In response to Toptoon's post... As much as i'm eager to see Smith enforced in his natural role, anything other than a Viduka/Martins partnership against (in a 4-4-2 formation, might i add) would be madness. As for Smith, he really needs to be on the bench against Everton, now that we can field Milner and N'Zogbia on the wings. If i see Smith's name squeezed into the teamsheet on Sunday, i'll be bloody annoyed. As for Emre, i'd 100% have him in the team, alongside Geremi, if he were fully fit. Crucial that we drop Butt and Smith. Pointless having them in the team at home at the moment, and particularly in this game. With Geremi and Emre (Geremi and Barton when he comes back), we'd finally be able to have a centre-midfield that operated specific roles, rather than it being two defensive mids alternating throughout the game (defense to attack, and visa versa).

We're at home to Everton, Big TRon.

I disagree but anyway, needless arguing about the past. I've slated Duff till i'm blue in the face. But he was a quality player once and i'm happy enough to offer him a fresh start in terms of my opinion. That's what Sam said at the start of the season to his squad, anyhow... Don't hold out masses of hope, though.

If there's anyone, 'slightly' realistic (barely, in reality) that i'd bump Milner out the side for at this moment, it'd be Arteta... Had forgot about him. Cheers, Baggio. EDIT: Though, tbh, i've had him down as my 'dream' creative centre-mid that we bring in...

Nobody has to come up with a replacement or a guess at a fee for a replacement to hold the opinion he isn't good enough for where we want to be. But presumably we'll need someone better? I'm just interested that no one has come up with one reasonable answer to who we could replace him with. Assuming we "get rid" who will we play there? And FWIW I dont see SWP coming here I reckon he might, depending on how much he features for Chelsea this season/whether he's part of the inevitable clear-out over there. I'd have him here aswell, he's improved considerably, cos he's playing. But i'd like to see how Milner turns out. He's been below average this season, i won't argue with that (he hasn't been hopeless though), but i reckon he's just megafucked. Plus, has he played a game 'officially' down the right-wing? West Ham maybe? I like him, i thought he was great last season, and the slack he gets off some people here is mad, but he does need to improve. If he doesn't pick up this season then i'd be all for a SWP coming through the door, but i reckon he probably will anyway. Have patience. He's 21.

I can. And he was. I think the lack of pessimism over the Duff transfer merely came from the fact that we were euphoric over the fact that we'd actually signed some fucker...

Kev's almost right. Just a bit exaggerated, that's all. Not exactly the worst £5m we've ever spent, and there's still time. That's the only thing he's said that i disagree with 100%; he hasn't got an injury record quite as bad as Owen, but it's six and two threes given his input when he has been fit. As for Chelsea, he was great in his first season, poor in his second. And... ... is all correct. Though he did play well at home to Ventspils and at Zulte-Waregem too...
-
Meh, not overly fussed. If he does alright, he does alright. If he continues how he has done so far, then i'm not majorly bothered. If he does well then it's a plus out of nothing, if he does shit, we haven't lost anything.

Who's the other number 10? Djamel Abdoun? Never heard of him... Says he's scored a couple for you n'all.

What about the other first-teamers, Greg? Sounds like Enrique did well for that second goal and Emre scored a nice free-kick. -
Oh the fun you could have with Kev's sig.

Ditto, i can't stand goal-hangers. Honestly don't think i've buried my face into my hands when reading this forum, as many times as i have since that Arsenal game
-
Why? (not being arsey, just thought that was an interesting comment from you that probably has an interesting reasoning )
-
Hasn't been tried.

I don't see what the reason for going out has to do with any player coming back, if a player is doing well when he's playing in the team, he should keep his place until that player does something to lose it. So what; we wait for him to make the inevitable match-losing mistake or two, then drop him? Great selection policy. You play your best players.

That crossed my mind as well. Smith's signing made little sense in terms of squad building or indeed the first team. The fact we're putting him on the right wing is testament to that. But seeing Ashley turning up to games with Smith on his back does make you wonder, he seems undroppable at the moment yet he's offering the team nothing. Sam'd be out the door faster than you could say 'Alan Smith is good' if that was the case. Can't see it tbh.

Supports Newcastle according to FM05.

I'd have Lampard at the right price.

Blatantly reads the forum.

I wouldn't be majorly against dropping Milner. He's probably fucked to shit. Looks it.
