Everton v Sunderland, decent
-
Spurs v Villa, nice

Wins against these and PSV should give us a fighting chance of top 8 going into the last game, shouldn't it? They won away at Man City in their last tie so expecting a very difficult game.
-
Amazing, that. What's the standard like?

Gerrin. What a silly little league it is this year.
-
Yeah it wasn't a heinous error. A bit silly but it happens in a flash and it's not like he's tried to save it. It's no great evidence base but I thought he looked alright on the extended highlights. Fashioned a nice chance for Woltemade which he should've done better with (which seemingly comes with the territory with the lad tbh).

Yep, spot on. This is where it all as stems from. People talk about fixing the mentality issue; well the solution there is entirely in figuring out how to score more goals. Not so much 'how do we close games out'. We need to be in a position to not have to.
-
Love it. Great week for Leeds, too.

Didn't see a thing today but chuffed with the three points. Weekend mental health survival rate: 88% - would recommend this approach.

0.01 xG for that Bruno goal.

Is it 4-3-3 with Burn LB or something else?

Yeah, having an unreal season considering they weren't allowed to strengthen. Sigh.

Wouldn't be astonished if he was straight in the starting line-up tbh. He was always meant to be 'plug in and play', and if he's ready, he's ready. (He might not be ready)

It's as "that's football" as it gets. Pope was the right choice, we won the cup and qualified for the CL. -
Good grief what a cringe. Guy actually scored in a World Cup too. Just needed to say that.

I mean actions do speak louder than words but sometimes words have to happen before the actions. He hasn't even been in post for a transfer window yet.

Just catching up on Hopkinson's soundbites to the journos. Don't feel like putting too much weight into them but I appreciate the reminder that we're being led by ambitious people who want the club to grow and succeed. I don't read it as bullshit; that guy, with his track record, wouldn't be here to peddle bullshit. Just feel content that we're generally in safe hands and the trajectory remains upwards, relative to the context (i.e. financial rules).

The Town Moor being arguably the best possible site to relocate the stadium sums up the challenge perfectly tbh. It's not the answer.
-
Probably, yep. And it's also the only land that's available for a development of the type we're talking about. If some land swap scheme with Leazes Park isn't achievable then there really is fuck all vaguely around the city centre that's available for a new stadium (i.e. not the arena site). I don't know if the Helix site would have ever been suitable but you wonder if our chance for a new stadium in a central location disappeared with that being developed.
-
Well for a start, it was first announced six years ago, so Forest fans have had to wait longer than we have for any sort of progress, and it could be another three years before the project starts. The scheme is entirely uncontroversial - just replacing a decrepit old stand with a modern one. Meanwhile there are basically no meaningful constraints to prevent it from happening (at least compared to our situation), unless you feel strongly about car parks. There's a boat house they need to knock down but they're providing a replacement elsewhere for that. Hardly Leazes Terrace. Honestly, you're just winding yourself up for the hell of it with these comparisons to other clubs' schemes. They're nothing like our situation.

Still not sure it's an "absolute mess." Like I say, they've just been non-committal. I think I can remember a soundbite from Eales but it's mostly been the journos, which is meaningless. People are used to news and anxious for news but the lack of news doesn't mean something is a shambles or whatever. It's clearly extremely complicated, nothing like Birmingham's case for instance.
-
How has it? The club hasn't committed either way, which seems an entirely reasonable policy given the complexities of the topic.

Jesus Wolves are absolutely finished. Must be one of the lowest points totals ever at this stage.
