Head on the nail. But his movement is generally poor anyway. Once he's taught how to move like a good striker, his pace will be utilised more/more effectively.
-
Hopefully that will be noted, though. It'll be noted? Woah... calm down! Let's not go to too drastic measures.

Only read the opening post so apologies if i'm repeating anything. Don't think it's an overly bad idea, but people can get to 100 posts quite quickly and i can't help but think that if the mongs know that this is the case, they'll do whatever they can to get their post count up. And i'm surprised the mods/admins are in favour of this idea over Thread Moderation - which would be a lot more efficient. Regardless of who is posting the threads, there'll always be mong threads. But i agree that something needs to be done.

Provide a link or i'll continue to assume that you've just written that.

Nonsencial argument, but whatever. He always looks considerably younger during his interviews. Doesn't sounds like a guy in his late twenties either. His voice is far too high pitch.
-
Which is admirable aswell. Never been a regular in the Inter side yet comes here and is expected to be the main man. And he's done that.
-
How could he properly improve when he wasn't playing? It's not all done on the training ground. For one thing - he's scored a damn sight more goals than what he did at Inter!
-
The one ability Beckham, as a winger, had left come the end of his England career was free-kicks. And they were erratic. He was slow, he couldn't beat his man, he couldn't bomb forward and get back, he wasn't an influence on the team and he just wasn't effective. Add a season of turmoil and £500,000 a week onto that, and i'm pessimistic.

I'm a big fan of Martins, i think he's got masses of potential. Playing-wise, putting himself about as a good player, he hasn't looked particularly great, but he's got a goalscoring ability and you have got to remember that things have been against him, virtually from day one. / He took the number 9 shirt; yes, his decision, but the odds were always going to be stacked against him. He was young, foreign and i bet a significant percentage of St James' Park new very little about him - a lot won't have heard of him. Yet with 17 goals in his first season, i think he's made a creditable attempt at becoming a goalscorer, so far anyway. / He's a young lad in a new league. The Italian division isn't alike to the Premiership, and Martins is a young lad in a brand new world. Newcastle is nowt like Milan - believe me, i've been to both. / The manager was shite. The team was shite. He'd never been a regular before in his career yet was depended on as the main man. I'd agree, he hasn't looked worth £10million as yet, but there's still so much left in the tank! Yes he's raw, and yes he's not everyone's cup of tea, but which ever way you look at it, he is someone worth pledging your hopes on for the next couple of years and beyond - because he does have a vast amount of potential. And we haven't had any genuine flourish of hope for a striker since Bellamy. Plus, a new era under a new manager - a good mananger, things are looking up from the playing staff side of things. He will get better, like i say, his potential can and should be fulfilled. As Kaka listed earlier, he's got the basic attributes to be a good striker - which is why he's nailed 17 goals this season. He can shoot, he can head, he's fit, he can run at the defense and his reading of the game isn't all that bad. His touch is poor but that will come; the one thing that needs excellent coaching, and what needs drilling into him if he is going to get better in the immediate future - is his movement. He's very, very static. But - i've got hope in Martins. I haven't been excited to the state of ejaculation this season, like our friend Kaka, but i'm willing to pile a significant amount of hope onto him to be a bloody good player for us. Aye, we're a season in, but give him time!

Not see him in the World Cup, i take? I like Becks, he's one of my favourite players in general (well, has been), but to bring him into the side now would be a step backwards. And if McClaren can't think of any ways of improving the state of affairs, other than to bring back high profile members of former squads, then things are going from bad to worse. EDIT: But if he is going to do that, target Paul Scholes - not Beckham.

Only been watching Newcastle since about the time Given first came, but surely he is one of Newcastle United's best ever signings? An honest opinion from HTL/NE5 on that would be interesting, genuinely. Top man. Love him to bits.
-
Very harsh. He's had a superb season... 18 goals and 11 assists, and some of his goals have been absolute peaches. Heck of a strike on him. And his ability to beat players is first class.
-
I thought Nugent wanted out right away, though? I'll be surprised if Preston can hang onto him tbh.
-
Giles Barnes... would love to see him playing off a great striker.
-
That's probably just about spot on, and if that is the case, i don't think the centre-forward they're after is Owen. Scary though, because Berbatov is the man for that role, there. Scary in the sense that they must have an absolute boatload to spend. Should be an interesting summer. Chelsea have got some serious work to do.
-
Watching him hault our counter-attacks is painfully annoying. We lose the ball eventually.
-
I'm willing to judge him again after Sam's tried to sort him out, but he's got nothing about him to tell me he can be an imposing centre-mid, whether it be of an attacking nature or of a defensive nature. Don't think he's a bad player, he's not hopeless, he's just mediocre.

Yes.Del Piero,Trezegust are also. Aye. Should be a good game!

i didn't think even some of the fans on here would be that mental but yes, at least 2 of them are. Incredible. Your view on this topic is irrelevant because he isn't Samuel Eto'o. very funny, for a child. Oh, and get to fuck. Cheers. And well doen for a thread worse than the Boumsong one. Says the guy who finds constant little digs at a youngster, via the internet, a good laugh. Yes, says me, welll noticed. Although i note than i am not the one telling someone else that their opinion doesn't count. As it happens, i think YOURS does, more than some, even if you are a little cretin at times. My comment to you was blatantly tongue in cheek, but you stressed and told me to fuck off.

10 starts, 13 subs according to SkySports.
-
He's only been a sub this season, really. 7 goals from 10 starts, though. Btw... where the hell has Luis Garcia gone? don't think i've seen him in the Liverpool side for ages?
-
Should be a decent occassion this, actually. The home game in the Champions League was ace, and i can remember we played them in a friendly 99/2000 time. We won 2-0. Is Nedved still at Juve?

He'll end up at Sunderland imo. Aye, was thinking the promotion teams would probably go after him. He'd probably be an excellent signing for the Mackems or Derby/West Brom. Brum have got enough strikers.
