  1. Barnes doesn't fluff his lines and we're all on the ceiling right now. Likewise. the pain is absolutely unreal atm like.
  2. I thought he was brilliant today. Then he went and did that. Staggeringly stupid attempt at a pass. Finding it hard not to be absolutely fucking raging at him like. ?
  3. Fucked it up today. Crossing me fingers for no overreacting mind, can count on one hand the amount of times this has happened in his tenure.
  4. Twat him, Shay. There's no fucking debate ffs.
  5. Buzzing for him. That first touch was perfect, made it impossible to catch him.
  6. We got sloppy in the last ten there but in the whole that was a fantastic half and we're well worth the lead. Liverpool can have zero complaints with the red, like. Absolute stone-waller. Gordon, Bruno and Tonali have been excellent.
  7. I'm an absolute fucking wreck If it's still 1-0 at 85 minutes I might actually die.
  8. There's no debate about that pen, like. Alright the action of a slide tackle requires you to naturally have your arms out, but he doesn't have to slide. You can't deny the attacking team a penalty that they've earned by forcing the defender into an error.

I know I'm always anti-VAR but honestly I don't actually mind the concept of double-checking really significant calls. It could've been a valid and positive addition, like goal-line technology was. It just needs massively dialled back and applied to fewer incidents which are sensitive to subjectivity. I.e. have it solely for penalty shouts and maybe goals that are disallowed for (non-offside-related) infringements, a la Bruno's first goal in that Leicester game. Challenges that lead to red cards are often far too subjective imo and should be just left alone; was there really an issue with high numbers of harsh reds pre-VAR? Not that I can recall. It's also crucial that we reduce the amount of voices in the decision-making process, so I actually really like your 'automatic review' idea for those big calls. Stick a screen behind each goal, so there's less theatre as we all watch him/her go to and from the screen. They just double check their decision to give a penalty/disallow a goal; they are the only one who can overturn it - not influenced by any other official; and on we go. Additionally (and as I've said a few times before), I'd scrap it for offsides absolutely altogether. It is ridiculously pedantic and unnecessary and often stymies the freedom of celebrating. The vast majority of linesmen are capable of flagging something that is offside to the extent that an attacker has an unfair advantage. I also think this would be far preferable to the current system. Let the benches dictate how much or how little VAR is applied.
  10. I don't believe there's a true rivalry either, really. Both sides have to feel the same 'edge' to the fixture and I'd wager that, for Liverpool fans, Newcastle home and away are just like any other dates in the calendar. Ergo there isn't actually that many that aren't just manufactured by media coverage. The only rivalry we have, in the purest sense of the word, is Sunderland imo. Maybe Man Utd but again, from their point of view they probably wouldn't agree.

I don't think it's out of the question. What Mike Dean said on that podcast should be enough to bring the whole thing crashing down; it's an admittance that the referees' integrity can be and has been compromised. It should be an absolute scandal but I admit that probably wouldn't help anyone. Refereeing still has to be an appealing profession otherwise we don't have a game. That's what makes it all the more galling that the culture since VAR is arguably makes it less appealing than it ever has been. (NB. I don't know the facts; maybe there's a long queue of budding PL refs, seems unlikely though)

Only just become aware of this Dean revelation. It absolutely annihilates the credibility of the whole thing (as if that hadn't already happened by virtue of the innumerable stupid calls) but nothing will happen. Such a depressing state of affairs. This thing that was brought in to supposedly assist referees (at the expense of the sport's spontaneity) has served only to apply far more scrutiny than there ever was; and on top of that, apparently they hate using it. Great work, lads. Add to that the latest petty, flawed and hairbrained additions to the rulebook, i.e. technical area capacity/obscene amounts of added time, it makes you wonder where the fuck we're going with all this. What's depressing is that there's no means or motivation to properly lobby against what is happening, there's too many mixed opinions. For instance, I'm well aware that despite my disdain for it all, it is not going away - so any calls to ditch VAR altogether is a pointless waste of time. But that leaves the unanswerable question of what should be lobbied for? Where do we draw the line of what is an acceptable level of intervention and what isn't? Whole thing's just a mess and the scrutiny/ref's personal experience is only going to get worse if they're expected to audibly verbalise their thought process to a live audience of up to 90,000 people.
  13. That's a beautiful touch and finish from Bowen, what a goal.
  14. Ten men Fulham equalise. City winning the league at a canter at this rate.
  15. When I saw Forest were 2-0 up after five minutes I don't think I've ever felt more certain that Man Utd would win today.
  16. He looked areet for you so far?
  17. Another treat of a watch and echo the sentiments about Wor Flags. You lot instigate immense pride and passion in the club and I genuinely believe you've had an impact on the actual results at SJP. Just an absolute credit to the club and the city. Cba to critique the episode for all the reasons already discussed at length in here, I just really enjoyed it.
  18. Really enjoyed his presser today. Incredibly measured in the face of the journos' stoking of a so-called rivalry between the two managers; just no temptation from him at all. Just letting Klopp cryarse to himself and his arsekissing minions. Liked his answers in general about social media. Spot on again in how he says it's not for him to dictate whether or not the players are on it but you can sense that he wants them to be educated on its pitfalls. He's just a bloody good egg and it's great feeling like we're in such good hands. You know we'll be absolutely ready for Sunday. Plus I'm a sucker for any KK chat.
  19. Luuk De Jong in there instead of Muto. Defensive shouts are a bit mad, like. Yanga-Mbiwa was a decent player; there's dozens of CBs I'd have ahead of him. Ramage, Campbell, Bramble, off the top of me head. Poor Gamez and Lazaar barely kicked a ball.
  20. He'd be a lot easier to replace with £120m in their pocket mind you. He'll only get worse as a player from here so they might as well take advantage of the obscene financial windfall.
