Schär PSG and Burn Liverpool are the most obvious missing ones from the Howe era I reckon.

The comparison to Vardy is solid based on the fact he's played the majority of his career pre-30 at an intensity far removed from the PL. He's also got a fantastic injury record (🙃) so, with those factors combined, theoretically will have more in the tank than a typical player of his age.

Thought it was absolutely exceptional CF play. Not sure about the goalkeeping on our part but no real beef with Thiaw, sometimes you've just got to hold your hands up. I'm happy with who we got but do wish we'd managed to get Pedro; at one point I was picturing him and Isak as our pair and was thinking we had a shot at the title. Ah well.

Aye he was unreal in 22/23. Go back to around pg 200 of this thread and we couldn't believe the talent we had on our hands. You get the vibe that he won't fulfill his potential here and the comparisons to Woodgate are valid. We just feel it much less now, because nowadays we have a battalion of incredible CBs - whereas back then it was Bramble, O'Brien and a young Steven Taylor.

If we're going after stopgaps then I hope we're looking at loans. Don't want to be stuck paying wages to someone for several years but whom we only really needed for six months. Tbh I don't think we'll be looking at stopgaps; we can't afford to with PSR. Every signing has to represent value for money when your academy isn't shitting gold bars. We'll be looking at someone young and versatile I'd expect.

I did like his instincts for that breakaway at the end of the game. Poor decision-making at the end but you know he'll have had a shot in mind from the moment he scampered away, and he's obviously so desperate to get going for us. It doesn't help us but I did have some sympathy; gifted by only experiencing the moment through highlights. I don't think anyone else in the side even gets into that position so it's a promising sign. Happy to clutch at straws, all we can do is hope he gets better so I'm choosing to! Avatar is changed by the end of Jan. I can feel it.
