably hasn't got enough end product. He's just got more than the rest of the squad.
-
Inside the box, maybe not. Outside the box - yes, he has better movement. Like i say, we need a goalscorer to play with Martins... cos Martins isn't a goalscorer. Neither is Anelka.
-
Not done a huge amount yet but is improving with every game. Would like him to stay... wouldn't be devastated if he didn't.

In my eyes, hed definately be the lowest risk goalscorer we could get our hands on. And for me, he ticks all the boxes we need: - pace - natural athleticism - rarely injured - decent/consistent finisher - ability to play on own - Premiership proven Would love for us to get him purely because were not then reliant on Owen for goals like we are right now. It also gives us an upper hand when it comes to Owen's position at the club - we can either use him alongside Bent, rotate him, or sell him when he gets fit, and make back much of the money it would have taken to sign Bent - let his injury proneness be a problem for another club. Hate to harp on about this, but it still applies - I still think Anelka is the one realistic signing that would solve all our striking problems, and he ticks all those boxes (1) like Bent does, and then some. He can play as the main forward or as a support striker, hes got better movement (2) , and without a doubt he has alot more ability than Bent. I know Bolton signed him for 8mill, and therefore a sale is pretty unlikely, but hed still cost less than Bent (3), who imo will fetch upwards of 12mill - which would surely have Bolton selling. Question is, would it be better to spend 12mill on Bent (4) , or 12mill on a lazy, problematic, moody, inconsistent, non-goalscoring forward? (5) Considering the gap in ability/class, I would go for the latter, despite his "baggage". Would be delighted with either though. 1. Does he really? Less than 100 career goals in around 350 career appearances, and although he's Premiership proven, he's never scored 20 goals in one season - which is what we are crying out for. And the natural athleticism, yes i agree, but it's seen periodically. 2. Martins has better movement than Anelka anyway. We don't need another striker/creator - we need a goalscorer. 3. 5 months after Bolton paid £8.5m? Really? And his wages would be enormous. And he wouldn't come here anyway. 4. Yes. Because we know what we are getting. A player who is already capable of scoring 20+ goals in the Premier League, and also with a big future infront of him. And would also work very well with Martins. Anelka probably wouldn't work well with Oba. 5. No. ;-) *Official Anelka Hater*

No - I know you were... I was just saying. People regard Bent and Martins as similar because they're totally ignorant. I would love it if we got Bent, he'd make an excellent partner for Martins. Martins is more of a playmaker - he isn't a goalscorer. We've seen Martins' best play for us outside the box - working with the ball and creating spaces. He set-up the goal against Pompey. And in his brief appearance in Germany - he was tackling back in the centre-circle and he, the 'centre-forward', put in a fantastic cross. Plus he can hold up the ball well using his head. He isn't a natural goalscorer in the slightest; he doesn't really know where to go when he's in the box. Bent is a natural goalscorer. Give him the ball and he'll score. Martins isn't like that. Obafemi Martins isn't going to be a prolific goalscorer for us, not ever i'd imagine. I'd be willing to bet anything that he'll never score 20 or more goals in one season while he is here - he just isn't that sort of player, no matter how good his finishing is. He needs a partner who will score goals on his own, and using Martins. Michael Owen would be perfect for that. Darren Bent would be great.

They're both black and quick. They aren't that similar footballers. That is soooo racist. On too many levels. Scum. That's what it is though. People are insanely ignorant. If Bent was white and an inch taller - they wouldn't say that they were similar. Footballing-wise, of course.

Don't get me wrong... i absolutely love the FA Cup. Not for any one particular reason, i just love the FA Cup weekends. And, deep down, i'd much rather see Newcastle win the Cup than the Premier League - but then i suppose i'm a little ignorant as i wasn't really old enough to understand the EPL heartbreak of 95/96. But, i really can't be bothered watching us waste our time with the FA Cup. We haven't got a cat in hell's chance of winning it and whenever we come up against a top side, and i'm talking a lot of years going back, we always get mullered. We could go on a great run, beat some good teams, and get Man Utd or Arsenal in the semis and be crushed. As usual. I'd much rather we went hell for leather in the Carling Cup - a competition that we are actually capable of winning. We knock out Chelsea in that, and we're in with a good shout. But the FA Cup? Nah. It's over before it's already started... and that's how it's been since 1955.
-
Not great but i'd take that over a lot of other things. I can't see us losing. We'll either sneak a win, or draw and beat em at St James'.
-
I'm just wondering... i actually thought you were a Derby fan until recently. Are they like your 'second team' or something?
-
It'd be fantastic really. But we could beat them 7-0, yet the Ronnie Radford goal will still appear on early January's Football Focus year after year. Rightly so i suppose.
-
Didn't you understand the joke? Yep.
-
Exaggeration. He's playing really well, no doubt about it. Like i say - he just needs a goal then he'll kick off. Last time he scored he got dropped, and then got injured not too long after. Don't really know what Roeder was expecting. Plus, he's got a consistent partner now. I think Dyer is his fifth partner so far this season... how was he supposed to gel in the team?

Newcastle United 3-0 Portsmouth Newcastle United 0-0 Charlton Athletic Palermo 0-1 Newcastle United Newcastle United 0-1 Sheffield United Watford (4) 2-2 (5) Newcastle United Manchester City 0-0 Newcastle United Arsenal 1-1 Newcastle United Newcastle United 2-1 Celta Vigo Newcastle United 1-0 Portsmouth Eintracht Frankfurt 0-0 Newcastle United Defense looking somewhat spotless. Dyer back and playing well. Given back. Solano owning right-back. Taylor showing the form from last season. Martins absolutely on fire - just needs a goal. Duff out of the side. In the next round of the UEFA Cup. Picking up good results in the league. Decent fixture list ahead of us - Reading, Blackburn and Watford all coming up. Amongst other promising things... Am i the only one feeling a little bit more optimistic?
-
Arsene Wenger getting all sour about Henry again. So what if they've had an argument...? If Henry is fit - Arsenal need him absolutely desperately. Wenger should stop being a twat and play the guy who IS Arsenal. I hope Henry just goes. He's top class but the league won't miss him. Only Arsenal will. The vast majority of clubs won't bat an eyelid.
-
Fucks sake. The Reading game is absolutely massive for us. Massive. Absolutely must win. We're on a cracking run, 1 loss in 10, 6 games unbeaten yet we're still in the relegation zone. We have to put these results into action. Must beat Reading!

The set pieces are horrific, but i think he's a good player. His tackling and driving forward is excellent, but you only see him doing that when he plays with Butt. His passing is too inconsistent and his shooting isn't good at all. If he sorted them out, he'd be a hell of a player for us. But i don't think he's rubbish.
