  1. Erm i think they can, but im not sure what fixtures are left. They can still finish on five points if they win their last game. Newcastle ... 10 pts Vigo ... 4 pts Fenerbahce ... 3 pts Palermo ... 3 pts Frankfurt ... 2 pts So i think it's still mathematically possible, but i'm not sure who plays who.
  2. Milner was all over the place tonight really. He got back well, but in Frankfurt's half, he was never an option.
  3. Or basically, you can't be arsed to give a proper comeback because your argument is so shit and is a load of utter nonsense. Cheers.
  4. Taylor and Butt were not the reasons why Frankfurt got through so many times. The fact that we had no left-winger tracking back, neither Luque or Zoggy, aswell as Ramage at left-back, that allowed them stacks of apsce and time to get balls into the box. Their main threats came from their right wing, our left wing. Ramage was very poor tonight. Taylor was miles better than Bramble. Bramble's tackling was irrational and he gave away possession. He made one or two tackles, yes, but that's not enough. A couple of good tackles doesn't make up a complete defensive performance. Plus, he let through balls slip past him manby times and he was slow. Taylor's performance however, was a complete performance.
  5. Words fail me really. A rebuttal please. Taylor blocked everything really. His headers, his blocks, his organisation. He controlled the defense really. He was an absolute rock in the defense - a virtually faultless performance, which none of our centre-backs can consistently boast. Yet Taylor has the nack of doing hit. Now he has been given more games, he is really getting back on form and i'm chuffed. He was immense. Nicky Butt's covering of the defense was excellent. And some of his tackles in and around the box were just meaty and were teriffic. Plus, when he was on the ball, he was controlled and composed and spreaded the play well. Unlike the jumpy N'Zogbia and the aimless Emre. Sibierski wasn't bad but he didn't do an awful lot. He didn't hold the play up very well, but i think it might have been different if he'd had a strike partenr. As i said in my analysis, balls just seemed to bounce off him. The formation didn't work for him at all. He hasn't got a yard of pace, yet Roeder plays him up there on his own expecting him to own the final third. Never gonna happen.
  6. Some tricky ties in there, without a doubt. Yet there's some fairly simple ones aswell. To be honest - after four gruelling group games, i think i'd quite like an easier draw. Prior to the group stages, i was all for getting a tricky draw, unlike our last two UEFA Cup ventures, simply to inject some interest and some atmosphere - which it did, and it was great and it's a massive achievement. But now, i think i'd just like a 'simple' passage through to the next round. Slovan Liberec please.
  7. Shay Given Despite their amount of shots, he didn't have an awful lot to do. Made a decent save in the first half, but his goal kicks were atrocious. Again. 6. Nolberto Solano Another good performance from Nobby at right-back. So calm and collected with the ball, dealt with crosses at the near post and the back post, blocking them and/or bringing them down. Far, far superior to any other right-back we have. 7. Steven Taylor Man mountain tonight was Tayls. His blocking, his tackling, his headers, his coolness with bringing the ball out, his positioning, his organisation. Excellent. MOTM. 8. Titus Bramble Bramble was OK. Made one or two very tidy challenges, then made one or two hash-ups. That pass in the first half. And a lot of very simple through balls eluded him. 6. Peter Ramage He got worse as the game went on really. One or two good headers in the first half were eclipsed by being beaten on the wing plenty of times. We were playing with three defenders come the end of the game, really. 5. James Milner Milner was OK. He was frustrating with his movement, though - there simply wasn't enough of it. Nobby barely had an option when going forward. 6. Belozoglu Emre Good performance from the little-man. His tackling, his driving forward posed a real problem for Frankfurt. Shocking finishing, though. 7. Nicky Butt Another good performance from Mr Reliable. Tackling, defensive cover, spreading of the play. All good. 7. Charles N'Zogbia Another poorish performance from a centre-mid Zoggy. He isn't a centre-midfielder. He's too weak and his passing isn't good enough. Don't play him there. 5. Albert Luque Invisible. 5. Antoine Sibierski Immobile and the balls seemed to be pouncing off him. Improved vastly when he had a striker partner though. That tells you something, Glenn. 6.
  8. Thought Emre drove forward well, and some of his battling in midfield was excellent - winning the ball in the middle of the park. His passing is poor though, and he really needs work on his finishing.
  9. Our defenders did well with their back to goal... but they just pounded us in the final third, and they were beating us on the run all the time. Simply down to their rotten finishing. We defended well in spurts, but at other points, we were majorly fortunate that they didn't score.
  10. I thought Martins just gave us something a little extra. There was that fantastic cross and a lovely through ball to Emre. Alright - he wasn't brilliant when he was on (were you expecting him to be with the way we were playing), but he just added something. Simply holding him back by not playing him tbh.
  11. Most rediculous comment of the century tbh. Not saying Bramble played badly tonight - he was average - but Taylor was superb.
  12. That was an alright performance. We defended well for 75% of the game, but i lost count of how many times they got through. Absolutely abysmal finishing was the only thing that prevented us from getting mullered, and that's a bit of a worry in my opinion. We're going to come across better opponents. But then you could argue - if we were playing a better team, we wouldn't have allowed them to get through, because we would have played a more advanced game. Steven Taylor was man of the match by an absolute country mile. Butt and Nobby played well, but Taylor eclipses the both of them. Man mountain this evening. Had we have played 4-4-2 and actually played against them, i thiunk we would have beaten that team, because they weren't very good. But i'll take a draw, of course. But if we play for a draw against a better team - even Vigo or Fenerbahce, they would beat us relatively comfortably. And that, and the fact that they had so many chances, is a slight concern.
  13. Because there isn't another player in the league called Titus, so it works just as well as saying 'Bramble'. Plus, if you were to be writing an article or something, you would refer to them as their Christian name once or twice, in order to avoid repetition. If you said Bramble in every other sentence, it just wouldn't sound good. Does that answer your question?

    Roger Tames

Just irritates me when people put 'Don't Know', and stuff like that in their polls. What does it achieve? It tells us nothing - it's a void vote.
  15. Disgraceful? Made it more entertaining tbh. Appearing drunk as a skunk on a relatively formal live television show infront of hundreds of thousands of viewers... Hardly very professional. Not disregarding the comedy factor - because it was really funny at times. But come on.
  16. Despise Arsenal, largely because i cannot stand Arsene Wenger.
  17. If we renew Bramble's contract, then we're an absolute joke of a club that is moving backwards, with no fucking ambition at all. He's not good enough. He never has been good enough and he never will. I'm sick to the hind teeth of people living on the lie that Titus is going to be a good player. No, i'm sorry - if that was the case then we would have seen him prove that by now. Yes, he's young, but he's 24 and he's been playing professional football for seven years, and to have developed a reputation that is this bad by this stage, does nothing for me to suggest that one day... He's been at the club for over four years, and season after season, he's been absolutely shit. He has performed hurrendously so far this season, after a promising second half to last term. And i don't think he's been that good in the last two or three games, where people have raved about him. The cock-ups and lack of concentration still stands out like a lightning bolt. He isn't good enough for this club. If we wanted to move forward, he would have gone two years ago, we kept him - and brought in more shit, and just went backwards. If we've got any hope of reaching the Top 6, we need to get rid, and soon.
  18. That Journal line-up is 4-5-1 and it doesn't have Martins in it. = I don't like that line-up. N'Zogbia hasn't played a single game well at centre-midfield either. We should go with that 4-3-3 that Alan Oliver suggested.
  19. Yeah, it was funny. Disgraceful really though.
